The Donald Trump thread

Donald Trump is running for president, on the promise that he will 'bring back' the American dream.

The multi-billionaire businessmen announced his shot at the White House Tuesday morning, surrounded with gold, mirrors and polished marble in a midtown Manhattan skyscraper named after himself.

Trump was introduced by a gushing speech from his daughter Ivanka, then strode on stage to the backing of Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World, and gathered his large and colorful family around him for a group photo after his speech.

As part of his big reveal - teased at for years - Trump, 69, gave a statement of his own wealth, pegging his net worth at $8.73billion.

He declared to a crowd of Trump devotees and 'VIP' businessmen in suits that he was 'proud' of his enormous assets, noting more than once how 'I'm really rich'.

Indeed, Trump went so far as making his own personal wealth a major strut of his pitch for the presidency - saying that he has so much cash he can afford to ignore lobbyists and vested interests.

He admitted it was 'crass' to parade his own wealth, but nonetheless concluded: 'I don't need anybody's money. It's nice,' he said.
Trump's politics:

TRUMP AT THE STUMP: POLICIES FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT SPEECH

'Repeal and replace' Obamacare
No cuts to Social Security
Build a wall along the Mexican border
End Common Core in education
Increase taxes on foreign goods
'Protect the Second Amendment'
He also claimed that his personal abilities in the board room and at the negotiating table would put him in a position to save billions from the federal budget, buoy up industry and divert wealth worldwide into American pockets.

Among his big promises were pledges to create millions of jobs, make America rich and defeat its enemies overseas, among which he included economic rivals like China, Japan and Mexico as well as armed combatants like ISIS.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump in his speech.

I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created.
'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

Trump staffers sent out his speech in advance to reporters, but the candidate himself seemingly went off-script for most of the delivery, clocking in at 55 minutes after numerous digressions, anecdotes, jokes and jibes.

Joking 'I beat China all the time', Trump used his own record on business to illustrate how he'd deal with foreign governments.

Describing China as a bigger threat than ISIS and pointing out that Mexico is 'not our friend', Trump suggested that he'd levy huge taxes on foreign goods to prop up domestic production, as well as constructing a solid wall along the southern border.

What do you guys think? Is this another clown added to the GOP's roster for this primary season or does he stand a chance at stopping the Hiliary?

This dude's a clown.

It's amazing to me how we don't even have politicians that fake class anymore.

Say what you want about Reagan, but he was undeniably classy.

Trump is a proven winner. He's created jobs and doesn't mind telling it like it is. I'd happily vote for him. Now here come the chorus of 'fuck its' in the thread already.

RE: The Trump Card: Donald Wants To Fire Obama

He's right, it would be alot harder to buy favors from a guy as wealthy as him.

Unlike career politicians like Obama or Rubio, he doesn't need to get along with everyone so he can get bullshit lecture fees (chelsey clinton) just for being associated with him. He's not desperate like a talentless 'community organizer' who has no other options than government.

Americans are presently being taught in schools:

1. money is evil
2. people who spend time obtaining more money are evil
3. corporations are evil
4. all business owners are evil
5. government taking your paycheck is a good thing
6. whatever your teacher and liberal media tells you is in your best interest.

I'd rather have a ruthless businessman in charge who understands the brutal reality of the global economy, and the tough choices that need to be made to cut the deficiet and make America more competitive. Yea he inherited tens of millions from his dad, but turning that into billions is pretty impressive IMO.

All I hear from any left politician is wanting government coercion to make things 'fair' and 'equal' to the proverbial 'little guy'.

RE: The Trump Card: Donald Wants To Fire Obama

He and Rand are the only two of any interest to me. I am not sure if he is serious, I hope he is, because it will take someone as non-PC and tell it like it is as him to get this thing headed back in the right direction.

Hasn't that been pretty much every American president since WWII? And look where it's gotten us.

Despite his clownishness and deliberately over-the-top persona, he's more qualified to run just about anything than Hillary Clinton is.

That does not mean I think he would win, even if he could somehow get the nomination. As an outsider to the US election process, I find it very remarkable how invincible Democrats seem to be, even when they are objectively awful. It's like they are made of Teflon. If Obama couldn't lose in 2012, I simply cannot see how Hillary could lose in 2016, given that the country has moved even further to the statist-left than before.

No, that is the opposite of every president from LBJ through today.

Republican Party.

I will say this. There are a few solid, won't embarrass the country Republicans out there. But I am afraid they will not get the chance.

Based on that Fox criteria for the debates, Donald gets in but actual former governors do not.

At least Michelle Bauchman isn't in there to make a mess of it all.

It would be interesting if he took not a single contribution from anyone. I would respect that.

I don't know what's more sad, that Trump is actually considered a serious candidate, or that he still blows away the prospective republican nominee: Jeb "amnesty is love" Bush?

Goldman is also the biggest backer of most Republican candidates.

Heads I win, tails you lose.

Fuck him, how can you take a guy who still spouts the "Obama was born in Kenya" line?

Did Michael Bloomberg ever take anybody's money?
