Andrew Torba:"The ADL is calling for the government to shut Gab down because we once quoted Revelation 3:9 on Twitter.
A Bible verse.
The ADL, and the media by proxy, are now labeling *Bible verses* as "hate speech" and "anti-semitic.""
Are you paying attention yet, Christian?
"

Hmm, are we sure the ADL isn't the Aipac Defense League? Asking for a friend!

Gab accused of being a honeypot:
According to Gab CEO's "An Open Letter...":
Gab seeks to export the uniquely American value of free speech to the entire world. Regardless of whether Gab’s administrators, outside activist pressure groups, “cancel culture” Internet mobs, the mainstream media, foreign governments, or any other persons agree with any Gabber’s viewpoints: political speech that is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution will be allowed on the platform. Illegal activity, threats of violence, doxxing, pornography, child exploitation, and spam are not allowed on Gab.

Free speech does not mean threats of violence or illegal activity. Gab has zero tolerance for illegal activity of any kind on our platform. We have a great relationship with International, Federal, State, and Local law enforcement to ensure public safety.

You might see things you disagree with on Gab. You might see things that offend you. We have the tools for you to block, mute, and not see those things if you so choose. On Gab you create your own experience. We do not babysit for you. Our job is to ensure the service works and that no illegal activity is tolerated on the platform. That’s it.

"Free speech" is a polluted term. Forget even arguments about whether truly free speech is even desirable, forget what you or this or that other person might mean by it, I'm just talking about the term as a "brand" so to speak - it's just filthy and useless now. Find another term, "open discussion" or something.

While that is true, freedom of speech is tied strongly to the concepts of freedom and opposition to tyranny. You can have open discussion in China, as long as you don't say things the CCP doesn't tolerate, the issue is dissent not being tolerated. The real issue is the conflation of actions and communication. Inciting violence arguably blurs the line between communicating with others and directly committing an action with consequences. However, as long as dissidents are ostracised and attacked, this issue will only be further exacerbated.

This is why for years the term "violence" has been thrown around for ridiculous things - "to alter the name of a transperson", etc. It's not just delusion, not just a narcissistic play to shine the spotlight on your poor little oppressed self, the term "violence" is specifically used to establish that such things do not fall under the banner of free speech, that mispronouncing some troons name is like yelling fire in a crowded theater and must be punished as such.

@ PRO Gabbers

I'm contemplating starting uploading my shit on Gab TV, seems legit what they're building. 100 bucks a year for uploads and supporting good people? Would bang ;)

The problem I have are Gab's payment options. I'm living outside the U.S. so I think paying by check is not an option. The only realistic option is apparently bitcoin. I know what bitcoin is but so far I've had literally zero experience with it. Do you use it? How can I get started?

I think the real issue may lie at the core. Perhaps examples like shouting fire in a crowded theatre aren't issues for the reasons we think they are. Would telling people in a crowded theatre that you think there's a fire be fine as long as you don't shout? Is shouting anything near a crowd appropriate? At what point do we make others responsible for others actions, because at the moment, we are very happy to blame people for the actions of others. Perhaps shouting fire in a crowded theatre should never have been a crime in the first place? Perhaps people should have learned to think for themselves instead of being treated like children?
