Economics degree holder AOC confuses Milton Friedman and John Maynard Keynes

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on an extended discussion about economics and John Maynard Keynes where she referred to him as "Milton Keynes."

The New York Democrat said that the "famed economist Milton Keynes predicted that by 2030, GDP and technology would have advanced so much that it would allow everyday people to work as little as 15 hours a week and provide for their families."

Ocasio-Cortez, 30, said that Keynes was not entirely wrong because technology and GDP "have advanced wildly since the 1960s" but that wealth inequality has kept people from experiencing a shorter workweek.

The freshman congresswoman later clarified that she had mistaken Milton Friedman with Keynes. "UGGGH TYPO. It's John Maynard Keynes. Mixed his name with Milton Friedman — a (very) different economist," she said.

Ocasio-Cortez, a socialist, has a degree in economics from Boston University, which she regularly boasts about online. Friedman was a staunch free market economist, while Keynes laid a significant amount of theory behind the idea that government spending contributed toward economic growth.

Someone should tell AOC that she will perpetuate Whiteness even more when dating and potentially marrying a ginger-White - the whitest of all whites. Her kids could look Nordic or Aryan.

It's amazing that women do the oppsotive of what they preach. She is like those champagne socialists and very endemic in many South American higher social strata which is surprisingly White and European. She rather wants to belong to that but preach the opposite for the socialist collective. Just as the chamagne socialists loves to be a multi-millionaire, but preaches austerity and poverty to the working class.

What is it with men talking with that inflection? Is it an East and West coast thing? I'm in the UK and just don't understand it. It is now everywhere in ten short years. They all sounds so effeminate with that lilting uptalk. He sounds very gay.

I used to be a "liberal" and still am in some respects, but I can't identify with today's leftists simply because of people like AOC and her mincing boyfriend. They're screaming their fucking virtue from the mountaintops in the most patronising, self-aggrandising way. That video is a case in point. You just know they are incapable of hearing a well-reasoned argument from another person's perspective without having a total meltdown.

Talking down to the proles for not being as enlightened as them.

Fuck off, please.

Maybe part of the problem is his name "Riley Roberts." Sounds like a porn star from the year 2005 who Charlie Sheen might have dated.

Note to parents: Pay more attention to what you name your boys. Boys names become girls names pretty quickly these days and it looks like men are acting accordingly.

No wonder there is a trend among lower middle class people to give boys action names like "Shooter." Might not be the classiest name, but at least it doesn't sound like a girl who's on the cover of this month's Penthouse.

...
Milton Keynes is the name of an English city near London, hence her confusion.

AOC's main point below is actually well taken, it's a very important one, and the right question to ask. Unfortunately she doesn't have the right answers. Policies like the "Green New Deal" will only make the problem worse.

famed economist Milton Keynes predicted that by 2030, GDP and technology would have advanced so much that it would allow everyday people to work as little as 15 hours a week and provide for their families...Keynes was not entirely wrong because technology and GDP "have advanced wildly since the 1960s" but that wealth inequality has kept people from experiencing a shorter workweek.

I'm sure she's a big fan

She appears to have upped her makeup game or had some minor work done, because for some reason her face seems more attractive in these recent shots. A hot congresswoman is going to be the ultimate trophy lay in DC, and I’d be willing to bet money she sneaks off to get railed by some Chad, red state, ICE agent on the side.

Keep in mind that she didn't originate this argument; she's just repeating what she's heard, poorly. And I tend to lean more Austrian in my economics... but she's not all that wrong here.

With our current setup, all of the money being produced by QE goes to the wealthiest 1% - bankers, investment firms - who do nothing with it but invest in reliable assets, driving up the price of rent, leading to a greater divide between the upper and middle classes.

This created money should either be going into the common pot, or we need a complete rethinking of the economy.

^^^

Friedman was open about a negative income-tax to form a sort of UBI. He also thought technology would create less labor and prevent low skill people from finding meaningful employment. The difference is Friedman and other reasonable libertarian economists wanted negative income tax/UBI payments to stand alone as opposed to creating a large inefficient welfare state. So she isn't laughably off, both men saw the same issues on the horizon but had different answers.

Its an interesting discussion on why (((economists))) like Mises and Friedman were ignored while at the same time (((critical theorists))) were allowed to literally jump off the boat and begin subverting western culture. It makes me think the JQ is more related to the secular morality than any deep plot. Regardless, min-archo-capitalism can be just as degenerate and harmful to a culture as critical theory, its why libertarianism has truly become the feminism for men.

Both Friedman and Keynes knew about the destructive nature of usury. Keynes visited even Woergl where the interest-free demurrage currency was launched with highly successful results. Friedman supposedly was in contact with Bill Still who created the Money Masters movie. He agreed with Bill on monetary reform and the necessity to get rid of central banking usury and fractional reserve banking. But he did not voice those issues publicly. Guess both economists understood what should be done, but both were powerless to do anything about it.

As for usury - there was even a group that voiced the issue in the Israeli knesset with no result of course. The tiny group that profits from it will not let go of it willingly and they will suppress the knowledge forever.

Also both Friedman as well as partly Keynes didn't have such bad ideas - both can be combined and if you didn't have usury and an additional currency with demurrage, then a far prosperous population could be manifested. It's still funny to me that both men knew about the biggest issue but never talked about it much in public. The world trillionaires are watching and you won't get anywhere if you voice those things.

Former CNBC Anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera Takes On Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The battle for the Bronx and Queens congressional seat currently held by far-left Democratic freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just got more interesting.
Former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera filed Monday to run for Congress in New York’s 14th district. She will run as a Democrat challenging AOC in the party’s primary.
Caruso-Cabrera has for many years been a supporter of free markets and a skeptic of big government. Her 2010 book was titled You Know I’m Right: More Prosperity, Less Government.
That sets the stage for a battle of ideas in the 2020 primary.
“I am the daughter and granddaughter of working class Italian and Cuban immigrants,” Caruso-Cabrera said in a statement to CNBC, which first reported her candidacy. “I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful career and I want everybody to have the opportunity that I’ve had. That’s why I’m running.”

Even calling the Green New Deal a "policy" is being way too generous. Anyone who hasn't read it should read it, it's very very short, 14 pages (double-spaced and half of it margin, per the standard) and restates the same thing again and again wrapped in the usual floral "whereas it is understood" type shit. The content of it is a tweet, not a policy.

I always ask people who support it to tell me about it, I ask them what they like about it, and none of them have ever read it, and they all believe it was some enormous phone-book sized tome full of detailed, wonkish policy and researched, actionable steps. They don't believe me when I tell them it boils down to "white hetero cispatriarchy bad, fantasy-world guilt-free electricity from big daddy gubmint good".

One observation I have had on what is now called climate change is the left's response to it.

It's not,

"Oh no. Not climate change. This sounds terrible. Maybe it's wrong. Have we got a second opinion? It would be better if this wasn't true."

The response is,

"Aaahhhh! This is absolutely true! This is terrible! It doesn't get much worse than this! You're all going to die! What you think it might not be true? Blasphemy!!!"

But it's the same with pretty much everything.

Difficult to see why they's be so delighted to find problems everywhere
