The Jordan Peterson thread

The industry is 78% female, yet a much higher percentage of women hardly ever read anything (except mommy porn, when the media tell them to).

If I was single nowadays I think that would be my main pickup line :
"Hey - do you read ?" :)

I wish that what you were saying were true, because it's at least amusing. If you look at the best seller lists (fiction and non-fiction), it's less fun. What sells are mostly:

1). Simplistic self-help books. This is a cottage industry that promises everything and delivers nothing -- except for maybe idiotic new words like "impactful."

2). Celebrity biographies. Ever read these? If you read enough of them, you get to think every woman who ever walked the earth had an eating disorder and was sexually abused.

3). Mindless women's fiction, which actually functions as Mommy Porn Lite, since a lot of it has to do with kidnapping by Bad Boys or clandestine extra-marital affairs.

What's missing from today's book world are the bold, challenging tomes by the likes of writers like the late Tom Wolfe ("Bonfire Of The Vanities") whose cutting social observations would never even get him an agent today, much less a publisher.

Since a lot of book reviewers these days are either women or Blue Checkmark males, the public isn't even made aware of this situation.

I have some kind of Jordan Peterson virus on my youtube.

I have unsubscribed to the guy, but after every other video I watch, it switches me over to JBP.

To me this is the cherry on top of all the controlled opposition evidence. But in real life it's annoying. Why not flip on another video of the guy I'm listening to.

Switch off auto-play. Then for every Peterson video it suggests select 'not interested' from its menu button. These suggested videos will be next to a video you watch or on the homepage of YouTube. If you do a handful in this way it will stop spamming them.

He's part of the "deradicalization pipeline", I believe. If I watch anything kinda edgy the next autoplay is always Jordan Peterson, Noam Chomsky, Chris Hedges, or Slavoj Zizek.

The controversial Canadian psychology professor, who has spent much of his career railing against political correctness, spoke to the Sunday Times, along with his podcast host daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, about his downward spiral.

“I don’t remember anything. From Dec. 16 of 2019 to Feb. 5, 2020,” the self-help author said of period he was sent Russia for treatment. “I don’t remember anything at all,” Peterson told the British newspaper.

VoxDay's takes on Jordan Peterson are correct, but seem motivated by hate more than anything else.

I feel sorry for the guy: we should pray for him. He's clearly haunted by demons, even if he's not demon possessed.

Unfortunately, JP has also misled many young men with his sophistry and pseudo-intellectual garble. We must pray for them too.

I've heard Owen Benjamin introduced the "Peterson" as a measure of mass, similar to his mockery of Joe Rogan's height. The latter is well documented (here and here) and you can calculate your height in Rogans here.

Here's the definition of the Peterson
The peterson(or petreson) is a unit of mass originally defined as "the weight of copper you need to steal and then to sell in order to procure a gram of meth". Named after prof. Jordan Peterson. Peterson value may vary depending on your local copper and meth prices.
Bums dug up copper wire worth 100 petersons.

The journalist has an interesting story herself:
Guardian journalist Decca Aitkenhead fell in love with a crack-smoking, drug-dealing ex-con. He quit the criminal underworld for her, got a degree and they had two sons. But devastatingly, while on holiday in Jamaica, Tony drowned. Today, Decca tells us about this unlikely union…

Decca Aitkenhead was a successful journalist, in an unhappy marriage. Her neighbour, Tony, was a lifelong criminal, who’d spent 14 years behind bars and on his release, started dealing cocaine and smoking crack. Her marriage collapsed and she found herself drawn to Tony but didn’t think there was a future. However, he turned his life around for her and they had two sons together. In the first of two interviews, we hear about the magnetism, “huge-hearted and deeply loving, loyal, dependable character” that made her fall in love with Tony…

^ I remain skeptical of Peterson, as do most on here, but it does seem that all the people who we on this forum would generally oppose as culturally ruinous still consider him a bitter enemy and are still are trying to destroy him - including with tried and true fake news tactics.

The problem with this analysis is accepting anything the people you mention do at face value.

The establishment is aware by now that the people they would like to become Peterson followers (white men who are on the verge of completely rejecting the oligarchs system) will almost reflexively embrace people they trash in the press.

Their real position is betrayed by the Intellectual Dark Web piece in the NYT... "These are rebels/outsiders... Stay away, danger... But here's a puff piece not so subtly promoting them.."

I don't hate Peterson but here's what I see:

A psychologist (junk science by and large)

Atheist or at best agnostic who views the Bible as a bunch of metaphors

Self-help guru who is eating handfuls of pills as he rises to the top of the self help industry

Daughter is a whore

I don't see anything particularly admirable and find the fact that he was promoting a book on his rules for life (as if he is an expert) while high and physically dependent on narcotics quite dishonest.

Right now he's not our greatest enemy. We can all rip him on here but what's the point. 2 years ago RVF was split on JBP, at this point most view him as a grifter, sellout, and now a very troubled guy.

I am not skeptical, the case on JBP is closed.

Whether or not he is a loser, weak libertarian who cries, or some sort of occult guy who was raised up as opposed opposition...who knows.

My main point was that I expect reverse psychology to become an increasingly common tactic from the press. The rest was a tangent I hadn't even thought about Peterson for months before checking this thread.

Can you explain how you see these things? (I understand the part about him being an atheist... but, I'm not 100% convinced that he's an atheist. After listening to a few of his pocasts lately he seems to be well on his way to not being atheist.)
