Was it Snowden himself who said he makes 200K a year?

Booz Hamilton wants to disassociate itself from him as much as possible, if he worked more than 40 hours he might have made much more, but they would publicize the base salary so as to not appear to have been kissing the ass of such a horrible, horrible individual.

On that note, if Russia does not have an extradition treaty with the US, why didn't he go there?

You need a visa to fly there. If he applied for one, I'm sure the NSA would have known.

It's pretty wild when you think about how rapid the erosion of personal privacy has been these past several years. I've even experienced girls looking me up on Google and asking questions based on that information. Due diligence will soon be as simple as a few mouse clicks, and already is in many instances. There used to be a time where a guy with street smarts and a good appearance could con his way into the corporate world. Those days are now gone for the most part because of the increasing lack of privacy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you can avoid a lot of this by locking down your Facebook and not having any pictures of yourself and not having your name in your email account. Basically doing the opposite of attention whores and not putting yourself out there online.

I second what Houston says. If you're cautious about what you out there, I don't think it's that hard to keep your anonymity. Always use pseudonyms if you post to forums. Ideally a different pseudonym for each so you can't easily be cross-referenced. It helps me that I have an extremely common name like "John Smith" and anyone googling my name is going to have to sift through a whole lot to find me. My facebook is completely on lock as well. Nor do I post any dumb shit on there that would make me look bad to an employer.

I'm not talking about FB, which you guys are right about, but any publications or websites that have information about you. Linkedin is a double edged sword, for example.

The dude's a spook. Isn't it possible that he could have gotten a fake visa if he wanted to?

Webpage up already with alternatives to products/services compromised by the NSA

http://prism-break.org/

Pretty extensive list, wonder how practical it would be to implement everything? Thinking of buying a new laptop soon, so might be able to start from the ground up (except maybe the OS... damn pre-loaded Windows...)
