So ah... anyone here going to vote for Desantis?

AC :

From Sundance – “After months of promoting Ron DeSantis to become the 2024 GOP nominee, which includes the efforts of Rupert Murdoch (and family) via a multimillion-dollar Harper Collins book deal for the Florida governor; lengthy friendly interviews with DeSantis on every program; a full feature infomercial running on Fox News to present him to the national audience; attendance by key program pundits at DeSantis donor events and campaign organization meetings; weeks of specific messaging coordinated with board member Paul Ryan – and the consulting efforts of Karl Rove with the DeSantis operation,”

Fox could not find a DeSantis supporter in their live broadcast from a Florida diner. Interesting to see how things like the book launch, had to be set up pretty far in advance, to get the agent, and the contract set up, the writer working on it, the book submitted and approved, and so on, all because they knew this was the script and DeSantis had this role a year, or two, or three ago, and scheduled all of this to hit right now. And DeSantis had to know the book deal was prep for him challenging Trump now, and that it is all fake window dressing, just a prop dropped in his lap by specialists who produce such things, all for his character in the show. What you see, is not spontaneous, or even planned as we go along. And when it is this planned and controlled, you can see how you could not just run for President yourself on your own initiative, and win, because that would involve a risk to their script. That whole thing works nothing like everyone is told. It can’t, because they need to control it completely.

Ron DeSantis’s book is already a #1 bestseller on Amazon. LOL! It is all dropped in their laps. And here we are – I was so raised on the concept of meritocracy, I still have a little bit of trouble believing it is all this fake, and nobody bought his book and all of those purchases are fake, even though I know the reality is very likely that. And DeSantis knows too, and understands it is all part of the game.

Voxday :

Already #1!

Wow! That’s just incredible! A #1 bestseller on Amazon! Ron DeSantis must be very, very popular, and so smart and an excellent writer! What a great President he will be!
Clown World wants us to believe that everyone is just rushing to read Ron DeSantis’s book now that they’ve finished reading Harry Markle’s record-setting bestseller.

Ron DeSantis’s book is already a #1 bestseller on Amazon
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s “The Courage to Be Free” hits number one on it’s first day of Amazon sales. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s new book went on sale today, and it’s already hit number one on Amazon:
Gov. Ron DeSantis’s book “The Courage to Be Free,” which goes on sale Tuesday, has already hit No. 1 on the Top 100 list of Amazon.
— The Wall Street Journal (@WSJ) February 28, 2023
That’s a perfectly meaningless title for a ghostwritten political book that virtually no one will read, and anyone who does read it will forget the contents within five minutes of finishing it as completely as if his mind was erased multiple times. These “book sales” are just another form of narrative shaping; it’s no different than Ben Shapiro’s radio show being syndicated all over the place or Eric July shattering the comics crowdfunding record previously set by Ethan van Sciver.
I always find it telling that these “bestselling authors” so seldom bother writing a follow-up.
I’m probably one of the few people who actually tried to read Battlefield Earth. It was always near the top of the B. Dalton’s bestseller list and it was a huge science fiction novel, so it must be good, right? I don’t think I finished the second chapter, which really caused me to harbor some serious doubts about human intelligence. And then I learned about Scientology, and marketing, and it all made sense.

They couldn't find a single supporter of the most popular Governor in Florida history in a Florida diner? Does that sound believable to you?

Both of those posts are nothing but delusional cope. DeSantis is extremely popular both in Florida and nationwide, and he hasn't even declared his candidacy for President yet. Despite that, he's been living rent-free in Donald Trump's head for the past two years, driving the notoriously insecure and thin-skinned Trump insane with jealousy by simply daring to produce an actual record of political accomplishments. Trump is the most divisive political figure in the country, his ceiling of support is already maxed out. He has no room to gain any more potential voters, he can only lose them going forward. In contrast, DeSantis has a lot of room to run. His ceiling is much higher than Trump's at this point, even among Republicans, and is enormously higher when including Democrats and Independents.

These Trump diehards are just embarrassing themselves. They don't seem to realize that Trump is not their guy anymore. He's just up there doing his schtick and raising money. He doesn't care about lasting accomplishments. He doesn't care about getting anything done for the country. He's in this purely for himself. He wants to sit in the big chair again. He wants the attention. He wants, desperately, just to go out as a winner. It's all about his damaged ago.

IT'S A GIMMICK. How do people not realize this now? My God, wake up people. It's not 2015 anymore. We've seen this man in action. We know who he is and exactly what he is capable of doing. The job of President is clearly beyond him. He's a master salesman and promoter, he's not a capable political executive. DeSantis, in contrast, has demonstrated himself to be the single most competent political executive in the country. He's also over 30 years younger than Trump, much smarter and actually seems interested in doing things instead of just talking about them.

People really need to snap out of the Trump spell. He's running a personality cult at this point. Personally, I don't put my faith in men. I look at politicians as tools. Trump is a worn out, ineffective tool at this point, and needs to be retired. It's really that simple. I think a lot of people are actually sympathetic to this argument, but are operating under the mistaken impression that DeSantis is a RINO or a Jeb Bush clone and so feel like they can't support him. But that assumption is false, and is easily disproven by doing even cursory research on DeSantis's record and background. As I've said before, DeSantis isn't getting big donor support because he's a GOP errand boy, he's getting it because those people are smart enough to realize he's the only Republican capable of defeating Trump in a primary, and they're sick of Trump and his baggage. That's really it. If they had it their way, they would love to install Nikki Haley or Tim Scott in the White House. But they recognize that neither of them are winners. DeSantis is a winner, a doer and an achiever, so they will reluctantly back him, even though as a politician he is much more populist and America First than any other GOP candidate.

That's all good and well. And lots of truth to it.... but DeSantis peaked too soon, and he's done for 2024. Call me whatever you want, but its
true.

For the record I'd vote for him either way over Biden. BUT....

This Trump thing, like it or not, has to run its course, and EVERYONE who challenges him will be seen in opposition to it. Even if DeSantis is a better Administrator, he does not hit the emotions that are needed to get the support he would need in a general election. Meanwhile Trump Pulled 72 Million votes.

You can kvetch about the cult of personality all you want.... and be completely correct. But that doesnt change the base's support and their actions come election time. People who fervently support Trump will not vote for DeSantis. And People who are non-frequent voters will not go into 2028 with high opinions of the guy who (IF he by some chance does win) beats their guy.

Scorpion, I don't disagree with much of that. A Governor is one thing but DeSantis has seen nothing yet as far as opposition. I campaigned for a popular Governor Bush from Texas. It was declared that black churches would "burn" if Governor Bush was elected.

Trump has already been ripped to shreds and so will DeSantis when his time comes. Neither Trump nor DeSantis can win in swing states with mass mail in ballots. At this point I would rather have DeSantis as the nominee but no Republican can win in a state that takes a week or so to 'count' the votes. After election day ends the left knows how many votes the need to 'win' and they will keep counting until they reach their desired outcome. What's sad is that a plurality of the country is fine with that. Let's not forget that Trump WON in 2020! There will never be a red wave in mass mail in ballot states.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis warned people to "buckle up" as he signed a bill giving the state control over Disney's sprawling Orlando theme parks.
The bill strips power uniquely held by Disney for over 50 years and enables more oversight by Mr DeSantis' Republican-led legislature.

Looks like it's a done deal since FL legislature is solidly with DeSantis.

The Disney thing is a good example of what sets DeSantis apart from Trump and the other Republicans. It shows that he understands that political power is not just ceremonial, rather it is meant to be used. The only reason to acquire power in the first place is to actually use it, and you use political power by punishing your enemies and rewarding your friends. Trump apparently just wants power because it makes him feel like a very important person and makes him permanently the center of attention. These other GOP cucks just want power so they can do favors for their lobbyist friends and collect fat kickbacks down the road. DeSantis is the only major politician who actively and intentionally seeks to utilize political power to punish his enemies, and who does so consistently and effectively.

Actually wielding the power of government against your political foes takes a certain degree of will and fortitude, and is something that has been sorely lacking on the right for a long time. The left has been doing for generations, in contrast, which is why they have made so many enormous gains over the course of our lifetimes. They simply play to win, unapologetically, and do not hesitate to use and abuse the power of government to push their agenda. DeSantis is the only man who has demonstrated the ability and the willingness to use the same playbook to push his own agenda, which has consistently been populist and nationalist in nature.

There is literally no rational justification for not supporting DeSantis at this point, because unlike Trump, he actually has significant potential upsides, and under every potential outcome he's still the best play.

1) DeSantis wins the Presidency and serves two terms and accomplishes great things for our side because he actually understands how to wield government power. <---- best case scenario
2) DeSantis loses the primary to Trump. Trump wins the Presidency and governs ineffectively for four years due to his political incompetence, accomplishing nothing of note <---- we have seen this movie before.
3) DeSantis loses the primary to Trump. Trump loses a rigged general election to Biden. <---- we are already here, Media will easily sell a second stolen election because Trump is so widely despised by a huge swath of the country
4) DeSantis wins the primary and loses to Biden in a rigged general election. <---- Much harder for the media sell a second blatantly stolen election with much more likeable and competent candidate like DeSantis. The fire rises significantly as a result.

I appreciate your thoughtful points but I feel like there are some potential outcomes you haven't listed such as:

5) DeSantis wins the Presidency and accomplishes nothing of note and/or sells out to centrist Repub/neocon interests
6) Trump wins the Presidency and is able to be more ruthless/effective due to learning from his first term's mistakes

Can argue till we're blue in the face about the likelihood of each but it's not as cut and dry as you're making it out to be.

In the case of 5), we have lost nothing, and are still inarguably better off than with Biden or another Democrat in office.

The case of 6) is supremely unlikely, given that Trump is pushing 80 years old and is a completely known quantity. The idea that Trump is going to storm into office and start splitting skulls is pure and unadulterated copium, literally on the level of Q-tier nonsense. TRUST THE PLAN, THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT, YOU WILL SEE!!

No, nothing will be different. Trump is who he is, he has shown us everything he's capable of. He doesn't really understand how to use executive power effectively and he's too old and stubborn to learn at this point. If Trump had it in him to go hard, he would have done so after the stolen election. But he did not. He slinked away and Tweeted.

Trump is not your savior and is not willing to do the hard things that are necessary. Is DeSantis? Hopefully. Possibly. Maybe. That's still a much better option than Trump, who is 100% guaranteed to be ineffective and to shy away from making the tough calls, because he has repeatedly demonstrated his character in that regard.

In the bill, Brodeur wrote that those who write “an article, a story, or a series of stories,” about “the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a Cabinet officer, or any member of the Legislature,” and receives or will receive payment for doing so, must register with state offices within five days after the publication of an article that mentions an elected state official.

If another blog post is added to a blog, the blogger would then be required to submit monthly reports on the 10th of each month with the appropriate state office. They would not have to submit a report on months when no content is published.

For blog posts that “concern an elected member of the legislature” or “an officer of the executive branch,” monthly reports must disclose the amount of compensation received for the coverage, rounded to the nearest $10 value.

If compensation is paid for a series of posts or for a specific amount of time, the blogger would be required to disclose the total amount to be received, upon publication of the first post in said series or timeframe.

Wfla is an NBC affiliate, you should probably refrain from posting their articles without context, you might as well post their coverage of how fascist Desantis is destroying education by preventing a university from discriminating against white people.

That bill is pretty laughably unconstitutional, but it drives home the point I made above about DeSantis being willing to attack his enemies. This is the sort of thing the left does all the time: pass some ridiculous, unconstitutional law that furthers their agenda and let the courts deal with the fallout later. This is called playing playing political hardball, and it's something that pretty much no one on the right is willing to do. Except Ron DeSantis. If we are going to make any headway in reversing the massive tide against us, we need people like this who are willing to go on the offensive, and who aren't afraid to get a little dirty in doing so. The days of fighting with one hand tied behind our back must end. The left has been playing for blood for decades, it's time we do the same. The stakes are too high to do otherwise.

They couldn't find a single supporter of ... any other GOP candidate.

The post of mine above.
Was not intended as a pro-Trump post.

Rather - suspicion in regards to those who support, back & finance DeSantis, behind the scenes.
Also, another example of how the whole 'book deal / bestseller list' scheme. Is more likely, a money laundering scam.

No need to take it in any other context.

DeSantis Faces New Antisemitism Threat as Neo-Nazis Plan 'Day of Hate'

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is facing a new headache as his state's Jewish community braces for a neo-Nazi "Day of Hate" following a series of antisemitic incidents in his state.

Neo-Nazi organizations, led by the hate group Goyim Defense League, are planning to target Jewish communities across the country on Saturday. The demonstrations of antisemitic hatred are expected to take place one week after league members flashed Nazi salutes, shouted slurs and harassed Jewish people outside the Chabad center in Orlando.

DeSantis has previously faced criticism, accused of acting slowly in condemning acts of antisemitic hatred in Florida, including neo-Nazi demonstrations and incidents across the state over the past year. The governor has not indicated whether he supports a state bill intended to target antisemitism by strengthening laws against hate speech.

Florida House Bill 269, which was introduced last month by Republican State Representatives Mike Caruso and Randy Fine, would make it a hate crime to, without consent, leave antisemitic flyers outside a person's home or project antisemitic messages onto buildings.

Antisemitic slurs and messages promoting conspiracy theories like "Jews did 9/11" have recently been repeatedly projected onto buildings in Florida. Antisemitism watchdog groups have linked the incidents to Goyim Defense League and fellow far-right hate group National Socialism Florida.

Goyim Defense League founder Jon Minadeo II led the antisemitic harassment on display in Orlando last week, according to multiple media reports. A video of Minadeo harassing Jewish people in passing cars was shared on Twitter this week, with DeSantis being tagged in the tweet.

"Leave our country, go back to Israel. You know, where you bomb Palestinian kids," Minadeo shouted through a megaphone to a Jewish person passing in a car. "You look like a Jewish horse. Look at the horse face on this Jew!"

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is reportedly planning to add resources to local law enforcement agencies in anticipation of increased antisemitic incidents this weekend due to the "Day of Hate."

"Violence, threats of violence and physical intimidation will not be tolerated against the Jewish community in Florida and has no place in our state," FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass said in a statement to Miami CBS station WFOR.

"Such actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. FDLE is partnering with local law enforcement agencies to enhance response capabilities and ensure that Florida's Jewish community is safe and well-supported," Glass added.

Michael Herzog, Israel's ambassador to the U.S., questioned the lack of an "uproar" over the planned hate event in a tweet on Friday, asking whether society had "learned nothing" from the Holocaust.

"How can it be that less than a century after the Holocaust, a Neo-Nazi group in the U.S. calls for a National Day of Hate against the Jews - and there's no uproar?" Herzog tweeted. "Have we learned nothing? Have we forgotten that words lead to actions? I pray for a peaceful Shabbat for everyone."

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said it is "not aware of any specific threats linked to the planned white supremacist campaign," although the hate groups are thought to be "hoping for increased antisemitic flyer distributions, protests and graffiti."

"It is completely unacceptable that the Jewish community—or any community—should be targeted by extremists spreading hate and alarm," ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement. "The hate groups behind this effort hope that we will be afraid and isolated. Instead, we are coming together in resolve and solidarity."

Newsweek has reached out to the office of DeSantis for comment.

I'm listening to a podcast that is doing a deep dive on this whole situation. This is a bad situation for DeSantis. If he doesn't pass this bill, his donors will be furious with him and likely drop him. If he does pass this bill, this is a huge target on his back when trying to run for an office bigger than Florida governor. This is extremely unpopular, especially when the facts come to light that it was all over some fliers being distributed and the talk of "violence" is completely made up.

As for this goofball tough talking sheriff, he got destroyed on twitter...

Cross post via The JQ thread.

Looks like the Florida GOP is expected to pass their new "antisemitism hate crime" bill soon. Florida will have the worse hate crime laws than California or New York if Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signs the new law.

Not only that but look how fast the anti Semitic tweets were deleted. According to the racist tweets, you will now get three years in jail for throwing a penny at a synagogue
