Supply chain & commodity disruptions [USA]

Washed eggs that's about the limit.

Unwashed unrefrigerated eggs can last well into a month because they still have the film and coating from being dropped.

Chickens are easy to raise and keep if you're able to.
I recently learned that you can't keep backyard chickens in the lot of a townhome; but if things keep going bad then we become a low trust society and I'm sure people will start breaking the laws and racking up fines (if the bureaucrat's police come around) even on small plots of land. The reasoning for the restriction is the fowl coop must be 25 ft from the property line and at least 100 ft from neighboring homes/residents.

Kudos, the idea about the eggs. I heard that a mineral oil rub will help preserve recently laid eggs, but not store bought eggs.

Btw, there's an idea that says - Caesar isn't Biden or any other politician, Ceasar is the Constitution of the USA, which is a nice and accurate sentiment. I'm sure somewhere in the Constitution it references live, liberty and eggs as sustenance.

You touched on a key point I've mentioned here before. The government artificially keeps us down in very basic ways such as this. The past two suburban neighborhoods I've lived in don't let you own chickens. Some people are grandfathered in but at some point they stopped letting people get chickens. That's insanity. People have the basic human right to grow food on their own land (including meat), and as far as neighbors go, chickens are perhaps the least offensive animals one could have. If it's about sound, well then why don't we ban the airplanes flying right overhead, the trains passing through town, and honking. The cops can't (or won't) stop the fireworks randomly set off overnight or the shootings that happen in the city, but of course they'll cite you for owning chickens.

Here's the preferred method: https://www.theprairiehomestead.com...ve-your-fresh-eggs-for-long-term-storage.html

Another thing you can do to mitigate supply chain issues is begin storing fuel. You can do a lot of stuff relatively easily with a set of saws and by picking up extra pallets around town (check secondhand sites. People tend to let a lot of them go just to get rid of them). Use second hand sites and keep an eye out for people putting up materials for free that you can transform into something useful with a bit of handiwork.

Don't throw away any broken wood parts or items in your household. Grab a reciprocating saw, cut off the break, and cut the remaining wood and parts into useable pieces. Those cardboard boxes for example have a lot of uses:

Get more in the mindset of "fuel". Raw material is almost always useful and you're probably throwing a ton of it away.

Biden Administration Considers Banning Gas Stoves over Health Concerns

A federal agency may look to ban gas stoves over concern about the release of pollutants that can cause health and respiratory problems, according to a new report.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is set to open public comment on the dangers of gas stoves sometime this winter. The commission could set standards on emissions from the gas stoves, or even look to ban the manufacture or import of the appliances, commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. told Bloomberg News.

“This is a hidden hazard,” Trumka told the outlet. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”

The stoves, which are used in about 40 percent of homes in the U.S., emit pollutants including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter at levels deemed unsafe by the EPA and World Health Organization. The emissions have been linked to illness, cardiovascular problems, cancer, and other health conditions. More than 12 percent of current childhood asthma cases are linked to gas stove use, according to peer-reviewed research published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health last month.

Senator Cory Booker (D., N.J.) and Representative Don Beyer (D., Va.) wrote a letter to the agency last month urging the commission to address the issue and calling the harmful emissions a “cumulative burden” on black, Latino and low-income households.

However, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers argues that cooking produces harmful emissions regardless of the kind of stove used.

“Ventilation is really where this discussion should be, rather than banning one particular type of technology,” Jill Notini, a vice president at the association, told Bloomberg. “Banning one type of a cooking appliance is not going to address the concerns about overall indoor air quality. We may need some behavior change, we may need [people] to turn on their hoods when cooking.”

The American Gas Association similarly argued against a ban.

“The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and EPA do not present gas ranges as a significant contributor to adverse air quality or health hazard in their technical or public information literature, guidance, or requirements,” Karen Harbert, the group’s president, told the outlet. “The most practical, realistic way to achieve a sustainable future where energy is clean, as well as safe, reliable and affordable, is to ensure it includes natural gas and the infrastructure that transports it.”

^ anyone reading this, if you don't have it already, make a point to get at least a couple of months worth in expenses of cold hard cash on hand

Mix it up and be sure to have smaller denomination bills, $10 or $20 bill is easier to pay for day to day stuff than a $50 or $100.
Peter Grant over at Bayou Renaissance Man has some excellent articles on emergency preparedness. In one of the articles he talks about how after a hurricane local shops did not have electricity, hence no credit card machines. People were unable to get cash from ATMs. People who had fled the storm and settled in his area were unable to contact their banks and the local banks were not willing to work with people they didn't know. The shops that were open were also leery of accepting bills larger than $20. It's a good blog. HIghly recommended.

Re: FAA issues.

It gets worse. Watch the guy's video below (warning: language).

@vaccineregrets: Want to know why the FAA had issues? Flight cancellations??
This guy posted December 28, 2022...was fired from Southwest Airlines for doing his job - Reviewing Code.
Said major issues were coming...

Eggs and bird flu decimated bird flocks
Expensive red meat has caused many people to begin eating eggs for protein
The cost of diesel fuel ... All reasons for why the price of eggs has increased 3x in the last few years

Another reason that I heard is that Distributors (groceries, I suppose) are not paying the farmers any more money after they, the distributors, have increased the cost per dozen, so the farms are cutting back on production.

Infowars for sure ...
