I just finished this book. It was a truly humbling and inspiring read. I was particularly intrigued by the way that Monk Moise portrayed the Legionnaire movement as something that in essence was more about the spiritual renewal of the nation than about achieving political goals. I think that ought to be a model for every would-be group of Orthodox men who are coming together to find a way through the coming time of troubles. As you say, reading and understanding the life of Valeriu—and of all the Romanian martyrs under communism—may well be the best way to prepare for what is to come.

100%. The quote that has hit me hardest thus far is:

Q: What is missing in the Christian world of today: Faith, truth, or power?
A: First of all, there is a crisis of faith. As a result, the world has situated itself, apart from truth, and for this reason God has taken power from the hands of Christians.”
