True, but these are state representatives we're talking about. In Tennessee they make 24k/year. So these people are selling their souls for basically a nice stipend and a chance at higher office. It's pathetic and embarrassing. And let's not pretend most of these people don't actively look for those opportunities to get ahead, even if it will compromise themselves. Look at how many people voluntarily went to Epstein island, how many women voluntarily slept with Harvey Weinstein... they're looking to prostitute themselves out.

They don't actually like each other or even seem to believe in the party that much. Their psychology is driven almost entirely by the combination of hatred for normal people and getting off on the feeling of having power; the latter seeks to sate itself by actions of repression against the people they hate.

This was absolutely fantastic.
That this even is a question being discussed tells you all about the state of Western Christianity. I read it leads to increasing Protestant denominational splits like the United Methodist Church recently, but also in the Catholic church kind of to my surprise the pro LGBT attitude allegedly is kinda high, at least with regard to California.
If you don't stand for anything you'll fall for anything which is where 90% of Western Christianity is going. Lesson? Never compromise anything about the ancient ways, once you start to move the goalpost you're on the path of total annihilation and destruction which we see play out in real time and have seen so since decades. The Lutherans now even have a tranny as bishop! Can you make this up? It's quite a remarkable state of affairs, which can only be understood how it got so far if one understands Christian history, the Schism of the Papal protestants and later that of the reformed protestants (and then the reformed reformed protestants, and the reformed reformed reformed protestants, and the reformed reformed reformed reformed protestants etc etc): it was just meant to get totally outta control later down the line and we see the fruits of it now sadly.
