Young evangelicals are turning on Israel, as support for the country continues to decline.
Two incredible polls were released recently. Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) commissioned the Barna Group to survey evangelical Christians about their views on Israel/Palestine. This undertaking might seem academic to some, as evangelicals have long been associated with enthusiastic and consistent support Israel. There’s been a vast amount of literature and commentary on Christian Zionism, and you can find a whole lot of it in the Mondoweiss archives. While we’ve seen notable opinion shifts on Israel among Democratic voters or young Jews, there can’t possibly be any cracks developing among evangelicals, right?
There is actually. In fact, the poll suggests support is about to drop considerably in the coming years. Only 33.6% of young evangelicals (between the ages of 18 and 29) said they support Israel. 24.3% said they support Palestine. 42.2% said they support neither side in the conflict. Compare this survey to a similar one that was carried out by UNCP professors just a few years ago, in 2018. A staggering 69% of young evangelicals said they supported Israel back then and just 5.6% said they supported the Palestinians. 25.7% didn’t take a side.
“It’s become evident that Israel is developing a public relations problem with younger Americans,” one of the professors told the Times of Israel. “We see it with evangelicals as with American Jews and other groups.”
Now check out this Harvard-Harris poll of registered voters that was taken last month.”Who is more responsible for the violence in the Mideast – Israel or Hamas?,” people were asked. Here are the results:
All: Hamas: 60% Israel: 40%
18-34: Israel: 60% Hamas: 40%
35-49: Israel: 51% Hamas: 49%
50-64: Hamas: 72% Israel: 28%
65+: Hamas: 76% Israel: 24%
Okay, so 2 out of 5 people say Israel is responsible. Not too shabby, but hold on a second. As Kyle Kulinski pointed out on his show, these numbers would no doubt be higher if respondents had simply been asked whether Palestine or Israel was responsible for the violence. Why was there a political distinction made for Hamas, but not one for Israel? Think about the question flipped around: “Who is more responsible for the violence in the Mideast – Palestine or Likud?” What kind of answers would you have gotten then?
The fact that support for Israel still seems to be falling despite such a leading question is a pretty amazing development.
Torba made the comments on a TruNews interview on Tuesday
Andrew Torba revealed that Jared Kushner would not allow President Trump onto Gab unless the free speech platform banned criticism of Jewish people and Israel.
Torba, the CEO of Gab, spoke to Lauren Witzke of TruNews on Tuesday, and discussed his attempts to bring President Trump onto his free speech social network after he was “totally nuked from the entire mainstream internet” in January this year. “All I wanted to do was to give him his voice back, because there’s a hundred million people or more that want to hear what he has to say,” Torba told Witzke, but as previously reported, said that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and his “cronies” were the ones that blocked access to Gab.
Torba said Kushner and his cronies tried to get Torba to “sell out” and “compromise on Gab’s free speech policies,” suggesting that Gab “clean up [their] image,” before President Trump was allowed on. Witzke queried Torba into exactly what people Kushner wanted banned, and Torba revealed that he “specifically had problems with people criticizing Jewish people and Zionism and policies related to Israel”:
“That’s specifically what I was told, in that you have to do something about these people. He called them Jew-haters, I call them Jew-criticizers,” said Torba. “Some of these people believe that anyone who criticizes or even has remotely any sort of criticism towards Jewish people or towards Israel or towards international policy, is all of a sudden an anti-Semite right, which is totally absurd on its face.”
He added that all people were welcome on Gab, be they Zionists or people who are against Zionism. “We’re a content-neutral platform. It’s a free speech platform,” Torba said. “So as long as you’re not saying anything illegal, as long as you’re not making threats of violence, you’re allowed to speak your mind and have an opinion about things.” This is something that he was clearly not going to compromise on, as that selling point is “what made Gab as successful as it is, and that’s what’s going to continue to make Gab successful in the future.”
Kushner and those around him didn’t care about free speech, Torba said, but only how they could monetize the platform. “All I wanted to do was to give him his voice back and all that the people around Trump were interested in was grifting,” he continued, claiming that they told him that they were in “make money mode.”
President Trump’s blog, “From The Desk of Donald Trump,” was permanently shut down last week, with spokesman Jason Miller confirming that “it was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on,” and not key to the President’s messaging or public outreach. The statements put out by the blog, received as many engagements on all of the Big Tech platforms combined as they did on Gab, which mirrored them.
Well this was in fact a serious thing. Out of this came the supposed Zevi incarnation Jacob Frank, in 16th century Poland. This was Frankish-Sabbateism and it is still a very important influence among the Jewish elite. What it was is essentially a complete inversion of everything. So Jewish holidays where they fasted were to be days where people indulged in feasts, morality had to become orgies etc etc. So that sounds pretty familiar to what we see now aye.
Jewish history lecture here that is fairly interesting (big grain of Kosher salt to be taken here also... but some honesty being given)
Early intro here talks about the Poles using Jews and tax collectors against the Ukrainians... very interesting.
Yes. This Jewish professor presents a lot of good info from a historical view on Jewish history .Well this was in fact a serious thing. St. John Damascus, when encountering Islam, called it <<πρόδρομος τοῦ ἀντιχρίστου>> because you can see the worldly elements in it and its founder, as you refer to here. Since they respect kingdoms and pure power, it will be interesting to see the muslim response to the man of abomination, after he "saves" people from the world war that is generally suggested as his moment of arrival (economic system too).Interesting quote from Fr. Spyridon's ''The kingdom of Satan and Orthodoxy''
''The zionists are already preparing their messiah. For them the false messiah will be king, will rule here on earth. The zionists want to rule the earth. To achieve their ends they use black magic and Satanism''
Of course we know the diabolical nature of a group of Jews. This quote however makes me realize that the Antichrist literally will be for them what Christ will be for us. The Antichrist will be their military/political all-encompassing king of the global system. This underlines once again the dichotomy of what we're dealing with here: good vs evil, God vs Satan, Christ vs Antichrist, (a group of) Jews vs Christians (and other believers who value traditional society and a sense of morality)
Ah good old Lev Bronstein, founder of the political use of racism, what a lovely bloke. Can remember that Roosh dropped that fact on one of his interviews earlier. I thought that the rule of thumb was if it sounds German or Russian and it has power it is a Jew. While that still is the case I see now that they hide also behind cryptonames. The Jews are intelligent and cunning aren't they.Yes. This Jewish professor presents a lot of good info from a historical view on Jewish history .
I would absolutely take his lectures with a grain of salt, and make note of the intentional victimhood mentality he does at times give in to.... but its pretty interesting to hear Jews discuss these things from a Jewish (all be it no approving) perspective.
His lectures on Trotsky are also worth a listen.
Its funny to see Jews openly admit the Jewish nature of Boleshivk mentality and yet give a half intentioned apology for it.
That's interesting, they do respect worldly authority. However, if I see the position of many Christians it's not far from that, maybe not kingdoms but government authority surely. ''Romans 13, Romans 13'', while forgetting Daniel standing up to Nebezzakur and John/Peter refusing to comply to the authorities in Acts to stop teaching in Jesus' name. Moreover, we don't really have to talk about the Jews and their worldly position. So I think the complying to authority is more a general human/cultural/religious thing.St. John Damascus, when encountering Islam, called it <<πρόδρομος τοῦ ἀντιχρίστου>> because you can see the worldly elements in it and its founder, as you refer to here.
