The End Of Roosh Hour

Sad news. The writing has been on the wall for some time regarding his enjoyment of them, it was obvious they were more becoming more and more of a hassle as time went on and I guess a choice had to be made.
Like others, I suggest that perhaps instead of mammoth 5 hour streams of pure doom-scrolling, it be changed to something more in-line with where Roosh is now, the Roosh Hour streams were the last hold out from his previous life so perhaps something a little closer to God would be more enjoyable for all. Shorter, less concerned with the material world and its nonsense. It would be a shame to end it here, and although I do understand that writing is his primary form of communication, many people do enjoy watching Roosh's message.
As someone else here said, I hope this isn't a continuation of something I too have noticed: The further withdrawal of Roosh from society.

Maybe it would be good if the Roosh Hour would stick to the word hour, not hours. Preparing for a 3-5 hour show can be exhausting, it is an overload of negativity. Doing a 1 hour stream one, two or three times a week and just take one or two stories or just talk could be relaxing, without the pressure to deliver something deep or to convince people of something.

I think if you feel it right to take a break we should all support it. I think a lot of people are focusing on the blackpilling, but he also mentioned pride and dopamine, which is real.

If the streams come back maybe doing it more based upon spiritual books you are reading would be nice!

God bless you Roosh :)

Fully understand and agree. I would even get a rush from people reading ROK articles written under a *pseudonymn*, so I can only imagine how much more difficult it is to control one's ego when publicly doing livestreams to hundreds or thousands.

I think this a good move, not only for you spiritually, but also the audience. As much as I enjoyed hearing a lone voice speak out against the evil news, it's probably not healthy for us to hear that stuff either. I would often laugh, but not so much anymore.

I hope you would consider very occasionally being a guest on another show or talking to people with their own outlets like E Michael Jones, Tim Kelly (Our Interesting Times), Jesse Lee Peterson, James Dellingpole, etc. Or just talking with spiritual leaders. The discussion of evil events might still be an issue, but if you are a guest on someone else's show, perhaps the ego repercussions are lessened, and you can focus on just having a conversation with the host.

I always enjoyed your chats with EMJ. The Father Spyridon talk was also excellent. And unlike anything else I have heard elsewhere. There is often a dynamic with 2 people where you can bring out more than the sum of the individual parts. I don't know your feelings on those talks, but if they were positive experiences for you, consider doing so occasionally.

While I think it's a good decision, consider whether or not you want to fully abandon public communications completely and permanently. I do think God gave you a voice and an audience for a reason.

The really awful thing is there is barely a public figure willing to speak out against the anti-Russian hysteria.

Hello Roosh, we don't talk much but firstly I want you to know that I respect your decision, and I respect you altogether very much.
Yet I am hoping you reconsider this decision, for most of us you're like the older brother we never had.

I do not deny that I loved Roosh's streams and that I have some personal desire that he continue. But I would say that my desire for Roosh himself to be fulfilled and actualized is just as strong, and I gave multiple reasons as to why I believed the road he has chosen to take, for his own sake, did not appear, to me at least, to be the correct one. It is up to him whether he agrees there is any truth in what I said, if he wants to just ban me, he has the capability to do that. But I love Roosh. And I wouldn't say that about more than a few men or women outside of my family. Unequivocally I am no hater. I have listened to Roosh probably longer than 99% of the posters here and he was the driving force that pushed to wake me up. I may not share the same beliefs as Roosh does now, or most people on this forum, but I can understand his value just the same as anyone else. Maybe more so because I don't form my opinions on people based on how one complies to the teachings in a book.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, because when push comes to shove, I stand next to Christians before any other denomination because I agree with Christians' morals before any other denomination. I believe in a higher power but not like any book available to us describes. And I call it like I see it. Sorry I don't mean offense, and I know I can be blunt, it's just my belief that if I lie to someone in order to get along, I believe I am holding them down, and I would be offended by someone who didn't hold me to the same standard, which is probably why, admittedly, I don't have many friends. Luckily, I'd rather have few close friends and less acquaintances than a bunch of acquaintances and no close friends, because I know it's impossible to satisfy everyone, and the latter appears to me to be meaningless.

I get that this will be taken as try hard and pathetic, that's fine. I would ignore comments like this anywhere else, but this is an important time to be as honest and open as possible,

In a decision that has taken me months to make, I have chosen to retire the Roosh Hour live stream format. The first Roosh Hour was recorded on July 10, 2017 while the last, Roosh Hour 73, on January 22, 2022. I will not do them anymore.

It was quaint to think that, upon repentance, I could seamlessly incorporate Christ into all my existing activities, but some activities are so predominately secular that they must be abandoned entirely. That includes doing a live stream where I offer commentary on dozens of news stories to a wide audience where my opinions are the “hidden knowledge” or “hot takes” that edify the masses. Problem is that doing live streams so exercised my pride that my most lamentable sins since being received into the Orthodox Church happened immediately after streaming.

Doing a Roosh Hour had the effect of dumping a gallon of adrenaline into my body. It gave me such a chemical rush that I immediately began to perform old sins, first with my mind and then my tongue. It even caused me to overeat. I learned that the adrenaline evaporates my spiritual guard, similar to the effect of alcohol. Not only do I lose control over my willpower, but I also lose the desire to pray. For at least a day after streaming, my prayer is unfruitful, full of distractions. It began to bother my conscience to do live streams because I knew I’d experience temporary spiritual damage as a result.

I have considered pre-recording streams to reduce the stimulation that comes from speaking to hundreds of people at once, or even to do an audio-only Roosh Hour to reduce the effect of me being the “star” of the show, but the problem of the content remains. For three, four, even five hours, most of what I talk about is the news, usually bad news. This observation was confirmed to me while I was preparing for my next stream by doing an objective analysis of the links I wanted to share. They were almost entirely negative: war in this country, rumors of war elsewhere, the regime trampling on people (literally with police horses), women behaving badly, children being hurt, people killing themselves, discussion of the human-destroying plans of the globalists, potential future pandemics, and on and on. I don’t care how strong your faith is, but to be subjected to this barrage of pain, suffering, and evil will darken your mind. For a long time I have been subjecting your senses to hours of doom and gloom, making it easier for you to experience anxiety, fear, and despair. Many people think I’m doing them a favor by showing them “what’s going on,” but do the benefits really outweigh the costs? Outside of knowing the basic framework of what’s happening in the world, you don’t need to know everything to serve Christ and be saved.

I have shared many spiritual ideas and quotes in my streams, but they are a minority of the content, and after a stream, it’s easier to remember the shocking images or carnage I shared more easily than a nugget of spiritual wisdom from this saint or that. I have never encountered a saint who spoke or wrote endlessly about world events and politics to then say a word or two about the faith, or who had to rush out in the public square to shout his political opinions to all who would listen. In the end, my streams were just one step above Fox News.

I’m not leaving you in the lurch. In my article Forecast Of The End Of The World, I carefully lay out how the world operates and what I believe will happen in the future. As of now, many news stories you encounter will fit into that framework. To continually discuss coronavirus week after week, for example, or gawk at a new war that we can view from the comfort of our homes, is gratuitous and merely a form of entertainment. You already have all that you need to know on an intellectual level about how the Antichrist will deceive the world, and now you simply need to strengthen your faith. Also, Roosh V Forum is active with hundreds of posts each day concerning every topic under the sun, including current events. Many astute men (and women) post there and can help you connect the dots of what is happening in the world.

It’s possible that in many months I will decide to do something like a topical podcast, but I prefer writing because I can perfect it through the editing process and remove inflamed quips and mistakes in judgment that I simply can’t do when speaking from an outline. God has shown me that for a passionate and impulsive person like myself who is prone to going too far in the moment, speaking in front of an audience is far more dangerous than writing, a methodical activity that does not dump any adrenaline within me.

Repentance is hard. Everything you were doing up to that point must be carefully examined with a spiritual lens. I had unpublished all my pickup books and articles, thinking that’s all I needed to do, but that was just the beginning, as I am in the process of changing countless other personal behaviors and habits to align myself with the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. I must put God above my worldly pursuits, and if God tells me to give up everything then I must give up everything. Until then, I will commit to writing articles here and operating Roosh V Forum. For those of you who enjoyed my streams, I hope you stick around, because I think I have more to contribute without darkening your mind by showcasing all of Satan’s modern handiwork.

Roosh, podcasting is same as talking. Talking is the same as writing. I think you're overthinking this.

This news today hit me really hard. I really starting following Roosh in 2018 as he was converting to Christianity. I have never met Roosh or interacted with him in any way other than buying his books so I couldn’t figure out why this bothered me so much. Roosh is the only living person that inspires me to be a Christian. I simply cannot relate to other Christians in my community or other Christian Internet personalities. So I feel like I have lost a mentor. I understand that format of the Roosh hour may be detrimental to our spiritual growth but I really hope Roosh will continue to have a online presence in terms of speaking.

Hey Roosh, hope you start doing podcasts, I love to hear your takes on the world, by taking of the live and the visual element I think lot of the sinful emotions fall away. You could for example open a thread for questions we have and we would love your take on, and you take some of these you see it in your podcast.

Sorry to hear the podcasts were causing you issues. Hearing about your return to Christ in your own words was a major factor in my own coming to Christ. Reading these comments, I see I’m far from the only one you helped. So, it seems that there was at least some positive fruits to your efforts. Looking forward to whatever you do next.

Hi Roosh, thanks so much for all the streams and the work you must have put in behind the scenes gathering the information together. I really enjoyed listening to them, if I'm honest I started for entertainment, I cannot deny that.

I love your presenting style and inquisitive nature in getting to the bottom of stories and explaining your take on them. I have followed you ever since your game days and used to eagerly read all your articles, my respect for you in that area made it so that when you started talking about God I couldn't ignore you like I may have done a different person.

If it wasn't for you I would likely never have considered God and Christianity, my family and upbringing were very atheist and anti religion in many ways, you talking about it has helped me start the process of moving back towards it and I thank you again for that.

I respect your decision to end Roosh Hour. I loved the streams and I thought the length was great. They will be missed. I hope you can produce some more content of your choosing as I thoroughly enjoy listening to you and I'm sure it will bring great benefit to your listeners.

Thanks once again Roosh.

Roosh take on the Ukrainian/Russian case would be interesting. Sad. Just sitting there being secular won't change the world. The tractors never stood still, never they will be. And what is bad with a bit of light-footed entertaining; laughing at the clownesk present times? You're like a ship in a storm. From being an extreme pickup-deluder, making your way-of-life out of it to taking things too seriously in the religious quest. Aristotle's Golden Mean.

It's your path and your path alone, if the podcast was taking you off your path you had to ditch it, so that you could get back on your path again.

@Roosh

I've "disliked" your post not because I desperately want you to keep doing live streams but because I think your overall approach is wrong. I'll share some of my thoughts for your consideration.

I still vividly remember your early 2020s streams on the covid-19 pandemic and they were top notch. It gave you a focus which I believe had been lacking before for a while and seems to have returned in recent times. I used to follow you because even though I didn't share your PUA lifestyle, you were masterfully exposing feminism when all we got from "Christians" were half-baked platitudes.

Even though I'm glad you left PUA behind and converted, I'm also worried about where you're taking this. I've been a Christian for most of my life with many ups and downs. That's just how it is. Do you realize that the devil can use scrupulosity as a weapon against you, to actually lead you to spiritual fatigue and destroy you and your faith in the process?

Been there, done that.

Perhaps I'm wrong but that's the impression I get from you at times. I've seen a tremendous amount of projection in the content you put out in recent times and this worries me. I've seen this in how you equate 'incels' with 'fornicators', for instance. Also, if you decide to stay put and choose martyrdom in the face of covid-19 tyranny, that's perfectly laudable and a sentiment I share, but it doesn't necessarily apply to everyone. You even acknowledged that yourself.

Just because you struggle with some sin doesn't mean everyone is struggling with it to the same extent if at all. As much as I believe in the importance of the spiritual life and the virtues of asceticism, there is a danger in overspiritualizing everything. Hatred of the world doesn't mean we can't do anything unless it's spiritual.

Father Kosmas in his lecture on Toll Houses actually mentioned how some people come to Church and just want the spiritual life but nothing else. You know how he answers them? He tells them to get a job or an occupation and embrace the responsibility that comes with it. The secular/temporal sphere has its place in our lives as well.

As much as I respect you as a person, I believe you need to decide what your focus will be as a public figure. Perhaps you have to decide whether you want to remain in the public sphere at all at this stage and, if you do, what will be your mission? It was clear to me back in the PUA days but today it honestly isn't that clear to me anymore.

I interpreted your previous article as a lamentation on how people are approaching you as a guru of sorts. I imagine the frustration but that's the price you pay for being in the public sphere. I wish you could let your faith shed a light on what you learned from the mistakes of your past but the way I see it you seem to keep beating yourself up about it and make public penance.

As someone who's converting to Orthodoxy, I understand the zeal and sympathize. But I don't expect you to be "perfect". Nobody is. But here's the deal: do you want to be an Orthodox apologist or lead young men to become more wholesome individuals, inspired by your Orthodox faith? Those are two different things, in my view. What you've learned from your sinful past experiences can still be put to good use.

As much as I understand that live streams come with some temptations and sins such as pride, this could actually be an opportunity for you to overcome these sins. There is no shame in taking a break from everything for a while and I sure don't blame you for that but I think you're being too categorical in your approach.

A writer wants to reach an audience with a certain message. When he reaches an audience and the message resonates, he may get invited to interviews. There is a danger of becoming prideful as the writer reaches a certain level of popularity. Yet does that mean the writer has to stop writing out of fear of becoming prideful, rather than fight that pride?

At any rate, it's up to you and I wish you the best.

The good thing about these streams was that you didn't just talk about the gloom and doom like 95% of "truthers" these days. You actually offered a solution to the spiritual war we are facing.

People who were already religous when watching these streams will treat them as entertainment. But for atheists , this was more like modern day preaching. These streams can un-do a lifetime of anti-christian hollywood/mainstream propaganda.

I think I read somewhere that a person has to be subjected to a piece of information about 17 times before changing his beliefs (or something like that)

When I started watching these I tolerated the christian and religious talk, because I was here for the truth being shared about the various topics. But the more I watched, the more I saw bible quotes that seemed to describe everything that's happening, the more I started to believe. Now I have started my journey to becoming a christian. I am sure a lot of new believers have a similar path.

So these streams do help a lot of people. Just wanted to share that.

It is understandable, and good for you, Darius, though I will certainly miss seeing you. While your streams may have stirred up passion for you, I found them comforting. I hope you find an Orthodox way to do something similar in the future.
