I don't know anymore! I was sure that they would not increase rates in order to save the dollar, but now they've done just that. So a default becomes more likely than ever before. It might not be in US Government hands any longer, as the willingness to lend to the US is diminishing fast.
The purpose of raising rates was to squeeze every other currency. Now, the rest of the worlds debt (which is mostly USD) is more expensive. They need to get USD to pay that debt. USD demand rises, and it gets stronger compared to all other fiat. The ECB and BOE was practically begging the Fed to stop! Short term it was great for the US…really bad for other central banks. If BOJ and ECB bonds are yielding less than US, yet their currencies are inflating faster, which bonds will the market choose?

Race-swapped Cleopatra Netflix earns 1 percent rotten tomatoes audience score

The Netflix show Queen Cleopatra was released on Wednesday to abysmal ratings. As of publication, the show has over 2,500 audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for an aggregate score of 1 percent, the lowest score possible on the website.

The show also has an average critic score of 11 percent with only one out of nine critics giving it a favorable rating. With over 35 thousand reviews on IMDB, Queen Cleopatra has a rating of 1.1 out of 10 making it among the lowest rated shows listed on the website.

The docudrama about the ancient Egyptian queen was the subject of controversy prior to being released due to a black woman portraying Cleopatra. According to CBS, Egyptians were not happy with the producers for appropriating their culture and rewriting history.

"Since the film is classified as a documentary and not a drama, those making the film have to be accurate and it should be based on historical and scientific facts, to ensure that history and civilizations are not falsified," the Egyptian Ministry said. "The rejection of the film before its screening was in defense of the history of Queen Cleopatra… and has nothing to do with racism."

Lawyer Mahmoud El-Semiry filed a formal complaint to investigate and possibly ban Netflix in Egypt over the controversy. "We have known for thousands of years that Cleopatra is of Greek origin and was born in Egypt. This is a fact," he said. "Our main objection is the falsification of these facts. It is not about being Black or White or even Yellow. Let's say they wanted to portray Cleopatra as a man, we would also object to that."

"I did think people would talk about it, and I did think people would be excited about it," Cleopatra actress Adelle James told Glamour. "There are versions of Cleopatra that exist already with actresses in that role who are fairer skinned than I am, but I think I have every right to have a shot at humanizing this incredible woman."

Why some Egyptians are fuming over Netflix's Black Cleopatra

Cairo — As soon as Netflix dropped the trailer for its upcoming "docudrama" about ancient Egypt's Queen Cleopatra, drama started bubbling up online. The preview quickly drew criticism. Some Egyptians complained that the feature was appropriating their culture and rewriting their history, primarily because Cleopatra is portrayed by a Black woman in the film.

The movie, produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and starring biracial British actor Adele James as Queen Cleopatra, is set for release on May 10. It is the second part of a Netflix "docuseries" on African queens, focused on female rulers from the African continent.

In the latest official response to the controversy, Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued a long statement at the end of April stressing that "Queen Cleopatra had light skin and Hellenistic (Greek) features."

The statement criticized Netflix for casting James, whom the ministry said has "African features and dark skin," to play Cleopatra.

Who was Cleopatra, and who's complaining?
Cleopatra was the last ruler of ancient Egypt's Ptolemaic dynasty. She was the all-powerful queen for about two decades, until her death in 30 BC. Her story has been told in literature and by Hollywood for years, and while she's often portrayed primarily as a temptress, historians note that she was also very likely a "consummate politician."

Some critics of the upcoming Netflix version of her story have argued that, while ancient Egypt is often portrayed inaccurately by Hollywood, fiction is one thing, but anything presented as a documentary is another.

"Since the film is classified as a documentary and not a drama, those making the film have to be accurate and it should be based on historical and scientific facts, to ensure that history and civilizations are not falsified," the Egyptian Ministry said, stressing that "the rejection of the film before its screening was in defense of the history of Queen Cleopatra… and has nothing to do with racism."

An Egyptian lawyer filed a formal complaint against the film, asking the public prosecutor "to investigate and take all legal measures against the creators of this work and against the platform's management for participating in this crime, and ban the platform in Egypt."

"We have known for thousands of years that Cleopatra is of Greek origin and was born in Egypt. This is a fact," Mahmoud El-Semiry, the lawyer who filed the complaint, told CBS News. "Our main objection is the falsification of these facts. It is not about being Black or White or even Yellow. Let's say they wanted to portray Cleopatra as a man, we would also object to that."

Does it matter if Netflix's Cleopatra is Black or White?
A feeling that Egypt must protect its cultural identity from appropriation, and that there are people actively trying to illegitimately claim it, appears to be the primary driving force behind the strong reaction to the Netflix feature.

Some Egyptians believe the casting decision is part of an elaborate scheme, backed by Black American celebrities, to "blackwash" their ancient history. They view it as an overreach by the Afrocentrism movement and a bid by non-Egyptians to claim Egyptian heritage as their own.

"I am against the film because it is pushing an Afrocentric agenda, regardless of the historical accuracy of whether Cleopatra was Black or White," Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Monica Hanna told CBS News. "They are imposing the identity politics of the 21st century and appropriating the ancient Egyptian past, just as the Eurocentrists and the far-right in Europe are doing."

"The Afrocentrists are just a mirror of the Eurocentrists," argued Hanna."They're both racists and both inaccurate and incorrect."

"I understand why Egyptians are angry, but I reject any racist comments," Hanna told CBS News. "Egyptians were let down by their formal studies of their past. Such debates and critical issues are never part of the school curricula. That's why Egyptians have a very fragile understanding of their past."

What race was Cleopatra?
Ancient "Egyptians were all colors," according to Hanna. "Egypt was more of a culture than a race, and the idea of skin color is really irrelevant in the ancient world."

The antiquity ministry's statement said Cleopatra was descended from a Macedonian family that ruled Egypt for nearly 300 years, and as per customs of that time, kings married their sisters and kept their Macedonian race "pure" during this period. Many archaeologists share the government's take on Egypt's ancient history, and leave no room for doubt about the queen's skin color.

But Hanna told CBS News the facts from more than 2,000 years ago were less clear.

"We do not know for sure whether Cleopatra was Black or White or even red, and we don't even know if she thought of herself as an Egyptian or not," said the archaeologist. "We have not discovered her tomb. We have not been left with any contemporary descriptions of her. We do not know who her mother was nor who her grandmother was."

"We can argue about her complexion and whether she identified herself as Egyptian or not," she added. "But most likely, we will not find a real answer, because maybe it doesn't exist yet."

What does Adelle James think about the controversy?
James, who portrays the ancient queen, told the U.K.'s Glamour magazine in an interview published earlier this month that she expected the Netflix feature to generate a certain amount of discussion about race.

"I did think people would be excited about it," she told the magazine. "I remember when I first got the audition and how excited I was that they were doing something like this in terms of the racial precedent, but also in terms of just humanizing her on so many other levels and her not being likened to this sexual temptress that she's been portrayed to be. I was expecting some backlash because I grew up as a biracial woman in the Western world, and I know how things go, but I wasn't expecting the level of it. The lawsuits and accompanying things like that are a bit intense."

James echoed Hanna's point, noting that "we just don't know" what Cleopatra's skin tone actually was, and adding that she felt she had "every right to have a shot at humanizing this incredible woman."

I think that's giving to much credit to the US Government/FED tbh. It's more likely that they had to raise rates to curb run-away inflation. The USD has lost significant value to the EUR during the course of the last year also, so that contradicts that theory.

Toronto 'Anti-Capitalist' Pay-When-You-Can Cafe Shuts Down After Just One Year

A Toronto cafe for anti-capitalists, "The Anarchist," is permanently shuttering after just 12 months in business after following a "pay-when-you-can" business model.

The Anarchist describes itself as an "anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land."

"Unfortunately, the lack of generational wealth/seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources left me unable to weather the quiet winter season, or to grow in the ways needed to be sustainable longer-term," the owner, Gabriel Sims-Fewer wrote last week.

The Anarchist, which opened for business in March of 2022, went viral last year, with internet users mocking the leftist cafe for charging high prices for its “speciality” coffee as well as selling “radical” art, books, clothing, jewellery, tote bags, and stickers. -Breitbart
"Fuck the rich. Fuck the police. Fuck the state. Fuck the colonial death camp we call "Canada"," Gabriel wrote.

"It’s been an amazing experience, connecting with so many great community members, sparking desperately needed debate, raising the blood pressure of Conservatives (that includes you, “anarcho-capitalists” and “Libertarians”), fulfilling the dream of most service workers by not having to tolerate the presence of professional class-traitors (pigs and military), and experimenting with living and working in ways that don’t enthusiastically embrace the pure misanthropy of Capitalism," he continued.

How could this have possibly happened?

What a joke. The cost of rent, utilities, furnishings and equipment for that store must be substantial, since it appears to be in an upscale retail area in Toronto. Furthermore, even at minimum wage, the cost to staff the store for a conventional set of open hours for a donut shop must be substantial. I'd think that store would need at least CA$5000/week clear to break even, after subtracting the costs for the food supplier. At $1/donut and $2 per cup of coffee revenue over cost of supplies, that's about 240 customers/day.

There's a reason most businesses like this don't last. It's really hard to operate profitably. If they mess around with this anarchy nonsense that will alienate a large percentage of potential customers, and then turn around and give food away below cost to a certain percentage of people coming through the door, how can they possibly make ends meet?

They must have never run the numbers as to the cost of operating a business, then had some foolish donor put up the startup expenses, and thought everything would just magically work out.

It's all like an extremely long and elaborate joke but the punchline never comes...

I’m trying to figure out how this film was even made, someone at lions gate approved the money to cast, produce/film, and pay to get it in theaters. I’m amazed it lasted in theaters for 3 months? The studio may have bought tickets and gave them out, to show that it had some sales?

I'm equally amazed that people paid any money at all to see this garbage. Is this supposed to be a plot? My word, this should have grossed $0.00

The theater has lost its theatrics, now its just goy-slop for the mind, to keep the dumbed-down masses, who are cut off from God, from prayer, from history, from family, from Christian mores, addled with just enough visual stimulation to keep their brains from shutting down so they can keep consuming more trash to float these degenerate media companies from one tirade of blasphemy to the next.

That headline sounds shocking, but the reasoning explained in this report does make some sense, depending on the type and size of animal. Perhaps they should not have pursued charges against her for it.

This is a tough one for me, she took in wild animals that would have otherwise been killed in nature. I don't think I would do that, as much as I love animals i would just call it the circle of life, but I also wouldn't have an issue with someone else wanting to give them a chance at life.

The hang up is the obvious hypocrisy of killing animals for not having a proper permit to care for them.

For me the hang up is the notion of requiring a permit.

For me the hang up is the notion of requiring a permit.

As most things probably started 60 years ago with good intentions. "We want to make sure people are capable of properly caring for the animals", but now has become weaponized to harass, control and intimidate people.

I used to have a farm where I took in some abandoned animals, not a rescue or anything and they weren't wild animals just added some more to my flock, I can only imagine how I would feel if someone came in and killed them over a damn permit.

If only Gabriel knew what Anarchy is…it isn’t the absence of rules — it is the absence of rulers. It is the rules of nature followed for everyone’s benefit — actual freedom.
Unfortunately, due to government “education”, Gabriel believes that the current system we have is capitalism, when in truth, we all live under a communist tyranny.

People like Gabriel are like the rats in the famous shock experiments. Put a rat in a cage and electrify the floor randomly, giving it no way to control or escape the shocks, and eventually it just gives up on life, stops eating, etc. Put 2 rats in the same experiment, and when the shocks come, they will fight each other; neither understands that the shocks are being caused by the lab assistant in the other room (government, in this case.)

Gabriel doesnt know where the shocks are coming from, and was trying to make it stop. The only way to stop it is to chew out of the cage.
