(What variety are you taking?)

That does not seem like the optimal way to experience it for the first time, in my opinion.

Sure the trip gets very introspective at times and it's a great moment to have profound realizations about yourself, your place in the world, you get creative bursts, etc. However, since you haven't experienced it before (nor have you tried any other psychadelics), you can panic and fuck up. You already seem to have a good, optimistic mindset, which is very important when you are going on this kind of trip, but sometimes things change during it or some thoughts that were creeping in the shadows take over, so it can be bad. My advice is that you should probably do it with at least one other friend (preferably one who has experienced it before and/or who you deeply trust), so that one can keep an eye out for the other in case you get a stupid idea ("I want to race with my car right now"), enter a bad trip or get some sort of allergic reaction to the chemicals in the drug.

Also, why are chosing to take it indoors? LSD is great for visual and sensory stimulations and I'd personally say there's no greatest way to experience that than outdoors. If I were you, I'd reconsider and do it somewhere beautiful (beach, mountains, forest) where you can both be at peace, in touch with nature, or having fun with whoever is accompanying you.

By the way, since you want to have some inner moments and think about your life and existence, I'd also recommend that if you're doing it with a friend, choose one that is independent but who can also join in whatever. What I mean is, if you decide you want to be quiet and you're very introspective, he'll let you do it instead of trying to cut your trip because he wants to do something else, so choose wisely!

Don't forget to report back, I'm curious how this will turn out.

I know people who have had real bad trips from LSD and had been permanently effected by it...
Ya. I met a guy on Dead tour who was noticeably fucked up. Stumbling around, crashing into my jewelry vending table, giggling. A mad man, really. Someone had splashed a vial of LSD on him and since then he'd been in this new state for a few years. Heartbreaking.

I've heard of other guys who wound up living in a mental institution from a bad trip.

And I met a heavy tripper who was sane and functional, but was slightly to moderately impaired. And have met many people who claim mild cognitive impairment. And of course many others who noticed no impairment.

I took a pretty big dose once and had what most would call an extremely heavy trip, but what the doctors called a psychotic break. Earlier in the night, before the full effect had hit me, me and my buddy were watching TV when I turned to him and exclaimed "Wait - that's a black and white TV!". We stared at each other wide eyed, then looked back at the TV. "Oh yea!". We were both watching it in color.

Shortly after that I started scribbling on a pad of paper, and saw my doodles in deep 3-D. I thought they were brilliant works of art and that in the morning I'd be famous. Then I started to get some messianic complex. Then it got weird.

The doctors would check in on me in my guerney from time to time and ask me how I was doing. I didn't respond because I thought they were just another hallucination.

That was a wild night.

Had a case of the stupids the next day and was given a doctors note to skip out on my French exam for later that week. Saw two new colors that don't exist the next day, while in the hospital. Some new type of red and a new type of blue. I speculated that they were in the infrared and ultraviolet? They were superimposed on objects, but out of alignment with them.

I had the early part of the evening on tape, and when I replayed it I could hear the alternate personality that was spontaneously generated come out, and feel him. Strange.

The family doctor counseled me that I had a strong mind, and he'd seen it go the other way with some guys, from a similar dose. Some guys get the psychotic break, and don't return. That's what happened to an original Pink Floyd band member, from a spiked drink. Or was it some other band? I saw it on a rock documentary so I may be mixing up the crazy people histories. Oh ya, ummm, an original band member of ... Fleetwood Mac who sang "oh black momma, rambo lan, ooooh black moma, rambo lan"

I think acid just sets certain things off in people who already have loose screws. Everyone I know who used it regularly trip has no problems now. It's mainly just hype to scare people.

LSD brings on the onset and symptoms of schizophrenia very quickly and succinctly for people who suffer from that illness. I know a few people personally who are effected by schizophrenia, all of them saw a rapid onset of the effects of the illness after ingesting LSD. These are people who would end up afflicted by the disease either way, I'm not suggesting that LSD was the cause, but it certainly brought it on very strongly and had a negative effect on them.

The quality of acid is also crucial, and now a days it's very difficult to get pure, clean acid. I know that bad acid can induce a very bad trip, and a bad acid trip can be a nightmare. I've heard first hand accounts of people's bad trips and it's nothing I would want to experience. I think mushrooms are a safer bet, of all the people I know who have done mushrooms (a lot) only one person had a bad trip. If you're going to do acid I would certainly vet the person you get it from, and make sure it's good stuff, if the guy has never tried it himself and can't vouch for it, don't take it.

I read/heard somewhere that the reason people have bad trips is because they took too much.

Apparently the best way to prevent a bad trip would be to ingest a small dose and take it from there.

I haven't done any psychedelics yet, but I have been educating myself heavily about them lately.

Also it is not recommended to try DMT without the assistance of a seasoned DMT user ( Shaman, Doctor).
There is a reason why the shaman is the only one who gives people ayuasca.

LSD,DMT,IBOGAINE,MDMA
Those are life changing substances, IBOGAINE has been documented to cure drug addict.

If I was the ruler of a country and had an agenda, I would make sure people do not have access to any type of psychedelics because there are some serious mind opening shit.

To those not familiar with psychedelics, I would advise you to just take a couple of hours, go on youtube and watch documentaries about them

Cracked me up. Awesome.

Question to you guys: how long does the acid you have ingested usually lasted for? What about shrooms?

When i have taken mushrooms or peyote, i always have felt like there is some deep revelation about the world, as if i have found the right way to live, and these are often thoughts like being a more kind person, more compassionate, etcetera, basically a bunch of hippie stuff. I have also felt once how we are related to every living thing in some way, obviously this is a kind of trivial thought, but the difference is that when you are tripping you also "feel" it and the visualizations can be pretty amazing too.

Unfortunately, this train of thought does not last long and as soon i enter the "real world" i see that there are mean, mediocre people and i can't maintain that mindset for any more than 1 week, is like if during the trip my brain was tricked with thoughts that may not be correct, but while i was tripping i was very sure that this was the right way to act and live. Does anybody have a similar experience?

Yes King, that's how a lot of people feel when they trip. The world starts opening up and you see thing more clearly. You should try to write things down when you trip.

Only do them in the most beautiful natural environments for maximum experience.

Cannot stress this enough. Also they should be secluded, tranquil and free of any randoms/weirdos/buzzkills. If you have friends with a beach house/lake house/ski chalet/cabin in the woods, this is where you want to do them. Being inside can be a major buzzkill and make you wig out.

Try and plant for good weather to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. With that said, getting caught in the rain was what led to one of the best trips of my life. Don't forget to drink water. If you puke or take a big shit, no big deal, you'll feel just fine right afterwards.

Ya, some people use spiritual practices to try to stay in that lovey dovey space where you share an over-soul with all beings. Over time they can have an effect, and you can have some pretty trippy experiences even without the drugs.

Some of those meditations, I believe, also have charismatic value.

But those feelings tend to fade in and out also. Probably neurochemical, along with how our brain tends to make sense out of data to create a “reality” out of it. But as far as illusions go, it seems a good one to choose. Effective towards being happy and making others happy, and towards seduction.

San Francisco- When I goomed (shroomed) I was in utter amazement at the trees, wind, clouds and random natural stuff. I would reach out my hand and look at the sky. The trees, leaves and clouds would breathe in and out. It felt like a scene from 3D avatar. A-freaking-mazing.

Had a mild bad-trip on my 1st time. Lol, its kind of funny now actually. Saw a dachshund walking with a gay owner. ...

I was all messed up, and saw the dog as if it were 3 feet long and the feet were only 4 inches wide. It had a gay owner that was the most naggy, neurotic owner I had ever seen. The gay owner treated this poor dog as a kid, nagging it to come along. Then snapping at it in a high-pitched mom-voice. Poor dog was hobbling along, struggling under the weight of its disproportionate body and small feet. I started crying about how sad it was to be that little dog.

My friend and I booked it out of their stat. I continued sobbing for a good 5 minutes after. The thing is shrooms really opens your eyes/lowers your barriers. Your conscious mind creates mental barriers to prevent emotional stress from accumulating. Thats how I see it. Other people neuorticism is generally no big deal for me, but in my shrooming state I couldn't handle it. I felt tremendous empathy for the dog.

Did anyone else ever feel some sort of dissociation from their ego, perhaps a rudimentary witness consciousness experience, and try to explain to others that "it's not me that's talking"?

It's the strangest experience to watch the words come out of your mouth, know that others won't be able to understand what you mean, but still feel compelled to try to explain the unique experience, and to really feel strongly that it is not you who is talking.

I think Joe Rogan said it best- high dosages of psychedelics are profoundly ego-obliterating. You as an individual w/your preconceptions cease to exist. Your filters are 100% down and you are as a child again.

That's funny DVY. I remember listening to this on repeat and crying like a baby after taking some shrooms. It was weird. I wrote down all these things I need to like talk to my sister more, call my mom and this other sentitmental shit. Then I put a Bruce Lee movie on and was just stuck in it like I was on the set. My friend was talking to me and I just stared at him and couldn't say anything. I was forming words in my head but couldn't get them out lol. That was a bad trip. I felt like I was stuck in a bad place and couldn't get in a good zone. I see y'all are gonna make me get some shrooms and "find myself".
This is the song.

I want to try DMT for this 2013. I have a secluded place in a mountain that is extremely peaceful and relaxing. Im not sure how pure and strong the DMT around here is, but I've heard it makes you trip heavily.

Been getting ready mentally and emotionally for it. I think I am ready and mature enough to experience my first DMT trip.

I'm almost ready to grow my own, can't find them anymore. Anyone have experience with the grow kits?

The last time I got a huge amount and went overboard. I was doing them every Friday or Saturday for about two months. I'd pop a handful and head out to the bars, go to parties and concerts or just hang out and meditate. 95% of these were solo trips, nobody had a clue I was on them and I functioned fine, could drive my car, socialize, it was a blast.

The one bad trip during this time was taking a large dose and going to hang out with a few guys and drink beers. I didn't know they were putting on UFC fights and it was brutal. I might as well have jumped on a fucking rollercoaster! I love UFC too but not on mushrooms, it was just pure hate and evil. After two fights I couldn't take it, felt like puking, couldn't even drink a beer and had to wait a couple hours before I could drive home.

What's great about them is they are therapy in the palm of your hand. You will see things and experience stuff on another level and when it's all over you can't help but be happy about life in general. It's like hitting the mental reset button.

For me, taking mushrooms was kind of like injesting the red pill and seeing the matrix, but more in terms of society, culture, spirituality, etc.

It can be a profound spiritual/mystical experience, and if you've never experienced one, now is the best time to start.

I've never tried any psychedelic drug, or any drug for that matter other than plain old THC. The closest I've come to a mind-warping experience was taking Ambien CR and fighting against it until I started hallucinating. I put on my headphones and listened to music and it sounded like the most incredible thing ever.

But to my point, I hear a lot of talk of mysticism and spirituality. And then hearing that Steve Jobs went to India and became a Buddhist and dropped acid all sounds so cliche of the meaning-craved Westerner trying to find it in Indian mysticism or Kabbala or whatever is cool at the moment. Is there really anything "mystical" about these experiences at all? All it's doing is fucking with your brain chemistry and whatever effect that gives people they think it's something spiritually enlightening. That's one of the reasons hippies annoy me. They think smoking a shit load of pot and eating shrooms brings enlightenment. How could ingesting a chemical that artificially distorts your thinking make you enlightened?

I totally get doing it for fun and social reasons or to spark creativity. But I think claiming that it's "spiritual" and all that stuff...

I spent a few months in 2011 tripping on shrooms 1-2 times a week, it can really blow the doors open. There was even a study done (the who, what, and where escapes me now, but it can be googled) where psilocybin mushrooms were given to priests in seminary several decades ago, and they all had experiences they called mystical, spiritual, what have you. Moreover, they were contacted decades later to follow up on the experiment, and for all of them, that trip was still a highlight of their spiritual lives. I've done acid before, too, it's pretty fun as well. If you're interested, check out erowid.org, it's got a ton of information.
