Yep.
The cartoonish façade is one thing.
The underlying premise is much more pertinent.

One can live in anger, annoyance, apathy or amusement...

I think the idea of clown world goes back a long way. Honk Honkler is just the latest example.

Row, row, row your boat,
gently down the stream
merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
life is but a dream

What good is sitting alone in your room?
Come hear the music play
Life is a cabaret, old chum
Come to the cabaret

Put down the knitting, the book and the broom
It's time for a holiday
Life is a cabaret, old chum
So come to the cabaret

Come taste the wine
Come hear the band
Come blow that horn
Start celebrating right this way
Your table's waiting

What good's permitting some prophet of doom
To wipe every smile away
Life is a cabaret, old chum
So come to the cabaret

I used to have this girlfriend known as Elsie
With whom I shared four sordid rooms in Chelsea
She wasn't what you'd call a blushing flower
As a matter of fact she rented by the hour

The day she died the neighbors came to snicker
"Well, that's what comes from too much pills and liquor"
But when I saw her laid out like a Queen
She was the happiest corpse, I'd ever seen

I think of Elsie to this very day
I remember how she'd turn to me and say
"What good is sitting all alone in your room?
Come hear the music play
Life is a cabaret, old chum
Come to the cabaret

And as for me
And as for me
I made my mind up, back in Chelsea
When I go, I'm going like Elsie

Start by admitting from cradle to tomb
Isn't that long a stay
Life is a cabaret, old chum
It's only a cabaret, old chum
And I love a cabaret

This really started back in 2008 with Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight.

Holy fuck that movie and his performance are overrated as fuck
No one would care 1/10th as much it if he didn't die ...its not like he was setting the world on fire with his acting before hand...
Typical Sean Penn attention seeking shit ie act gay or retarded in a role ....so challenging!

Dude was on Home and Away ffs...lock yourself up in a hotel room ...wow so deep!
Whats next? Sleep next to monkeys in a zoo to "get into the part" for planet of the apes?

I bet you're fun at parties.

When normal forms of critical debate and expressions of dissatisfaction are supressed and policed by our tyrannical overlords Memes are one of the few options we have.

Beware the nay-sayers and shut it down types that will be doing mental cartwheels to derail it. May the Meme trains power forward!

Haha Honk Pill. This forum is ridiculous..

The True Honkpiller are Seinfeld and Larry David. Seinfeld never gave a shit and made fun of everything. Larry David then evolutionized Seinfeld in to Curb, where he made fun of the idea of actually caring.

I get the "deeper meaning" angle for sure. But this reminded me of a previous comment in the morality thread.

Modern life is therefore lopsided in the sense that we're overloaded with creature comfort and cheap amusement and (for the beautiful, sex on tap). But what it lacks is a greater sense of purpose. We strive to feel useful to a "tribe". Individualism doesn't give us that.

How do people fill those gaps? Through hashtag movements, of course.

The left has their hashtags. The right has their memes. Enjoy them -- nothing wrong. But it goes against the whole concept of rugged individualism and masculinity to an extent. Can you imagine your most masculine role model sharing a clown meme on social media? I'm laughing at the thought. Nonetheless, I do admire the genius of memes from a creative and artistic expression stand point.

Queue the meme images of masculine role models sharing clown memes (further destroying what/who we admire).

Try turning off the Internet for a week and see if the world becomes more sane. In my real world life, people are actually pretty normal. No pills needed.

I find the internet much more sane.

Like most things, it's all a matter of who you associate with. In my case (and the people that like the meme), avoiding the insanity in real life is difficult. You simply can't avoid the insanity if you live in a big coastal city in the US or a town with a public university.

So this is just a variation of 'enjoy the decline?'

Yeah, at first I thought it merely a re-packaged variation of 'Enjoy the Decline' (but much, much funnier). It might just be me but I can't even look at that Clown Pepe face for long without breaking into a smile.

To me though, to 'Enjoy the Decline' properly means taking advantage of and exploiting the system to suit your own ends. Thus, you're not quite as 'outside of society looking in' as our honking friend, as you are still having to interact with the world in order to further your own interests.

If I've got this right, Clown World may actually retain all the goodness of 'Enjoy the Decline' but with the added benefit of being able to piss off Leftists while energising Rightists by virtue of being able to point and laugh at the stupid stuff they do? So, not quite as selfish, as it actually has some weight behind it.

Roosh is destroyed by your logic.

I'm not seeing how a meme goes against masculinity.

I also disagree that masculinity is about being a rugged individual. Men are social creatures and we bond over stuff. Hence the reason that a forum like this exists.
