Relevant to this thread, I saw a video by "ReasonTV" on YT about "men are falling behind and failing". I like ReasonTV but kind of keep them at arm's length because its more libertarian. I didn't watch the video and I guess that makes me ignorant, but then again, I already know what its going to say.
I mulled this over a little and concluded the following; this is just another "look at how bad men are doing" video. Its far too focused on what's happening versus doing something about it. I feel like this kind of video has been thoroughly covered. This was relevant 10 years ago. Today, we all know that this is happening. We all hear, incessantly about how men aren't doing so well.
As a result, this video is demoralizing, therefore, its counterproductive. Compare this to the headlines in the early 1990s that talked about how education was failing women. Even though none of what they theorized was true, nonetheless, they 1. diagnosed a "problem", 2. Called it out for being wrong and 3. Suggested several ideas and steps to remedy it.
How often, even in our circles, do we see a video about men falling behind structured in this way? That's problematic, to use our enemy's terms. This is what got me hung up on this video. I'm sick and tired of hearing that men are "falling behind". We are NOT falling behind, we are being politically repressed, and it's that simple. Women get preferential treatment from Kindergarten to grad school to corporate boards - that's why men are falling behind. This is not a fair 1-to-1 fight here, this is deliberately bringing group A down to make group B look good. Its nothing to be proud of.
I'm skeptical but Reasontv is pretty red-pilled. I suspect they played lip service to this fact but didn't emphasize the obvious injustice. Worse still, I'll bet the farm they didn't offer and practical solutions.
If we're going to talk about men and society going forward we need to frame it appropriately, namely, emphasizing the injustice and, above all, what to do about it. Otherwise, all you have is one more disappointing video about men.
