The importance of a good head of hair

This is the bottle I use (see attatchment)

I apply about two nickels worth to damp hair after a shower. My hair is almost shoulder length so adjust amount as necessary. You will have that slick sheen like Manolo in no time!

I like the other posters idea with all the extra stuff, just don't know if I'd have the time or patience to find and mix all that. Also check out some nice pomades from redken or bumble & bumble if slicking back is gonna be your go-to style.

John Hamm used some Redken Grip Tight medium hold hair gel when he played Don Draper. I've used it in conjunction with the AO and it looked fantastic although it felt gross to the hands. Pomades are better in this regard.

James Matador goes around wearing a wig - why? Because he pulls more girls wearing it than he would if he showed off his shiny head.

Guys losing their hair is not so different than girls packing on twenty pounds. Unless you're in the minority of guys who look good with a shaved head, you'll have dropped a couple of notches on the looks scale.

Sometimes I wonder if guys marry their girlfriends when they start seeing too much hair in their sinks.

Yeah but I doubt whether it really makes that much of a difference. As another poster said, if you're confident, dress well, and have something going for you it's probably secondary. You might drop very well a couple of notches on the looks scale, but is that really that important for girls? I have heard from female models that they're not really that into male models - they said that they think they're boring. Looking dominant - i.e. pumped up, confident and imposing is probably more important than looking "handsome".

Damn estraudi thats a lot of work. Another reason why I keep my hair short haha.

Scarface, does that AO control frizzy hair? Do you put the AO then the pomade right after? Im thinking of sleeping with a skull cap to train it to stay back.

Houston I actually sport a short fade as well. One of my friends is my stylist and she was the one who nudged me in the direction of that oil elixir i previously mentioned. It only takes 1 trip to the store(whole foods usually has cute aisle wanderers searching for random oils too so it's not a TOTAL waste of time, just game them too) and maybe 2 minutes tops to mix it all up @ home. It was worth the shot for me, you never know...

It works fantastic for keeping frizz down and just making your hair look more lustrous and shiny. More pleasant on the hands.

Here is my routine:

1. Shower with sulfate free conditioner only (no shampoo! Sodium Lauryll Sulfate is nasty shit and dries your hair out badly). I like to get my hair wet first thing and massage conditioner in it right at the beginning of the shower and leave the conditioner in for the duration of the rest of the shower as a wash my body. You don't have to buy some expensive shit, I use the 78 cent bottles of VO5 from Wal Mart and they are awesome. Just check the ingredients and avoid sulfates as they are the most damaging. Wash conditioner out at the end of shower.

2. Dry my hair after shower until it is damp but not "shiny" wet. Apply almond oil and "rake" into my hair using fingers. Concentrate on the tips rather than the roots as they need the moisture more. After desired level of smoothness just let it rest in your hair while you get ready for the next 10 mins

3. Apply your choice of pomade/gel/styling paste. Gels feel gross after a few hours and don't get along with the AO. Pomades are better and more pliable but also feel kind of gunky. Ive had the best luck with Redken Rewind #06 pliable styling paste. Smells great, feels light, allows me to constantly comb my fingers through my hair during the day and reshape my hair randomly.

This is the stuff:
redken-rewind-styling-paste-en.jpg

$17-20 and will last about a month for moderate-length hair.

And this is sort of the hairstyle I employ with it:

how-s2-key-art-590.jpg

Hell-on-Wheels.jpg

without the gun and cowboy getup, of course. If your hair is way short then maybe look into some bumble & bumble pomades as they have some of the nicer stuff but quite pricey at something like $27. As an overall product line I really like the redken, however.

Don't sleep with a skullcap, you will damage the way your hair grows and it fucks all sorts of things up health wise when your hair is constricted like that. At least thats the old Afghan folk shit I was told in my youth. Back when I wore my hair down one thing I would do that may help you (if thats the style you want) is to dry your hair till its damp and then wear a beanie around over your damp hair for like 30-45 mins. After you take it off your hair typically stays down for the rest of that day, even several hours later.

@houston try buying hair thinning scissors. I had the same issue then just started thinning my own hair when it got "clumpy" looks 100x better now

If you have hair what you do with it matters a lot. When I'm better groomed I get more attention from women.

Recently I went from a no-part cut like:
medium-length-mens-hairstyle.jpg

to a left part cut like:

Girls noticed - in a good way.

Somewhat heartbreaking thread for me. I started balding at 17 and was pretty much bald by the age of 23. I just had a hair transplant 3 months ago and I'm starting to get my hair back, I've never known adult life looking "normal" for my age hair-wise so I think it's going to be a big change for me.

I'm amazed by the fact that a lot of men on this forum don't even have the slightest idea of what it's like to be going bald at a young age. At least I see honest comments like: "A good head of hair is crucial etc." But in this thread, balding is rarely mentioned.

I think at the exception of PUA's like Krauser, most guys if they start losing their hair at a young age just give up on self-improvement altogether. That's what I did at first anyway. I stopped daygaming once I was bald, I mean, a bald 23 year old guy hitting on random women on the street? I didn't like the idea. I wonder how many people on this forum are balding or even bald in their 20's.

For the guys with a full head of hair, I'd like to ask one question and I would like an honest answer. On this forum, there's a lot of talk about daygame, pulling girls in clubs and all that. Do you think you'd still have the guts to walk up to a hot girl with a bald head? And I mean a truly shiny bald head, not shaved. Do you think there would still be a point doing daygame or going to nightclubs without the precious head of hair you're talking about in this topic?

I started losing my hair when I was 19 but it didn't become noticeable until I was in my late 20s.
Ironically, my sex life heated up as I got balder. Go figure.
Looking a bit like Jason Statham doesn't hurt.

In America and Britain it's huge as anything that can disqualify you WILL be used. Most of Europe and Latin America though, I think bald can work wonders. If in America, shave that shit and go complete bald. Women love that look.

If I started to go bald early on, then I'd rock the clean shaven head.

If you have the right shape head it could end up looking better and even more edgy than your actual hair did.

Hair is key. However, I'm not sure it necessarily has to do with having a full head of hair.

It's key that your face, body and clothing fit with your hairstyle. I'm convinced that most men, regardless of how much they're thinning up top can find a haircut and vibe that match their haircut.

To me, a hairstyle is as important as clothing or body type. In the right way, a man's hairstyle can turn a woman on in the same way all of love a woman with a long, thick head of hair.

It's worth your time to try out different looks along with a different haircut. A good haircut and style can add 2-3 points on your looks scale in the eyes of women.
In my experience, women find men with longer hair more approachable, and to some level this makes them have an edge in attractiveness since these women feel more comfortable in these mens presence, but still attracted.

Short hair/bald women still find attractive, but they become far more intimidated of these men. This is the look I've had forever, and because of my larger body type, I seem to have only outwardly attracted women who enjoy the bad boy types (outwardly as in women who approached me first).

I've started growing my hair for the past month however, and this was purely out of laziness, I noticed far more looks from women. My hair is still fairly short, but something about the longer hair has made my face look almost older, but in a good way. I started reading up, and it now seems like I'm going to invest in some good pomade for when I can party my hair and such.

Unless your skull has a perfect shape you will always look better with hair and the problem is vast majority of men do not have a perfectly shaped skull. Thats why the right hair cut is so important because it allows a guy to even a lot of the playing against a guy with perfect facial/skull features.

Anyone ever see how awful Ryan Gosling looked with a buzz cut?

600full-the-believer-photo.jpg

Add a good haircut, a little aftershadow and tan....a different ballgame(yes I know hes older here but same principle applies). You notice in this pic Gosling is able to cover up that occipital bone(back of the head) that protrudes out really far in the skinhead pic. This is exactly what a haircut can do for a guy. A perfect haircut is basically the equivalent of a custom fitted suite. If you shave your head it's like walking around naked. Some guys have perfect bodies so they would look good naked. Most guys will be at some disadvantage since they don't have perfect bodies.

While I agree with everything you said, what about when a dude is prematurely losing his hair and looks middle-aged in his early twenties? At that point the bald look becomes a much more sensible option. I personally have hair down to my shoulders and love it that way, but if I were to be faced with severe, imminent hair loss then my options would obviously begin to shrink.

One immediate observation that comes to mind is Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad. Although most would agree that he was definitely more "handsome" with his full head of hair in the beginning of the series, I would argue that he definitely looks more menacing and "alpha" with the bald look later on.

But you are right, its a tightrope for these guys. Look at the incongruency of Neil Strauss and his bald cut.

Absolutely. You need be congruent with the deck of cards given to you. If you're balding then like Bryan Cranston you need to own that look. That's why facial hair is extremely important when shaving your head. If you can't look like Gosling then own another look. Hit the gym, put some muscle on and rock a beard or goatee and look the part.

I rock an old school undercut, back and sides shaved to a 1 with the top slicked straight back.

The reception has been universally positive for me, so much so that I think it's pushed me over the line from average to good looking in girl's eyes. Either way the attention I've been getting has gone consistently up since I got it earlier this year. The magic is that it's mature and classic but also quite edgy at the same time. Even though shaved back and sides are ubiquitous right now I highly recommend this style. Maintenance = getting it trimmed every 2-3 weeks and simply waxing it straight back with a comb.

Might point out two things I've noticed, for the prematurely balding guys in this thread.

1) I have lost count of how many times I have seen a completely bald guy with a hot girl. Like really hot too. In each case though the guy came accross as a 'dominant' guy, even in the instances where they weren't that tall.

2) I have also lost count of how many times, when asked which actors they found attractive, girls have refered to Gosling as 'ick, does nothing for me', and then specifically mentioned Jason Statham. One girl said 'Mmm, eye candy'. Statham is a pretty damn ugly dude. But he is definately very dominant.

So probably the best thing would be to make it part of a dominant persona. Getting ripped, riding a motorbike, getting into fights and running afoul of the law etc :D.

Hey man, to be honest I think a lot of the posts here are a little off the mark. For many dudes their confidence is deeply rooted in a particular attribute they possess I.E: Muscles, height, hair. In this regard many feel that they would do 'terribly' without it.

The fact is though what these attributes really provide is confidence. When a guy gains muscle or gets a fresh hair style his confidence is causing the shift in female perception - Not the hair style.

As an example my brother went bald in his early 20's & he went through a rough period. I fortunately have a full head of hair. In my early 20's I decided to razor shave to help him feel a bit more comfortable about going out.

For me personally; girls would ask 'Are you shaving because you're going bald?' etc but in terms of pulling, it didn't make an ounce of difference.

Hair or no hair the results were more or less identical. I think however when a guy loses his hair & starts having less success with women, the primary reason he's not doing so well is the hit to his self esteem.

100% it's nothing like a woman packing on 20lb - It's more like a limitation of your hair style choices. Get a tan, stay in shape, have great style & perhaps do what my brother did [I think it's called an FUE Transplant] & frame the face. He's doing better than me with women & I'm currently sporting thick, long winter locks.

I've heard a woman say Brad Pitt was 'ick as well. Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. The average guy in his 20's being able to pull off a Gosling look will be in a much better spot than not. Most guys wouldn't come close too pulling off a Statham look because of facial/skull structure.

And you're crazy if you think Jason Statham is ugly. He's literally the perfect example of what every white balding guy could possible hope to look like. The guy has pretty amazing genetics going for him. It doesn't matter that he's balding bad....his skull is pretty much a prefect shape.

On a personal note I would be fucked if I ever went bald because I have a oddly shaped skull.
