The Coronavirus Pandemic thread III

It's not free, though. You're still paying for it, just through different means. I'm not against that, in theory, but I am against how it manifests in practice, which is grift and bullshit. The NHS is collapsing before our eyes, the US side of the Canadian border is littered with hospitals that exist solely to receive Canadian patients who don't want to wait six months for an x-ray because they're stuck in line behind troons getting their top surgery. Meanwhile, while I don't promote the US healthcare system as a model for the world at all (because it has the worst of socialized AND private healthcare), seeing a doctor is quick and easy (relatively speaking), we have the worlds highest cancer survival rate (a questionable metric to be chasing, tbh, but still, that's how these things are measured), etc. The downside is drugs being promoted by doctors paid to do so, for example, and I'm not defending that, but you get the same elsewhere, just done one more level of bureaucracy up and after the private healthcare system has already paid for the R&D and marketing.

I've lived in seven countries in my life, all except the US being the "free" utopias you covet, and as bad as the US is I would not take their healthcare in a serious situation. The very first thing I would do is come back to the US (or even go to a private clinic in Thailand or something like that).

Socialism isn't a bad thing at base, but it is when you're socializing bullshit across a society that has no shared values. As the countries you named continue to import tax drains and impoverish their tax base you can expect quality to continue to decline.

You can't have the socialism unless you first have the national. It just doesn't work and never will. Once Bernie went open borders he completely lost the plot with his various "free" things.
Socialism only works in small scale among the Christians anyway. Like the Hospitals and Hotel services that Monasteries used to run. And the tiny Jerusalem congregation with the distribution of wealth managed by the Apostles until it got too big and unwieldy. And with ALL OF THEM VOLUNTARY.

On a large enough scale the market economy free of usury and with private property works best. Even National Socialism will not work as effectively as a Market Economy since its on a large enough scale.

COVID-19 is the new war on terror. The Corona App came out in Germany a few days ago, and it uses low power Bluetooth to sense when people are closer than 2 Meters from each other. The corporate sheep on LinkedIn are virtue signalling, telling everyone else how much of good sheep they are. These people have earned the right to be sent to the meat grinder.

Pretty much back to normal here. You're still supposed to wear a mask on public transport or in shops but most people don't, there is 0 enforcement of it at all. I regularly go shopping with no mask as do many others, nobody gives a shit. Bars and gyms are back open.
I can second this statement. Virus hoax is OVER in Poland. They still won't allow concerts but at the same it's perfectly fine for everyone to ascend on supermarkets in their thousands. It's like the government is living in a parallel universe. At least no one is making a fuss in cafe's and restaurants.

Hmm. Maybe we could all become Christians and then do more things locally on a small scale.

I just drove around the downtown area of a major city in the Western part of the US. No social distancing whatsoever.

2nd wave of China virus is guaranteed in the state I am currently living in. Americans are stupid--need to socialize in bars/restaurants/cafes on Friday and Saturday nights.

Horrible driving as well. Degenerates everywhere.

:(

Until the bodies start dropping from this new wave of protest-induced infections we should be seeing, I'm not all made nervous about reports of people not socially distancing.

Wasn't Sweden supposed to be some kind of role model not that long ago-?

Trump is such a moron for giving into this corona crap. If he was smart he should just start standing in complete and open defiance of any sort of lockdowns whatsoever. That would also get the attention spotlight back onto him instead of all this black lives matter crap that is just on the tv 24 / 7 all summer so far.

Things were bad but I think the turning point to this madness we have now was when we let the government pull this lock down nonsense and completely take control with it. And Trump fell for it and still is hook line and sinker.

He should have come out absolutely swinging tonight on ending the lockdowns and also against anti white racism. He is such a absolute fool. I'm literally watching him right now all he's doing is just cracking a bunch of stupid jokes.

He could generate so much enthusiasm right now if he would just play his hand and use his platform and rallies, but he's just acting like a complete idiot instead and giving some generic basic bitch speech which is the last thing people need to hear after months of lockdown and burning and rooting and looting.

I haven't been here in a couple months. Combination of being an essential business during COVID and forgetting both my password and the email account I had on record wasn't active anymore.

But want to check in on this. I live in what was the North American COVID epicenter. I have a business which employs about 25 people. I must say, while things have quieted down we went thru some extremely tough and scary times.

I was fortunate enough to have half my business deemed as essential so we were able to work thru the entire pandemic. But the most important factor, and responsibility was to do the best I could at protecting the health and safety of my employees and our customers, and everyone's families by extent. That was a real challenge.

We ended up having a number of positive cases within the company. We quarantined crews. We quarantined the entire company at one point given the number of positive cases. One very key employee we thought would not make it. This is one tough MFer from El Salvador and he was so sick he couldn't stand up or talk. He thought he was going to die. The entire families of everyone in our company who contracted COVID had it. Our company attorney had six clients who died from it. The marketing firm we work closely had four employees die. My CPA's cousin died. Two of our sub contractors had family members who died. My GM's wife's best friend died. My horticulturists's brother died. Then her godfather died a week later. My neighbor's uncle died. Another neighbor a few doors down sister died. 10+ people we do regular business with had close friends/family who died. Numerous clients I speak with had death around them. I knew many others who were sick and pulled thru. This was far, far worse than 9/11 around here.

I have never been thru something like this and don't wish it on anybody. For a period of about two months is seemed death was all around me. All around us. An invisible threat you're confronted with every time you leave the house. And my wife was 7-9 months pregnant during this. I was not able to attend the birth of my daughter. Every day for 2+ months myself and everyone I worked with, as soon as we got home from work would basically strip down as soon as we walked thru the front door and sanitize everything we touched. Door knobs, keys, phones, etc. Everyone's wives did not leave the house for any reason for the entire time.

The above doesn't touch on the countless businesses which have closed and will never reopen around here. The financial and economic ruin.

Sure this being the epicenter, it hit harder than everywhere else. But the fact that this thing is spiking across major states right now and they are not shutting down is a slap in the face to America. Florida is just foolish. In CA Newsome only mandated wearing masks in public last week. What the hell is going on. We shut everything down here and things still aren't open but other states are approaching this with an incredibly casual attitude while the numbers skyrocket. That puts the whole country at risk unless domestic travel is shut down.

This might seem like a joke to some. But with the death and economic ruin all around us where I am, if we get a 2nd wave because everyone else can't be bothered to take this seriously, you're crapping all over fellow Americans. And every politician, every leader in a place where this is a threat, either domestically or internationally better take this seriously and protect your citizens.

One more thing.

F China.

So how many people around you died from it?

By my count I know 11 people directly who passed away from COVID and 30+ thru various connections.
America will be like you when we get to 300-500k death range. At the rate we are going we can make it there in the middle of election chaos.

Just got off the phone from a trustworthy girl in Beijing.

All people in Beijing are required to get nucleic testing (核酸检测).
She waited with many half an hour in a crowded stadium, before going into a crowded tent for 20 minutes.

I'm getting bad echos of when the virus spread amongst all those cramming into hospitals in Wuhan to be tested.

I'm suspecting they are augmenting their DNA database, though this article only suggests they are doing for males

She has said that there isn't a new lockdown, and everyone is back at the office, except for 30% of people using their annual leave.

Don't try to guilt and shame people into agreeing with you mate, very bad taste

'I know some people that died off Covid19 so my opinion is more valid than yours'

Bad taste, even if it were true.

Fortunately the amount of people that prefer cold hard facts and reason over emotion has reached tipping point

-99.7- 99.9% survival rate
-93- 99.2% comorbodity rate
-Average age of the deceased somewhere around 80
-Hospitalisation rates similar to the flu

Economies worldwide are in shatters. Civil rights are being eroded left in and right. 5 billion people locked up in their houses due to illegal and inefficient lockdowns. Constitutions superceded. Global control mechanisms are launched, ranging from forced vaccination to digital medical passports, phone tracking and kafka-esque judicial frameworks

Besides, if you, after the worldwide tacitly approved mass BLM/Antifa protests, still don't get what this is about I suggest you take a couple of days off from work and start doing some soulsearching

Bro if you are really as scared as you sound I suggest you stay at home for the rest of your life

Stay at home, and let others live their lives and provide for their families

I asked some friends about it but they didn't confirm what you said

Apparantly some areas of the city are on lockdown. People that want to travel elsewhere in the country need to show proof of a negative nucleic acid test. Schools have been closed again

From what I've heard most of the testing sites are in open areas anyway, think plastic tents alongside the road.

It's a bit of a mystery where this new outbreak originated. Chinese media says it's the 'European strain' which might hint at an overseas Chinese flying back into the country and attending or working at the seafood market.

For a second I feared it was 'the second pandemic' Bill Gates has been warning us about. This man seems to have a crystal ball so you better take his words seriously.

A sidenote: of the 170 or so infected people all but one are asymptomatic of have mild symptoms.

As a person who believes they had this in Feb and didn't find it to be that bad at all (cough lasted 5 weeks was the most annoying) I would really like to know the demographic of the individuals and their physical condition. Do you work in elder care?
