Sure, he may have faced punishment in the past, but not nearly enough.

Ironically, the offender, if detected early, benefits more from the proper severity of punishment than if they are treated leniently. If the latter happens, they go onto worse things, like this incident, and that is when they finally start getting appropriate consequences - years in prison in this instance.

If you ask any psychologist , counselor, therapist, etc :

"What's the worst thing you as an individual can do to (for) someone engaged in self destructive behavior?"

The answer to this most fundamental question is "Enable them"...100 percent of the time. Its taught to parents, family members, co workers friends. If you truly want to help them then dont enable them, (give them money, protect them from consequences, etc)

It's clinically undisputed.

Yet those same psychologists, counselors, therapists, etc are overwhelmingly "liberal" and overwhelmingly vote for the platforms that enact destructive enabling policies at the mass social level
