I was in Morocco not long ago and as far as north African countries go sure, it's not so bad - but it's still not small town Scandinavia, for chrissakes! Even in first world countries in areas full of white folks in broad daylight, people in general need to be careful, but particularly women and especially young hot women prone to wearing tight yoga pants walking around with earbuds and a 21st century mindset. Oh, is that sexist? Whatever - it's also good sense to realize there's men out there who will treat desirable women as chattel, no different than an uncooperative goat. In some cultures more than others, they get frustrated and angry enough to act far beyond even sexual assault, even more so if the woman is foreign.
Feminists tried to tell us for years that rape is a crime of violence but the stats do not bear that out - young, hot women are disproportionately targeted versus older unattractive women. Couple this with a "people are people and I'm supergirl!" outlook of the average thot and you might as well be giving a kitchen knife and a bottle of rum to a three year old.
As for news, I only got this far after reading the bullshit US version, which of course didn't say a hell of a lot. The crap detector went off full blast. Lo and behold, it's exactly as I suspected.
The reality cocktail of skepticism, a hint of paranoia paranoia and just a dash of cynicism will keep a person alive. Alas, these girls didn't drink any of it.

US Department of State gives a level of risk by country. Morocco is Level 1 (safest), along with Norway and Sweden. Denmark, France and UK are Level 2.
IMO they are exaggerating the terrorism risk in Europe. I agree that Morocco is very safe in general, but probably not as safe as Norway.
