I know that the point of washing your hands is to protect others, but I figure I'm personally safer not touching the faucet and/or soap dispenser (when they're not motion-activated) at all. Sometimes a with-the-back-of-the-hand maneuver is possible, depending on the specific mechanism. Sadly, you can't enter/exit most restrooms without touching the door. That trick with a paper towel only works if they have them. And then there's the question of how to avoid touching the toilet seat. A lot of single-use restrooms for men don't have urinals.Where I am, there are often signs telling you to wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom.
