Is it wrong to yearn for nice, pleasant and beautiful things? Is it wrong to yearn for pleasure?...

I feel like the answer to this is yes.

Wanting to be rich (rather than just making ends meet) and wanting a beautiful girl for her "hotness" or to show her off and make people envy you (rather than wanting her for her values, devotion to God, and ability to give you children) seem wrong to me.

The same goes for a woman who chooses a man to marry based on his money or status (rather than his values/having a genuine connection with him).

I'm not saying these things (a woman's beauty and a man's money and status) don't matter. They reflect who you are as a person. A man with good values who follows God is more likely to be financially stable and be respected by his community. A woman with good values is likely to have inner beauty and therefore be more attractive.

But I can't get behind the idea of wanting money, status, beautiful women, and material things for their own sake.

There's a difference between wanting a fat wallet and lots of money in the bank just to show off, and wanting abundance so that you can hold your head up high with pride (self respect) make wise spending choices and maybe help others too.

I'm not sure there is that big of a difference.

You yourself refer to it as "pride."

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be well off, avoid poverty, and be able to provide. That's not the same as wanting to be rich beyond what you actually need and sacrificing important things in life (e.g. delaying marriage and children) in order to achieve it.

It's not that I want any of those things in order to show off. But they are nice things to have, and I think a certain amount of pleasure and comfort do add to a person's happiness.

When I say pride I just mean the dignity and self respect that come from achievement, especially if it involves helping others. It feels good to achieve things, apply oneself and benefit people. It feels good to be useful and have a purpose.

As for yearning, I don't mean obsessively.

Its incredible really. When I went to school my history classes taught nothing but Christian/white oppression of others. The media my whole life has pushed nothing but Jewish persecution fantasy and those evil Christians. I cant play a video game or discuss things on any forum without the subject of Jewish victimhood eventually getting thrown in everyone's face as if its accepted undeniable fact.

The reality though and the truth that is kept from us paints an entirely different story.

I really do admire those, that carry the burden and weather the storm of revealing these truths and exposing the lies.

King James didn't translate the King James Bible. And if homosexual infestation of a Christian denomination somehow falsifies their translations, you've got no room to be touting Roman Catholic translations.

Recent RC translations go so far as to take the exact same positions that they used to condemn the KJV for. For example, Luke 1:28 in the NAB.

You've got a lot of good information to share about Catholicism since it's a topic you're familiar with. But to speak about Bible translations or the Protestant Reformation, you've got to learn before you criticize. None of the educated Protestants reading a post like that can react to it any differently than you'd react to a Jack Chick tract.

Key word: recent.

From what I understand, the Catholic Church became a lot more Protestant-like and became more accepting of Protestant ideas after Vatican II in the 1960s.

I mean, a few years ago some Catholic churches even celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

And yes, in the same time period, the mainstream Catholic churches have been infested by homosexuals. That is (one of the reasons) why I chose a SSPX church and I wouldn't go anywhere near a mainstream Catholic church.

If you happen to be blesses with money, comfort, or whatever, then it is OK to enjoy it responsibly (and use it to benefit your family and community).

It is just that in our current culture, especially in America, all anyone wants is "nice things." Men are willing to work hard for years, and their motivation is not that they want to provide for their family, live a stable life, and give back to their community. Their motivation is that they want status, "nice" things, and "beautiful" women (where "beautiful" is defined solely by a woman's outwardly appearance and her ability to cause envy in other men).

All good things must be referred back to God. Such things if it is simply and end to itself without acknowleging God isnt right.

On the other hand God is the author of physical beauty and all the other good things in life.

Disparaging such things is just as sinful. Calling Good Evil(Isaiah 5:20).

And in regards to sexuality the Song of Solomon affirms the goodness of physical beauty in both man and woman.

It's easy to do as their personal diarys and "letters" and other writings are all available on Amazon so you can read right from the horses mouth what kind of occult quasi atheistic b.s. they believed in.

They weren't originals, and kind of like "Gnostic gospels" are pretty obvious came from different writers. I can answer more in depth if that's what you're referring to. "Saint" Jerome himself didn't consider them divinely inspired and incongruent with Biblical texts. Later I think I recall him coming around. But as you say. Corporate echo chamber 101. I think of all these things created by thought, by the mind, and overlay them on the day I took LSD and was in what I can only call the Divine. If you came to me with these ideas of Christ I could only respond with something seemingly ridiculous like "look at that tree, isn't that incredible", then you'd not know what I was talking about, and I'd say "I'm going to look at that tree some more", and that would be the extent of our meeting.

So you'd go to a priest somewhere in a place, like a church, or maybe his house, and then you'd start saying these passages from a book written by a human mind, and I'd be scratching my head, like ... what an odd thing to do...look at these trees, and the grass, and the sky, it's absolutely incredible, everything is shimmering, I can see that everything is in fact, energy, and it is absolutely incredible, and so beautiful.

I found out that the material world is mostly space; i.e. tables, bodies, grass, everything is made up of atoms. An atom has a center called the nucleus, and this nucleus has electrons flying around it. This is where things get interesting, the distance between a nucleus and its electrons is comparable to a ping-pong ball in a football stadium. In other words, there is a lot of space there. In the case of the New Testament, definitely not. They used a Byzantine text like the one the Vulgate was translated from, not one of the butchered critical texts which most of the 21st century translations are done from.

The Old Testament is a bit trickier. The KJV translators worked from the Hebrew Masoretic Text, made in the middle ages by the Jews who standardized their text and burned all the old copies. The Masoretic Text is different from the Hebrew that St. Jerome translated the Vulgate Old Testament from, and that was different from the Greek Septuagint that the early Christians used (they were quite certain the Jews had screwed with the Hebrew test to delete references to Christ).

Like the medieval scholastics, I learn towards using all of the available Old Testament texts. I usually read from the KJV, but I'll check the Vulgate and Brenton's translation of the Septuagint when I have an Old Testament question.

I posted this in the Coronavirus thread but also wanted to share it here.

I strongly believe what is going on now is the fulfillment of the 2009 prophecy of world renowned pastor David Wilkerson. (May 19, 1931 – April 27, 2011)

Pastor Wilkerson is most known for his ministry and running faith based rehabilitation programs for drug addicted teens and gang members in New York City. He is also the founding pastor of the non-denominational Times Square Church in New York City.

He is also known for his prophetic messages which to date have all but come true, including the vision he received in 1973 concerning America including:

"Worldwide recession caused by economic confusion"; "Nature having labor pains"; "A flood of filth and a baptism of dirt in America"; "Rebellion in the home"; and "A persecution madness against truly Spirit filled Christians who love Jesus Christ"

And many more if you read the book, all of which we know to be true in today's day and age with tranny story time, abortion factories, and Christian's being made out to be the enemies of civilization.

I have been a follower of Pastor Wilkerson for many years, he is truly a legit and humble pastor who's only purpose in life was to preach the word of God and the salvation available through Jesus.

Even though his church was pulling in a few million yearly in New York and his books have sold millions of copies all over the world, he opted to live on a modest salary and drive an old Honda so as to remain humble and not corrupted by money.

I'm giving all that background to establish that (although he was the pastor of a very large church) he was not one of those mega church scammer pastors you see on TV. He actually always spoke out against that type of ministry.

Getting to the prophecy now, I remember reading it back in 2009 when he put out the urgent warning. I kept thinking to myself back then, and every-time I re-read it throughout the years "what could possibly affect the whole world and all its major cities during the same time frame?" The answer is finally a here, a massive pandemic caused by a virus.

Here is the full prophecy and my commentary.

AN URGENT MESSAGE
I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE - EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.

When this Virus first started to get large in the US, I kept hearing that many Christian leaders were claiming that it will not affect "the children of God".

That all went out the window when reports of pastors and members in their own church's started to die from the virus. I believe as this gets bigger many Godly men will have their foundations shaken by what awaits us during the outbreak and in the aftermath.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

"Thousand fires" could literally be fires to come, or it could be a reference to the COVID-19 that is spreading like thousands of fires all over New York City.

I am already seeing reports of looting and rioting in Whuan and Southern Italy, how much longer until this becomes wide spread world wide, especially in the "Major cities all across America."

If things continue to get worse, and forced quarantines actually do happen, you can expect this part of the prophecy to be fulfilled next.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

This is one of the parts that most stands out to me "He is destroying the secular foundations."

Look what foundations are taking the harshest hits, sporting (idol worshiping) events, Hollywood, bars/nightclubs, restaurants (which all serve alcohol) globohomo events, pride marches, partying on beaches, etc. etc.

As this progresses, expect more institutions that serve no purpose in society but to spread satan's agenda to be affected by this

The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.

WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD’S PEOPLE?

First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

This is the first piece of advice members in these threads started to give, pastor Wilkerson gave us this heads up 11 years ago to be ready.

As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).

I will say to my soul: No need to run...no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.

Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

This is one of the most important parts of the message "I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off." and it wasn't far off, it took place 11 years after he gave the warning.

Now I want to address all the skeptics, think about this, why would such a highly esteemed man risk his whole life's work, all his credibility, and his entire reputation on something that profited him nothing?

He sold nothing, gained nothing, and benefited in no way by giving out this message. Instead, he was doubted, criticized, and called a loon, false prophet, and many other things.

Even to me reading this prophesy over and over throughout the years, knowing the credibility of the pastor, still had my doubts with thoughts like "how could these things happen?", and "it seems so impossible, did he somehow get this prophecy wrong?"

But I knew this man had no reason to lie so I waited, and I strongly believe what he wrote and warned about in 2009 is now here.

Jesus is descended from Judah Patrilineally via Joseph without genetic and indirectly via Mary but with genetic descent via the holy spirit.

Agreed I think Jerome even accepted the Hebrew Canon that excluded all the Apocrypha and Deuterocanonical books.

Which is what all Protestant Bibles are about.

Speaking of Bible translations and how they can be misleading,

What is the Catholic position on lay people reading and interpreting the Bible?

I know that during the Protestant Reformation, one of the major issues was whether or not lay people should be reading the Bible (as opposed to having it interpreted by priests and scholars).

The old Catholic position seemed to be (correct me if I'm wrong) that lay people should not be reading or interpreting the Bible for themselves, but now virtually all Catholics encourage Bible reading. Even praying the Rosary requires you to read and meditate on certain Bible passages.
