The NFL is dying

The "superbowl" is on its way and I'm dreading it. For the past several years I have refused to watch it. I don't care how it makes me look to other people. Perhaps, it's strange for some, but, I don't care. I was a lettered football player once upon a time and I'm a former Marine (when the Marines were Marines). If that confuses some bystander, so be it. Maybe that will make them think and that's all we can do right now is plant seeds.

The commercials are the worse. They're downright pornographic and always include some thinly veiled homoeroticism, which just makes the whole thing all the more repulsive. Plus, we can expect overtures to the "strong woman", after all, they hate football because its masculine, therefore, there must be a counterbalance. Since women can't compete because they're too weak, they use fantasy to fill that gap, which is done via commercials.

Sportsball is pathetic.

Could not agree more brother. This is beyond any semblance of normalcy. I feel like watching those commercials willingly and eagerly is like watching your father get slapped while people laugh at him, and you are standing with the people laughing.

The Washington Redskins have just announced they're changing their name to Washington Commanders. A more appropriate name would be the
Washington Boondogglers or the Washington Porkiers in honor (or dishonor) of all the grifting politicians who are giving away trillions of dollars to
special interests.
A few years ago, when the whole Redskins drama started up, I suggested they be named the "politicians" then their mascot would be some very cheesy looking guy in a suit with a fake giant smile on his face, looking something like Mitt Romney or John Kerry.

Anyway, my favorite take on this comes from Jim Goad, who is 60 and I am paraphrasing what he said on TDS a few years ago...

"When I was growing up in the USA there were three races. There were whites, there were blacks and there were native Americans. If you watch TV from that time, almost everyone on TV was white, but there was often a place for a native American or even in westerns a lot of native Americans. They were always at the front of our minds, and we had a lot of respect for their willingness to fight and then eventually become part of our American culture. So our sports teams were named after them, to honor their bravery and courage. Now they are removing all of that, and it seems they are removing this not to be kind to them, but to erase them from history. Today you barely see native Americans on TV or any where in the media, unless it is about removing these mascots. Once these mascots are gone, many memories or reminders of native Americans will be gone with them."

Another thought on the NFL, it is a great reflection of our modern society. The halftime show will be Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and some woman (don't even care to look it up).

Imagine explaining to people who are not up and up on American culture, especially those from overseas, that the biggest TV event in the USA will have a halftime show that will include three rappers who rap about killing police, killing rival drug dealers, that women are all prostitutes, and then Eminem going into great detail about how specifically he would like to kill his daughter's mother.

Perfect.

My disillusionment with sportsball began with the Ray Rice incident. He was a super running back for the Baltimore Ravens, maybe even when they won a super bowl. He had an incident with his woman going into an elevator at a hotel. Well, she pushed or hit him 2 or 3 times, then made another move at him, and ol' Ray Rice knocked her to the ground in one swipe. He drug her out of the elevator. It was all on tape.

Of course, the world went nuts on Ray Rice, as did the stinking NFL. Never mind that the woman had completely initiated contact, and maintained contact, with Rice. For heaven's sake, he's an NFL running back. Basically, his job title is "battering ram." Pick a fight with that, woman?

Every woman I knew jumped on the "the NFL has to do something about men abusing women" band wagon. I showed two women the whole video several times, to no avail. That was when "fantasy football" was taking off, which was drawing in the middle age female demographic as fans. Of course, the woman makes 70% of household financial decisions, so that's a lucrative (and was the last untapped) demographic for "the League."

People look at me like I'm a weirdo when I admit "I don't have a team, don't care about sportsball anymore." That's fine.

I've lived near many Indian reservations. Many native Americans were big "redskins" fans, wearing jerseys and hats, etc. Not so much with the younger generation, nowadays, who have been afforded endless college money for "native studies," etc. But the "redskins" always had a fan base on the Rez, at least in the old days. Either that, or the Cowboys for some funny reason (native humor is great, and a bit quirky).

That Jim Goad quote is excellent.

The Washington Football Team becoming the "Commanders" is an interesting choice. I think it is quite symbolic to how WDC looks at the rest of the country. They are the Imperial City, commanding the rest of us proles from their well-financed Command Post.
I bet many Afghans will laugh hysterically when they learn about this name change, since they ran the "Washington Commanders" out of their
country last year, even though they were poorly armed compared to the U.S. Army.

I consider it a badge of honor and achievement that I:

1. have absolutely no idea where the next Superbowl will actually be located at

2. have absolutely no idea who is playing it

3. don't even own a television in my entire house.

Granted, if you're in the Southern Dixie it's quite unusual to not have a "favorite team" or watch sportsball. I've already derided it for years. Back in like 2013-2014 guys even got really angry at me. Said I wasn't acting "Patriotic" for refusing to support or watch it. I told them that in a few years they'd be seeing differently. Whether they are now or not I don't really care. But even years ago it was quite easy for an awakened man to see where it was all heading. Sodom and Gomorrah.

To emphasize your point, 10-15 years ago I drove by a high school in the Navajo Nation that used the Redskins logo the way many high schools use NFL logos for their sports teams. They didn't seem too offended by it - but according to Sharyl Attkisson's TED talk on astrotrufing, a poll showed that more than 2/3 of American Indians had no objection to the name even as we were being bombarded with the idea that it was universally offensive.

If we've learned nothing else in the past couple years it's that we should learn how to trust what we observe over what we're told and we should keep in mind who is doing the telling.

Why dread it? Just use the time to go to a park or go shopping. Places (except for sports bars) will be less crowded during the game.

This article is a couple years old, but likely still true. I don't think I am a prude, but I think these events should be family friendly. It used to be safe to watch the ball drop on New Years Eve or watch a Super Bowl as a family and now there is propaganda and disrespect for people that are religious.

I find it funny that the way to show respect towards American aborigines is to cancel them. This goes for Land 'O Lakes butter, the Cleveland Indians (named after a real American Indian), the Washington Redskins, and likely soon the Chiefs and the Braves.

Not a Washington fan (mostly because of jerkoff Snyder) but Commandos would be a much better mascot name than Commanders IMO.

Why is Snyder a jerk? He stood his ground on not changing the name of the organization until they practically put a gun to his head.

I also heard the behavior around the locker room resembled a Porky's movie which apparently ticked off feminists and Leftist beta boys. Snyder sounds like my type of guy.

I was conditioned as a child to worship football. I can tell you where and with whom I watched each and every Super Bowl since I was 9. We would get excited about all of it including the commercials and the half time show. It's always been a tool of social engineering in our society. During the so called 'war on terror' it was hyper focused on military. Now it's hyper focused on race. And if you look at its history the NFL traditionally has ties with crime families. It is now a reflection of the society our rulers desire. Much like the bread and circuses of the Roman Empire. SoFi Stadium in Inglehood has replaced Circus Maximus. Nothing new under the sun.

I’ve been watching NFL football for 40 years and the Divisional playoff round this year was some of the most entertaining games I’ve ever seen. The Biils/Chiefs game finish being just insane. If the NFL is dying it’s simply because peoples attention span has been decreasing to enjoy a 3 hr sporting event and most all sports are getting less viewers year by year. I do miss the tough guys and brutal hits from the past, but overall the NFL still provides a pretty good sports entertainment package we get. No one liked the kneeling BLM worship crap, but endure crap for 5 seconds then be entertained for 3 hrs (or 2 hrs if your like me and watch DVR delayed and FF thru commercials and halftime.

Talk to coaches or past players, or any other people who have had associations with the guy. I’ve never heard one positive thing. Or a guy I know who ran a party company and catered a party once at Snyder’s house and said what an awful person he was as a client/host, and the guy I know has done many catering a at the super wealthy around the DC metro area and said Snyder was the worst.
