The Incoming Food Shortages

No food shortages yet, just a lot of inflation. Really makes you appreciate the value of money.
Yes indeed. I don't think the dollar is going anywhere for a while as the reserve currency.... but one should make a point to become antifragile to when that does happen (which eventually it will OR acting like it will but it doesn't happen will still make you very well off)

The Sky is Falling (but not really) The food shortages are several years away if the trend continues. People aware (like those on this forum) will be fine with just getting several laying hens, a couple goats, and learning how to barter with people vs this mentality of imminent total collapse which folks think is the answer.

I'd say we all have 3-5 years from the worst-case scenario actually reaching the US. Plan accordingly.

I'm not bragging but using myself as a template... and many are smarter than me and more liquid that I was but:

I saw signs of distress in 2020 covid living in Houston. I saved up and got myself and the family out of the suburbs and into the country over the next year. Now I've got the basic means to become very wealthy if my corporate job doesn't go away, but if it does, a medium of barter exchange (chickens/eggs/construction expertise/physical security/etc.) such that my neighbors all know I'm the guy that can help them with XYZ problem, but enough physical security on my property that they know robbing me is assured death sentence.

A deep freezer full of a half cow will last a family about a year depending on size. Do that. Knowing how to fish and living near water will guarantee food abundance (Jesus had something to say on this we all know) and living near water and buying a $100 water filter pump can guarantee life goes on at subsistence level.

Now if youre nuts like me. Keep 90 days worth of dried food/mre's and have a wife who knows how to can food... and make big batches of food and can them perpetually..... ect ect ect ....

Material preparedness is about 1/3 of it... 2/3s is mindset. Those whove been overseas and seen actual total poverty get it.... but the point is... one needs to be mentally prepared for whatever happens....

AND the GOOD NEWS is that it isn't likely to happen here to us for sometime.

The other aspect of this for a lot of guys like us: We have the credentials and enough neighbors who know about it that they'll be looking to us to provide physical security for the neighborhood.

It's not necessarily a fair burden but for anyone that has combat experience that anyone in your neighborhood knows about, you should expect that people will approach you and ask you to tell them what to do.

Yes, I believe we will experience food rationing and shortages. I tried dehydrated stews, soup and meats. They shot my blood pressure up. Checking the label they had a lot of sodium. So I stock up on canned foods that don't have extra sodium in them. I am concerned that our government will find a way to stop fertilizer production for 'climate protection'.

Indeed.... That's why I am anticipating having my own little feifdom and being a warlord Liberia style like General Butt Naked....Jokes aside...

You're absolutely correct though.... physical security more over communal leadership in a chaotic environment is something many people overlook and are not really aware of TTP's for implemenation.

I found out another gentleman a Marine Infantryman in the reserves and we have some mutual acquaintances from fleet time
our kids are in the same class... really awesome. In our little 3 way intersection in the piney woods.... He lives on one corner enterance and I live on the other and the 3rd is a creek that is a natural barrier and easily managed as a checkpoint.
