The Pantyhose Thread

Yes certainly. But even more so, if you are spending $500 on a purse and you don't already have a million in assets your priorities are off and even more so in these very uncertain economic times. And that would not make a good partner for me. It would cause me a lot of stress and it wouldn't last long.
There is something to be said about buying high quality items though, especially if they’re used daily. In my opinion, it’s better to spend $200 on a well made leather purse that will be used for many years than repeatedly buying $20 purses that fall apart after a few months (and probably are worth $5 or less in materials anyway).

Very true. A $200 purse a woman will use the rest of her life is a good investment. A $200 purse that is given to good will a year or two down the road, because it is no longer in style, is throwing money away.

So it could go either way.

I saw Clockwatchers the other night about 4 temps who work at an office. It's like a dramatic version of Office Space. Anyhow, I noticed that a lot of the women in the movie wore pantyhose. This movie came out in 1997 so it was most likely filmed in 1996, but hosery was still very popular in the workplace.

In fact, much to my amazement, there's even a vid on YouTube dedicated to the film on this very topic:

That is 25 years ago you know. It doesn’t seem that long ago but is.

What's your point?
The point is that there were women that are now 25 that were infants when that movie was out. The thread is about current trends to wear pantyhose. If in 1997 someone had written on the internet, which would have been unlikely at that time, that poodle skirts are no longer worn or that most women seem to wear pants instead of dresses, and someone countered with a movie from 25 years prior, that would have had no bearing on the present year of 1997

I posted the video because we were trying to figure out the last time that hosiery was worn by a large majority of women. If you had read the entire thread, you'd know that.
