What's the deal with Zane Lowe and the rescore? The soundtrack was already excellent from memory.

If anyone ever wanted to know the definition of brooding your best bet would be to watch Ryan Gosling in Drive. Completely owned that role. A very cool film.

Yikes....this isn't the version I was talking about. The screener version has some tracks from previous movies (I won't spoil for now) and IMO were better than the final version. Especially the elevator scene and preparing for the heist.

That movie is great, already seven years old.

Drive is probably one of the best movies of the decade. I love that it makes LA a character. Soundtrack is also incredible. My only minor gripe is that Gosling was able to find parking at the staples arena within a second of pulling into the parking lot during a basketball game. Possibly one of the most unrealistic LA scenes of all time.

I just used that cause I liked the art.... I didn't see that it was a rescore. Drive is the least deserving movie of a rescore of all time

Never saw it. Eastwood fell off since Gran Torino. Hoover definitely had a very close relationship with that guy, though.

If anyone ever wanted to know the definition of brooding your best bet would be to watch Ryan Gosling in Drive. Completely owned that role. A very cool film.

He wasn't just brooding in the movie. He ran the full gamut of emotions in the most subtle ways. Reminded me of DeNiro in Travis Bickle a little bit. Character was a powder keg with a heart of gold ready to go off. And it did in that crazy elevator scene.

Highly recommend reading the books, too. Great neo-noir.

Drive is a great film. It taught me that you don’t need to be able to talk much to pick up women.

Re-watched Heat for the 4th or 5th time. Still one of, if not the best, cops and robbers movies to come out of Hollywood. So many memorable scenes, and very well developed main characters.

Robert De Niro movies are a mixed bag in my opinion. Several are amazing such as Heat, The Godfather II, Midnight Run, Goodfellas, Men of Honor, Cape Fear, The Score, and Casino. A few other movies are overrated and boring and or weird such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, Once Upon a Time in America, Brazil, Mean Streets, and Meet the Fockers. This is just my humble opinion. Everybody has their own preferences.

I gave Heat 9/10. I really liked De Niro's character. However, Al Pacino went a little over the top with his temper and lack of control in much of the movie and I found him a bit annoying at times (which is common in many of his movies).

True, the director is more important than the actor when it comes to a movie in many cases. Of course, some actors are better about choosing roles than others. Pacino was decent in the movie at parts and it could be possible for a detective to be jaded and aggressive after working in LA for so long. I enjoyed the contrast of personalities and it was enjoyable to see a battle between 2 top rated professionals. I also liked Val Kilmer's role and Ashley Judd was enjoyable in her small part. The director definitely did a great job in his talent choices.

I have not seen many Mann movies. 'Collateral' was very enjoyable and Cruise and Foxx worked well together and the dialogue was excellent. 'Manhunter' was solid. 'The Insider' was extremely boring in my opinion; however, I know many people liked it.

Heat is a good movie, but I rewatched it recently, and, after all, the character played by De Niro is not reasonably likable, because of his readiness to shoot down the last armored car guys. He's an assassin.

I like Noir movies with honor-bound characters, like absolute Noir-thriller idol Parker. Tough but not an assassin. Has rules, kills only when under direct attack. Revengeful but kind to the little people.

Also, in Heat, there's a bad scene. When the crazy murderous dude escapes De Niro who was about to stuff him in the trunk. De Niro has him on the ground, but because of a passing police car, keeps his eyes off him for five seconds. Well, no way IRL. Obviously the crazy murderer on the ground could/should have been armed and De Niro would never let him 5 seconds free to regroup and draw his gun, police car or not. Parker would have prioritised the man on the ground and let his friends worry about the cruising car.

So, well, watch if you can the Statham's or Gibson's Parkers movies.
