The thing I took the most umbrage with was when the protagonist, Starlight (who is portrayed as a reasonably good and moral character in Season 1) publicly renounced her Christian faith so she could give an enlightened agnostic speech. The reason she gives this speech is because she took umbrage with Christian social teaching on premarital sex and homosexuality. She looks on horrified at a children's superhero book with the title, "Fly straight!" (meanwhile, walking into a Barnes and Noble will show endless amounts of BLM and LGBT propaganda in the children's book section.) Starlight proselytizing that she didn't remember the faith of her youth being so conservative just rings so phony when mainstream Christianity in America has only gotten more and more liberal to the point where Joe Biden is considered a good Catholic, they're celebrating Trayon Martin-themed Protestant services and promoting transgender bishops in the evangelical Lutheran Church. She says, “how does anybody know how to get into heaven? I’m not so sure you should take the Bible so literally. It also says it’s a sin to eat shrimp.” Not understanding the difference between Levitical ceremonial bylaws and universal moral teaching is such fedora tier reddit cringe. Surprised she didn't throw "mixing fabrics" in there as well. And her cringe line: "what, if you’re gay or if you’re Ghandi, you’re going to hell? And if you have sex before marriage, that’s not immoral! That’s human!" The idea that you should revel in a state of mortal sin and not carry your cross is the nihilistic BS that I was talking about. And the simping for Ghandi? A man who abandoned his father's deathbed to go have sex, shared uncomfortably close and likely exploitative relationships with a harem of young girls (including forced enemas), slept naked next to his grandniece and subjected young girls and boys to sexual chastity experiments. Yeah, a person who committed those acts might be on his way to hell if he didn't truly repent and accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. Bear in mind that Starlight is supposed to be the creator's message of what "modern Christianity" should be.
