Very informing thread on US policy and political philosophy towards China:
They are not in a quandary. They have no problem at all being two faced about the situation. The best part of this is that the MSM is now attacking China for being too repressive on covid, which puts them in a quandary about their own unyielding support for covid repression in the West...
1960-61 looks pretty shocking! 10 million down in 1960! I'm guessing this was from famine due to totalitarian economic methods.![]()

China's first population drop in six decades sounds alarm on demographic crisis
China's population fell last year for the first time in six decades, a historic turn that is expected to mark the start of a long period of decline in its citizen numbers with profound implications for its economy and the world.www.reuters.com
Yep, the Great Leap Forward of 1959-61, where it's estimated that 45 million died as the result.1960-61 looks pretty shocking! 10 million down in 1960! I'm guessing this was from famine due to totalitarian economic methods.
I'm surprised the Chinese government was even honest enough to report 10 million deaths in 1960. Throughout this Covid nonsense, they've been reporting single digit deaths per day. As far as I can see, Covid has caused slightly higher death rates than the usual flu, possibly twice as much as the next worse year since 2000. That doesn't justify the lockdowns and other cruelties, but it's more than single digits per day out of 1.4 billion people.Yep, the Great Leap Forward of 1959-61, where it's estimated that 45 million died as the result.
Births in China fell by another million in 2022, according to the official numbers. That makes 2022 simply a continuation of the trend, as Chinese births have decreased by an average of over a million per year for the last six years. Just comparing the number of births from 2016 and 2022 shows a rapid transformation: 17.86 million in 2016 vs. 9.56 million in 2022. That is a loss of nearly half in a short time. I have noticed that in a lot of countries' demographic declines, they had low fertility rates for many years but only began really significantly collapsing in the late 2010s. Now, China's fertility rate has been recorded at 1.07, which is absolutely appalling. That is still better than South Korea, though.![]()

If you never thought you cared about semiconductors, consider this: Our economy — really, our functioning as a society — is heavily dependent on this product that is mostly made on a tiny island under threat from neighboring mainland China. |
Chips are everywhere. Without them, many of us can’t work. We can’t operate our smartphones. We can’t drive our cars. We can’t guide our missiles. President Xi Jinping of China has made clear he believes that Taiwan, where some of the most cutting-edge chips are made, is part of China’s territory, and tensions over that claim are high. |
Western elites are so delusional they think it's a better idea to risk war with China than to build their own microchips in their own countries.
