They've known since at least 1994 that sperm counts have dropped 50% in 50 years. When the researchers published their (accidental) findings there was a massive orchestrated pushback from Science!, so they've probably known why it's happening for much longer than that. The documentary has been disappeared from youtube for a while now, so enjoy it while you can.

Since it affects wildlife too, it can't only be lifestyle. It plastic packaging, food and other unknown sources of soft chemical castration. It's probably the same reason women are developing (and ageing) much faster.
