Quick update across the board:

"Admiral Makarov" in Sevastopol /first from the left/ - "Yesterday, through the collective efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO allies, the Tor air defense system on snake island was partially disabled. After that, the Ukrainian Air Force tried to make a massive raid on the island, in addition to unmanned aircraft, they attacked with at least two pairs of Su-24 and Su-27 tactical aircraft. Kharkov / ukrainian counter - Russian troops pulled out of some exposed villages. Now Russian troops control an 8 to 10 kilometer deep buffer zone between Kazachya Lopan-Rubizhne line /Rubizhne in Kharkov, not to be confused with Rubizhne in Lugansk/ and the border.

Lugansk / Popasna - "Military correspondents reported that on the night of May 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and nationalist detachments left their positions in the south of Popasna and retreated in the direction of Bakhmut.
During the retreat, they blew up the railway bridge in the village of Kalinovo-Popasnaya. Local authorities state that the position of Ukrainian formations in the city is deteriorating as the advancing forces encircle it".

Mariupol /rigth now/ - "A group of Ukrainian military went out in the Azovstal area with a white flag onto the road, where they received evacuated civilians. This was announced by the commander of the battalion "Vostok" Alexander Khodakovsky. The Russian military moved forward to meet the Ukrainian fighters as parliamentarians. This is the first personal contact of the parties for the entire time of the fighting in Mariupol."

"The city of Popasnaya came under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the LPR.

Apparently though, there is a bigger fish yet than American NATO general Cloutier in the Azovstal bunker, Lieutenant General Trevor Cadieux, who was up to very recently the highest ranking general in the Canadian armed forces, equivalent of the US Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff.

Cadieux resigned in Sept 2021 after some kind of a sexual misconduct infraction, so he would be the perfect profile for an undercover mission in Mariupol, not being officially part of Canadian military, yet still being in the loop.

There are also, supposedly, a large number of high-ranking French intel officers.

I guess we'll find out later this month, there will be a bunch of emaciated NATO big fish in the final haul. Russia's goal is to have these high-level captives publicly describe the nature of the bioweapon program that was located in the secret labs beneath the Azovstal plant.

The saga of famed Canadian Sniper Wali and his journey to Ukraine has come to an end:



Once lauded by the international media, a Canadian sniper known as ‘Wali’ has returned from Ukraine to Quebec, telling local media that his experience there was a “terrible disappointment.” He claimed there was inadequate weaponry, poor training and heavy losses, as well as profiteering and desertion in the ranks.
When ‘Wali’ answered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call in March and volunteered to fight for Ukraine, he was given lavish coverage by the Western media. A former Canadian soldier who had also volunteered to fight with Kurdish militants in Iraq, Wali was described by Spanish media as “the best sniper in the world,” celebrated by American military bloggers for “hilariously troll[ing]” Russia and praised by the New York Post for “grabbing anti-tank missiles in a warehouse to kill real people.”
However, he said that reality left him disillusioned. Back home in Quebec, Wali told La Presse on Friday that his Ukrainian commanders initially “didn’t know what to do” with foreign fighters like himself. Tired of waiting for an opportunity to fight, Wali joined the ‘Norman Brigade,’ a private unit led by another former soldier from Quebec.
However, several members of this brigade told La Presse that weapons and armor promised by the brigade’s head never showed up, and some of its members found themselves near the front lines with no protective equipment. Around 60 members of the brigade have since deserted, its commander told La Presse, and some soldiers “schemed” to steal a $500,000 shipment of American-supplied weapons and form their own unit.
Wali eventually joined a Ukrainian unit fighting near Kiev, and described having to seek out weapons, food and gasoline. “You had to know someone who knew someone who told you that in some old barbershop they would give you an AK-47,” he recounted. “Even for the meals, it is often the civilians who provide them.”
In the end, Wali said that he ended up firing two bullets into windows “to scare people,” and decided to come home shortly after two Ukrainian conscripts he was posted with in the Donbass region exposed themselves to a Russian tank and received “highly accurate” shell fire in return.

02.05.2022 - ukrainians started to poke arounf the island with drones, 2 Russian Raptor boats were targeted

06.05.2022 - Air raid on the island /drones, missiles and Su aircraft/. Tor air defense was damaged. Serna class landing craft was targeted by Bayraktar drones. Fake news about Admiral Makarov appeared.

Today, South command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Bandera Media announced the destruction of the Russian Mi-8 helicopter on Snake Island and presented the following video in confirmation. But upon closer examination, it becomes obvious that the video captures the moment the Ukrainian troops landed from the Mi-8 helicopter and its subsequent destruction by the Russian side.
The video clearly shows how paratroopers are located around the helicopter, providing a landing zone (carried out when landing on enemy-controlled territory). Thus, the Kyiv junta, in order to demonstrate another "peramogi", in its stupidity, confirmed the very fact of the destruction of its own helicopter and landing."

08.05.2022 - The Russian Ministry of Defense: "During the night, Russian air defense systems destroyed two more Ukrainian Su-24 bombers and one Mi-24 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force over the Snake Island, and a Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down near the city of Odessa."
Also ukrainian project 1241 corvette was destroyed - they had 2 such boats, "Uzhgorod" and "Grigory Kuropyatnikov", now only one is left.

The first linked video - the bayraktar strike on Raptor boats is already recycled and used to show another ukrainian victory...

War of attrition ? - yeah, artillery works there 24/7. Is it strange ?

Commenters at moonofalabama believe it is true that Ukraine has mounted a counterattack NE of Kharkiv, acknowledging that retreating Russians dropped several bridges to protect their rear while departing. Nobody knows how meaningful it is, but definitely good news for UA forces. Russians may have just been re-positioning forces to other parts of the Donbass fight, which would've made a decent opportunity target for Ukraine to fill a void. Who knows.

As for Snake Island events recently, it appears both sides are claiming victory. It goes to show that much propaganda is floating around on both sides.

Kharkiv counter didn't advance in the last few days. No changes since friday, maybe because of those bridges ?

Snake Island - I'll go with Russians on this. Why?

- No raise the flag / Iwo Jima pictures from ukraine. And we know they would love it.

The deceased pilot was one of the most experienced Ukrainian pilots. During his lifetime, he mastered several types of helicopters and even turboprop aircraft. Breakthrough in northern Donbass - Russian troops crossed the Donets river near Belogorovka /halfway between Siversk and Lysichansk/

"It is reported from the field that the allied forces were able to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Belogorovka area, forcing the Seversky Donets. If you are looking for a TV show ending to the war in Ukraine, this is not the place for you. This piece is written with the intent of trying to give you a variety of information that is not being reported on the mainstream news channels, western and Russian.

I want to start with the commentary of Austrian Colonel Markus Reisner, which coincides with my own recent analysis:

Austrian colonel and military expert Markus Reisner declared that Western countries are seriously mistaken in relying on large arms supplies for the Ukrainian army. According to Markus Reisner, ”the Russian army continues to make solid progress in its offensive against Ukrainian positions in the Donbass, and it will be victorious in the region. This is evidenced by the fact that most of the territories of the DPR and LPR, including large cities, are already under the control of the Russian army.
Russia also controls important facilities in southern Ukraine, on the shores of the Sea of Azov.” Austrian colonel also added that ”in the West they try not to talk about the obvious advance of the Russian armed forces and the Western media make a lot of efforts to hide the obvious successes of the Russians, which is a serious mistake”.

Markus Reisner stressed that ”He is following the situation in Ukraine from various sources, and concluded that the West is deeply mistaken in relying on large military aid supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. Without a functional air force and the capability to maneuver artillery and tank units, Ukraine is confronted with a war of attrition that it cannot win. Ignore the military activities and focus on the economic reality confronting Ukraine. Their ability to produce and export grain (a critical source of foreign exchange) has been damaged severely. Ukraine is no longer able to rely on container ships importing and exporting critical goods. Ukraine cannot replace this with truck convoys from Poland. At this point, Ukraine is like a soldier with a bleeding femoral artery. Death is just a matter of time.
