The Alex Jones thread

What an absurd country. It would have been at least $835 million cheaper for Alex to just kill all the kids himself.

America is the most litigious society in the world, and our legal system has created an established compensation system for compensating people financially for incidental injury. This is in cases of accidental or incidental harm, not crimes like stabbing or assault.

Under this system, for example,a life is valued at $2m in the state of Virginia. Up to $5m in others.

( I couldn't quickly locate the stats for CT)

Alex Jones could have caused the death of all 26 children at Sandy Hook, and come out with a far lower punishment than he did by verbally questioning the official story.

Not only have we lost freedom of speech in this country, but the third pillar of basic rights we were founded on: The pursuit of happiness ie property. If your money can be confiscated because of something you say, then the rest of the so-called freedoms we have are pretty useless, particularly the one about shooting guns.

There is nothing anyone can say to me that would cause me to demand money from you.
The entire concept is absurd, and Alex was never allowed to defend himself anyway, but was just given a "default judgement" by this joke of a court. I don't think he even questioned the Sandy Hoaxers that much anyway, but mostly just allowed callers to call in and talk about how weird and kooky all these people were acting, and all the inconsistencies in the narrative.

Regardless, he should be able to say literally anything he wants without fines, in a free country. Even if you want to use extreme examples about North Korea or China or something, it is very clear the things you can and cannot say in those countries, and no one ever told Alex Jones "You are not allowed to question the Sandy Hook story."

That it would have been financially cheaper for Jones to have conducted the massacre himself, instead of merely asking the question does not set a good precedent.

Hypothetically, if we were follow the logical sequence from such a precedent being set. One would be given a reduced sentence if they killed any folk that they disagreed with, rather than engage in discourse to reach a common understanding?

P.S. - The $2-$3 million dollar figure is the commonly used amount in most cases, in aggregate. It can be modified depending on age, etc.

Can people from Iraq take this precedent to sue WaPo and NYT?

This is double of what Poland is demanding as reparations for WW2
The GDP of India in 2020 was $2.6 trillion USD.
Germany had to pay 23 billion dollars in reparations after WW2 (380 billion modern dollars). Turns out Alex Jones is 7 times worse than Hitler.
This is more than ten times the amount of the total Big Tobacco settlement of 1994... a product liability that caused millions of deaths.

I think it's too little to be honest, why not 6 trillion? Imagine the damage that Alex Jones has done to these people and the propaganda damage he has done to the American people spreading this disinformation to sell erection pills. He made gorillions of money over the backs of these poor people. To be honest the damage of the holocaust fades with the crimes that Alex Jones committed. We can't even compare the crimes. This crime is a crime to humanity and I distance myself from it.

If you see how he reacts it is just fair the original fine get multiplied with 2500. This is just 1000 times worse than the holocaust. And if that doesn't work they should multiply with a trillion just to make a point, that this is not our democracy, this is not who we are as a people.

That there are borders to freedom.

The whole world is looking at us, this is Nuremberg part 2. The real case of history. If we solve this, we can go back to humanity after he paid this. Adam Lanza will be forgotten for the crimes Alex Jones committed. Just as Darrel Brooks will be forgotten for the red SUV that killed these people. And Kyle Rittenhouse will be forgotten for an AR15.

All the Alex Jones', the red SUV's and AR-15's should worry in this world as the Jewish law will get them. Justice will and should be served.

The public psyche has lost it's grip on observable reality. To ask from a man 3 trillion dollars just for hurt feeeelingz is a fantasy on par with the neverending story. I'm still uncertain about who AJ really is. Is he controlled opposition? Is this all a ruse or is the DOJ just set to destroy a man to get everyone silent?

They're asking for 2750 billion dollars, not 3!

Wow...check out the heated exchange between Kyrie Irving and ESPN reporter's Nick Friedell who questioned Irving's post of an old Alex Jones clip.

Oh no, one is trying to get off the plantation... The Jews can't let that happen. Mr Friedellstein, bring him back in the cage.

I have just seen this.

Cannot anybody tell me what the consequences of this are?

This from the BBC:

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has filed for personal bankruptcy after he was ordered to pay almost $1.5bn (£1.2bn) for falsely claiming a 2012 school shooting was a hoax.

Jones was ordered to pay the damages to the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting following a series of defamation trials earlier this year.

The most notable came in October when a jury ordered him to pay almost $1bn following a trial in Connecticut.
Jones has not commented on the filing.

The court documents - which were filed in Houston, Texas on Friday - say the Infowars host has between $1m and $10m of assets and between $1bn and $10bn of debt.

They also estimate that the 48-year-old has between 50 and 99 creditors, including the individually named relatives of the victims and an FBI agent who responded to the attack.

His show's parent company - Free Speech Systems - filed for bankruptcy in July.

The latest filing temporarily halts all proceedings in the Connecticut case, including a scheduled hearing examining how the families would receive the money and what assets could be included.

It could further delay payments as the case plays out in bankruptcy courts. It is unclear how much money the families will receive.

Following the filing, a lawyer representing the families said "the bankruptcy system does not protect anyone who engages in intentional and egregious attacks on others".

"Like every other cowardly move Alex Jones has made, this bankruptcy will not work," Chris Mattei said in a statement.

What does the lawyer mean? If Jones' assets are liquidated and paid to the families, then what?

Hopefully he saw the possibility of being sued and much of his wealth is in his wife's name.
