When a guy gains muscle or gets a fresh hair style his confidence is causing the shift in female perception - Not the hair style.

This is completely false. Acting like the aesthetics have no effect and it's only the confidence you get from it that makes you more attractive is what scam artist PUA's tell schmucks to sell them bootcamps. Looks do matter in of itself. I have always been extremely confident, since I already have that the increased attention I get from putting on muscle and getting a cool haircut comes purely from the aesthetics. The increased confidence thing only applies to guys who aren't confident enough already, and even then being better looking itself is also driving their increased attractiveness.

I've heard a woman say Brad Pitt was 'ick as well. Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. The average guy in his 20's being able to pull off a Gosling look will be in a much better spot than not. Most guys wouldn't come close too pulling off a Statham look because of facial/skull structure.

And you're crazy if you think Jason Statham is ugly.
I've heard many women say Brad Pitt is ick. I've also heard women specifically mention Statham, Vin Diesel, and sometimes Bruce Willis, in that order, as 'sexy', with the guys from 'Geordy Shore' offered as the 'ick' counter examples. None of them specifically said 'I like them because they're bald / balding'. I just noticed a trend. Some women are into that rough look, they don't subscribe to the 'this is the optimum man' concept. They just like that. Same way as many chicks in Japan are into the ultra-weak, feminine and skinny host-boys. Why? So what why, they do.

OK I'm crazy, if you scroll so the top of his head is hidden. Statham is clearly a chisled pretty boy :D

Given that the other dudes in this thread are balding, it is largely irrelevant what is 'optimum', since they have little choice. The hair is going.
I am accurately pointing out to them that it is not a 'game over' situation, but a situation that does suggest other personal changes to make their look 'dominant' instead of say 'old' or 'weak'.

Of course aesthetics have an effect on picking up but if you don't have them with hair loss; you didn't have them before hair loss either. What I specifically quoted however was 'the misconception' that a simple haircut or a few pounds of muscle will cause a seismic shift in female perception.

This thread in particular is referring to hair loss; and for the poster I was addressing, my point still stands - Optimise you're physique i.e: Get athletic, get a tan, have good style & the girls you could get with hair will be just as achievable without it.

Hair is overrated. I've shaved my head and done fine. I have a luxurious head of hair and did fine.

Thing with hair....You can't be fat and bald.

Look at pics of Dana White. I use him as an example because he has an egg head and his weight fluctuates.

When he's fat, he looks shitty. When he's in shape, he looks OK.

One guy on a message board I read put it best:

Young and in shape with hair: did well.
Young and in shape with less hair: did well.
Older and in shape with missing hair: did well.
Older and slightly out of shape with no hair: did badly.
Older and out of shape with no hair: fucking awful.
Older and in shape with no hair: doing well.

I rock an old school undercut, back and sides shaved to a 1 with the top slicked straight back.

The reception has been universally positive for me, so much so that I think it's pushed me over the line from average to good looking in girl's eyes. Either way the attention I've been getting has gone consistently up since I got it earlier this year. The magic is that it's mature and classic but also quite edgy at the same time. Even though shaved back and sides are ubiquitous right now I highly recommend this style. Maintenance = getting it trimmed every 2-3 weeks and simply waxing it straight back with a comb.

(Not really slicked back, just to one side).

If youre reading this thinking that you dont have the right type of hair to pull that off (too thick/ curly), this is another option, which is my current haircut.

^My hair is curly and very thick, it becomes an afro when grown long. My style of undercut works great as long as the top is maintained often enough. It takes maybe 3 weeks of growth for it to get too unwieldy for me, but by that stage the back and sides have grown too long so I'd have to get it re-trimmed anyway even if I had normal hair. When I get it maintained I just take some length off the top and make sure they use thinning scissors.

My hair looked like this just before my hair transplant 3 months ago:

I'm 24 years old. Was I right not to even bother approaching girls anymore?

Guys my age are supposed to have cool hairstyles like ones posted above. Not to have a grandpa shiny head.

I just didn't the point. People mention Jason Statham all the time, but reality is way different for common young bald men.

Personally I think the most important factors re. making the most of hair loss are:

1) Congruent style

2) Athleticism

2) Owning the look

Guys who are balding / bald can easily own the look by growing some well-shaped facial hair and dressing well. A well-honed physique adds to this as it becomes an additional asset to the overall look.

Open necked-shirts and V-necks work well as the amount of skin on show takes away from the otherwise abrupt, potentially harsh look of a bald head.

The way I see it ... a heavily balding man has to shave his head to own the look. Anything else looks like you're the victim of the circumstance.

Hair transplants are all good as long as they look natural (which it seems they now do). Some people obviously look better with hair, just as some people look better without it.

I'd argue you have to have a particular look - be it pretty surfer-boy, tight-jeaned, bearded hipster or dominant edgy bad boy. The look by itself will attract different type of girls - your character and behaviour is what will make you universally appealing.

My two pennies.

As a guy who's been dealing with hair loss for 7 years now, I can tell you, there is nothing that will regrow lost hair, nothing.

If you want to have hair again where there is none, you should just consider a FUE hair transplant.

Have you tried RU58841?

I have a full head of hair...but a few issues.

I have a high hairline and my hair is very straight and fine. I just started using pomade and a left part. It looks better...but still kind of thin....I want to go for that thick "full" look like that David Beckham shot or some such. I still need to grow it longer on top a la don draper as it's still kind of short and I think that may help

Any tips to make thin fine hair look thicker ( a certain kind of cream, pomade, length ) ?

I have the same kind of issue. I'm not bald but I feel like my hair has thinned and I see that my hair line has receded some. What I've found works well is after you've let your hair dried fully after showering, put in a thick putty type of product. By applying it while your hair is dry it stays up and becomes very tough but pliable, and appears thicker.

I like the Axe Messy Look paste for this.

I have curly hair so never grew it out long because it starts getting tangled. Slathering enough conditioner through it after a shampoo seems to make it manageable so far. I'm going to keep growing it out and see what happens...

I shaved my head a couple of days ago. I was wondering how was it going to affect my success with girls.

I banged a 20yo that same night.

Hair is hair. Game trumps it all.

After a while I started dousing it lightly with Almond oil for shine and strength. Eventually I threw out my shitty Axe pomade and invested in some Redken Rewind #6. If you have near shoulder-length hair this stuff is amazing. You can keep reworking it throughout the day and girls can run their fingers through it without getting grossed out by the texture.

I've got long-ish hair now - almond oil or argan oil works well, in moderation. But why would you use that Redken stuff? Isn't it a paste?

I'm an older guy long since off the campus, so the effect may vary with age. I never had a woman ask if she could touch it but it gets various reactions - mostly positive.

Yes, Game trumps all.

I have very nice hair which I can make curly, wavy, or straight depending on how much I comb it. It's a beautiful dark blonde/amber color. When it's longer and taken well care of it helps me a little. But it's never been some magic bullet for me.

I think having a sexy look is great (whether bald or with hair) but confidence is what women breed for, not cute hair. Cute hair never defended the cave. Cute hair never hauled back a carcass to the cook fire.

Women need nice hair to prove they are healthy enough to carry a child (evolutionarily). Carry a child means both in her body, and also hair could be held by the child if it was clinging to her back and standing on her ass (true, look in Africa today).

I see no similar need in men other than warmth, but I also see that hair could get in the way if you are hunting. It also can be grabbed by an Alpha male you are fighting. It seems more neutral for men from a biological point of view.

Hair can get girls to open you. But lots of other things can too, whether its a sweet jacket or a nice watch.

But ultimately hair doesn't approach girls. It would be nice if it did.

"Hair, go boy! talk to that girl!"
