Struggling With Denominations

Thank you for sharing. I couldn't agree more on all those points! I believe God is faithful and He will lead you where you need to go. Because you have an open mind and are motivated purely by wanting to seek the Lord, rather than familiarity or identity, I know wherever you end up, it'll be the right place. Just keep praying about it with your husband (bless his soul for being so supportive), keep attending these churches, keep studying the Scriptures (all of them), and keep communing with Christians of all denominations, and I know you'll arrive at where you need to be very soon.
Thank you- I appreciate it!

My belief is that anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is saved and is a follower of Christ.
It sounds like your convictions are very protestant, which is understandable given your upbringing. Based on the belief I quoted above, it sounds like Orthodoxy is not for you right now. That's fine. It's worse to convert if you only agree with a few points of the faith. It is better to continue seeking the truth and if some day you agree with the Orthodox Church on all her teachings then you can convert at that time. Although I disagree with the quoted belief, I don't believe that you cannot or will not be saved. Maybe Orthodox people on this forum come off as "I'm right and if you don't do it our way then you are going to hell" sometimes. This is not a Christian or correct theological way to act. No one except God knows who will be saved in the end and many church fathers taught that sins aren't judged at face value, which is why Orthodoxy doesn't have mortal vs venial sins. The same sin can be on two ends of the severity spectrum for two different people. My point being, every person will be judged on an individual basis so we cannot foresee and should not judge another person's likelihood of being saved. This is the Orthodox teaching as i understand it.
