What got me is the very end where he questions if his truths matter so much, versus just being happy in life.

His wife never asked those questions of herself.

He didn't loose his wife, because he has his youtube channel. He thought he could resolve the conflict between his wife and in-laws with money. Didn't work.

To be clear, I don’t know anything about this guy and only skimmed the thread.

However, this, and the fact that she moved backed to Japan — to the suburbs, mind you — makes me think there’s a lot more here than the typical “divorce rape” that people are claiming.

Unlike in America, a divorced single mom is beyond damaged goods in Asia. Especially if, as I’m assuming, she’s in or nearing her 30s. She actually took a major lifestyle downgrade and loss in status just to get away from this guy.

Another clue is him talking about how angry he got when he saw that she was living in a plain, unassuming area.

It wouldn’t surprise me if she was actually a more conservative, family-oriented type and was miserable she had no support network. Her husband was always at work, she didn’t get along with her in-laws, and she’s in one of the most liberal places on the planet.

And when she told him this, he just tried to buy her more stuff, because he’s trapped in the Western materialist mindset. In reality, she just wanted her husband around.

Does that justify her sneaking away with his son? Of course not, but I also don’t buy that she was just a selfish cunt who left him because he didn’t give her “tingles”.

It just doesn’t make sense. She didn’t move to LA to “explore herself”, she moved back to Japan, where she lives a more modest lifestyle and will be a partial pariah.
