Supply chain & commodity disruptions [USA]

Is there any actual evidence of the bird flu decimating flocks? It wouldn't surprise me given the horrendous conditions the vast majority of chickens are in but it also wouldn't surprise me if it was basically just made up like covid.
"
518.3 million

In 2020, the number of all chickens in the United States totaled around 518.3 million."

_____

"November 3, 2022—As bird flu outbreaks in wild birds and poultry continue across the U.S., the country approaches a record number of birds affected compared to previous bird flu outbreaks. Since early 2022, more than 49 million birds in 46 states have either died as a result of bird flu virus infection or have been culled (killed) due to exposure to infected birds."

Yes and no. It's a significant hit but hardly "Decimated"

Achually! Decimation originally referred to culling a tenth, so that's almost exactly a decimation!

My egg guy down the street was selling me a dozen for $3 in the winter and $2 in the summer. I've been buying off him for awhile.

He just pulled his sign out of the yard and told me he's not selling anymore to the public. He's keeping them all for his family and closest friends.

I paid $7.99 Tuesday at the grocery store. Crazy. I'm used to eating 6 per day, but now?

I am not in California, but I yesterday my jaw dropped when I took a look at my latest electric/gas bill.

I have yet to dig into the details on the bill and compare it to last month's to determine WHY it is so high, but it is almost $150 higher than last month's bill, and near $200 higher than the same month's bill from last year.

I see tons and tons of lawsuits I'd they try this malarkey
Unfortunately, even by just threatening this, they are making many new home builders and new stove buys reconsider or change their decision. It's that "nudge" BS that they do. Doesn't take much of a change to all of a sudden dramatic change change availability or normalcy of gas stoves .

Upside is electric so far crappier to gas maybe I shouldn't be worried

New York May Be the First to Ban Gas Stoves

Hochul “quietly snuck a proposal to outlaw new gas stoves into the ‘New York Housing Compact’ she unveiled during her State of the State speech Tuesday,” reported the New York Post in a Wednesday article. But the ban does not just apply to gas stoves. The Post article further notes that “Hochul’s plan would ban gas stoves, hot water heaters and oil furnaces in both new home and commercial construction by the end of the decade.”

Argh. Hochul sounds like the Grinch who stole every day.

Over on the editorial page, the Post’s editorial board provided a good, short rebuff of the new threatened bans from the US and New York governments, including the shady proffered justifications of protecting children and the environment. Read the editorial here.

One-hour of exposure to burning gas stoves without ventilation MAY cause health problems??? Talk about running out of things to boss people around over.
My furnace was out for a week or so in November, so I was tempted to run my gas oven to keep the house warm. I found out this is not recommended because a small amount of carbon monoxide is formed when gas burns in the open.

In particular, you are not supposed to leave the oven door open and run it for hours. However, if you are roasting a turkey for 6 hours, that's OK, because you keep the door closed, so it limits the amount of gas burned.

Likewise the stove top burners produces a small amount of carbon monoxide. Under normal cooking conditions, the amounts produced are trivial, but using the oven to heat the house with the oven door left open can build up unhealthy or even dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

The current campaign is pure hype. It is true that some pollutants are released. However, the levels are safely low enough with normal cooking. There is no actual justification for eliminating gas stoves or home furnaces.

What's really happening is that TPTB are trying to reduce gas consumption in the US by some marginal amount, to free up more to ship to Europe, to help in the anti-Russia effort.

Chicken Egg Yolk Antibodies (IgYs) block the binding of multiple SARS-CoV-2 spike protein variants to human ACE2

Abstract
The SARS-CoV-2 virus is still spreading worldwide, and there is an urgent need to effectively prevent and control this pandemic. This study evaluated the potential efficacy of Egg Yolk Antibodies (IgY) as a neutralizing agent against the SARS-CoV-2. We investigated the neutralizing effect of anti-spike-S1 IgYs on the SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus, as well as its inhibitory effect on the binding of the coronavirus spike protein mutants to human ACE2. Our results show that the anti-Spike-S1 IgYs showed significant neutralizing potency against SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus, various spike protein mutants, and even SARS-CoV in vitro. It might be a feasible tool for the prevention and control of ongoing COVID-19.

This also lines up with the new food pyramid where they tell you red meat and eggs are less healthy than frosted mini wheats and lucky charms.....
