Here's Mary Jane (Spiderman's girlfriend) in the comics:

I don't really like comic books or their derived media.
They tend to stay sort of pubescent in tone, no matter how much "grit" is thrown in.

But this is just insolence. They are shitting on their nerdy, white, male demographic, for no particular reason.
The virtue signaling crowd will say, "Great!" and then spend their money on things they are actually interested in.
Unless they are fishing for government subsidies, this is irrational behaviour.

@Sp5:
Maybe 5% of white men are attracted to black women of any shade.
Not something anyone likes to point out, but it is the truth.

I agree.

It's probably a good thing that this is done however. It will shake these manchildren out of their lull when they realize that their child hood heros and dreams are a complete joke.

However this is a potential niche for red pill comic book heros to enter the scene.

I guess I'm in the minority here but to me a characters girlfriend is the right way to introduce diversity rather than changing the sex and race of the character itself.

I seriously can't imagine the target demographic, young teenage boys and girls, having that much of a reaction to Spidermans girlfriend. Bad writing is what will kill the comic, not this.

I wonder if people would be as upset if she were asian?

Why? Because you say so? I've been in the whitest of rural Ireland and talked to guys who were drooling over stories of black girls.

Even this forum negates that, if you read the Game and Travel sections and factor out the politics-only contributors.

RVFers tend to have adventurous, flag-hunting tendencies. Nothing wrong with that. It's just not indicative of average tastes.

Studies show that men judge women across races in a highly correlated way.

http://psycnet.apa.org/?&fa=main.doiLanding&doi=10.1037/0022-3514.68.2.261

Black and White American men rated the attractiveness of Black female facial photos and body types. Mean facial attractiveness ratings were highly correlated (r = .94), but as predicted Blacks and Whites varied in judging bodies.

As Sir Richard Francis Burton said, "I have observed that if a race judges a woman as beautiful, she will be nearly universally regarded as beautiful by other races."

In my experience in the U.S. military, even the most virulent white racists (nigger this, coon that) saw hot black girls as hot.

The existence of the coloured population of South Africa, the large number of Brazilian and Colombian mulatos, creoles and "redbones" in the USA, and the Jefferson-Hemings family are living refutations of your thesis.

Everybody has their tastes and preferences along a scale, but I think the inverse of your thesis is true, only about 5% of white men have been culturally conditioned to overcome their masculine instincts to be attracted to someone like this

As I said, a hot nerdy black girl would be a lot of white teenaged nerds fantasy girlfriend.

Not sure what you mean about "overcome masculine instincts". Here's another pic, hell she's not even fully black, I really think this is a nonissue. Maybe their goal was to get people to talk about the movie. . . if so its working. Guarantee far more than 5% of whites WB. Maybe 5% WNB. . .

Diversity always means black though?

Where's the Indian guy getting the beautiful black girl, where is the East Asian guy with the jewish girlfriend.

Marvel boss says move towards more diverse characters is 'killing sales'

A boss at Marvel has blamed a fall in sales on its move towards more diverse characters.

David Gabriel, who's vice president of sales, claims readers are "turning their noses up" at diversity and don't "want female characters out there".

Comic book sales have been falling at the company since October.

But some fans argue it's actually rebooted and complicated storylines putting them off instead.

In the last few years. Marvel's brought in more gay, non-white and female characters.

But many are new versions of old characters and some fans aren't happy about that.

They include a female Thor, a mixed-race Spider-Man, a black teenager who took over the Iron Man story and a Muslim Ms Marvel.

Iceman also came out as gay.

In 2015, figures suggested the female version of Thor was outselling the original male title.

But at the latest Marvel retailer summit, Gabriel said sellers had told him fans were sticking to old favourites.

"What we heard was that people didn't want any more diversity," he said. "That's what we heard, whether we believe that or not.

"I don't know that that's really true, but that's what we saw in sales.

"Any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up."

Gabriel later released a clarifying statement, saying some retailers felt some core Marvel heroes were being abandoned.

He also argued there was a fan base for adapted characters like Ms Marvel and Miles Morales.

"We have also been hearing from stores that welcome and champion our new characters and titles and want more," he said.

"Let me be clear, our new heroes are not going anywhere.

"We are proud and excited to keep introducing unique characters that reflect new voices and new experiences into the Marvel universe."

Marvel cancels Black Lives Matter-themed comic book written by Ta-Nehisi Coates due to poor sales

Marvel has cancelled its Black Lives Matter-themed comic book due to poor sales.

Black Panther & The Crew, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and poet Yona Harvey, is just two issues into its run.

In an interview with The Verge, Coates said that the comic book had been cut because it wasn't selling well but that he would get the chance to wrap up the current story. The sixth issue will be the final installment.

Coates also writes for the main Black Panther comic, which will continue to publish.

Black Panther's character was debuted in Captain America: Civil War, and first had a spin-off with The Crew in 2003.

But that comic book was also cancelled after just seven issues.

This iteration of the comic book saw Black Panther and other black superheroes in the Marvel universe such as Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Storm and the former Avenger Manifold, trying to solve the death of a black woman named Ezra Keith who dies in police custody.

Keith's death is reminiscent of the real life death of Sandra Bland.

The comic book takes place in near-future New York, where Harlem is placed under martial law.

Robot cops controlled by a private security contractor police the neighborhood.

While solving the mystery they all learn about Civil Rights figures.

At the end of March, David Gabriel, Marvel's senior vice president of sales and marketing, told icv2.com that the publisher's core fan base didn't seem interested in the new comics aimed at diversity.

'What we heard was that people didn't want any more diversity…that's what we saw in sales,' Gabriel said. 'We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against.'

Again, where is the money coming from?

DC tried a movie about Catwoman with Halle berry and not only did the movie flop bigly, it ended her movie career.

I suspect Disney is getting subsidized by the government to double down on this diversity narrative. Even marvel executives have voiced their concern about how unprofitable this is before they were silenced. I just cannot believe Disney is willing to lose their marketshare of Marvel to DC after a decade of successful movies.

To be fair DC is doing the same but in small tolerable doses. In the new justice league, Berry Allen/Flash is hapa, aqua man is Jason Momoa (hapa), wonder woman is a Jew. Batman is the only white male

The main Green Laterns now are a woman with anxiety and an Arab American. There's a Chinese Superman. The new Robin is black.

Too much politics in everything nowadays, especially sports. I want to ignore those aspects, but a country's government should mean more than fictional super heros and professional athletes.

Wait, wait, wait. *Googles* You weren't taking the piss.

I'm way out of the loop.

I get the Asian-American Hulk Marvel did because they've explored a lot over the years about who Bruce Banner is and who the Hulk is and there's been multiple mutations of the Hulk as well as separations and Amadeus Cho had history with the Hulk. So it was consistent with the narrative established over the years.

This just seems copying and pandering. As bad as suddenly making Iceman gay.

Marvel have had to cancel something like 30 titles as the SJW pandering got out of hand. DC had avoided most of the nonsense but it looks like they're heading more towards that direction.
