I'm in agreement with Neo. Yes, she was wrong for being drunk and yes, she's profiting from her irresponsibility which is disturbing. But he was drunk and assaulting her sexually. There is no getting around that -- whether he knew her or not.

How do we know? Look at it this way:

But it somehow seems different because it's a woman, and our current society lionizes all things female and tends not to hold them accountable for their actions. It's not, though.

Women not being held accountable is an issue to take up with the legal system. As for what we're discussing here, drunken criminal behavior is serious whether it's someone getting behind the wheel or someone sexually touching you -- male or female.

The way some religious people feel about sex outside of marriage on this forum is the way I feel about alcohol. It turns women into insane wenches and men into nasty thugs. If you're gonna stay away from pre-martial sex, I'd recommend staying away from drinking as well. In my opinion, alcohol is the straight person's AIDS.

Except that's not what happened. No one would have a problem with condemning a man who outright rapes a girl or walks up to a passed out woman and starts groping her. If you want to compare it to a gay dude, you have to stick to an equivalent scenario:

A supposedly straight man goes to a gay party. He was dancing with and flirting with several men there. Eventually decides to leave with one of the guys to go to his room to have gay sex. Before doing so, he calls his girlfriend to tell her not to wait up. They start kissing and groping each other in the parking lot, then he passes out and the other dude continues for a few seconds until he realizes what's happened. At that moment some white knights show up and call the police. He's taken to the hospital and they're asking him what happened. At this point he's stuck, he's either outed as gay or he accuses the other man of rape. He chooses the latter.

In that situation, don't you think people would at least be asking why he went to a gay party? Why he was flirting with gay men? Why he was leaving with one? He wouldn't be defended, he'd get banned on his first post.

Even this isn't equivalent because, in the girl's case, her friends and sister were there and would have stopped her if she was too drunk or being forced to leave with BT.

Yes. but they are stamped with a sex offender symbol, but after checking apparently only Japan refuses entry to their country if you are a sex offender with a passport.

Brock should absolutely go to some other country and move on with his life as he will never be able to do that in the USA.

Turner's story changed. First he met her outside the house, then he met her inside beforehand. When women's stories change, I doubt their validity. Same goes here.

The narrative you paint is from his defense team, which I did not find credible. This is not the Duke Lacrosse team or the Fake Rolling Stone Rape, where most everything seemed questionable from the get-go.

The fact that the hospital found bruising on her says to me this was an assault. Mutual drunken hook-ups usually don't result in the woman getting physically hurt.

I think there are a lot of cases we could make that show both parties should be responsible in mutual drunken hook-ups. I don't think this is one of them.

Finally, I would in fact have a problem if the situation you described happened with two gay guys. When someone is passed out you don't take advantage of them, no matter what the situation. For that matter, if I had passed out when I was married and my wife "digitally penetrated" me, I'd have divorced her and called her insane -- even if she had been drunk.

This seems to be a matter of perception. In this case, I don't see Turner as someone being framed like Justice Kavanaugh clearly was. I see a guilty man trying to lie his way out of trouble.

Nick Fuentes invited him on his show recently. I could see him hanging out somewhere in EE, occasionally guesting on America First, probably having a pretty good life.

I would tell him to stfu and get back in the closet, regardless of whatever laws may have technically been broken. I would seriously argue in favor of the gay guy in that case. What kind of adult voluntarily puts themselves in that environment, undertakes a pattern of behavior strongly indicating they want something, and then is so arrogant and conceited they press legal charges after getting what they asked for??

Having said that, Turner's behavior was inappropriate, and he deserved some sort of consequence. But a draconian life of global infamy? Nah, that's insane. Deserved a stern lecture, a suspension from school, and some sort of community service that would have given him a more adult perspective on things.

I was thinking if I were the judge I'd have given him at most a suspended sentence and barred him from drinking alcohol, depending on witness statements, reasonable doubt, etc.

The girl at the heart of the case, was interviewed on Women's Hour on Radio 4 this morning. She has a book coming out, Know My Name. She is a literature graduate, who has also studied ceramics and comic books.

It is worth listening to. I would love to hear a recording of her from before the event to see if she has always had the same unbroken monotone drawl. It is a kind of grimly impressive interview, she plays her role to a T, even 4 and a half years on.
