Statement on the situation with the battles for the liberation of Svyatogorsk:

The Russian armed forces are completing the liberation of the city of Svyatogorsk of the Donetsk People's Republic and the surrounding area.

️In order to prevent the retreat of Ukrainian troops from Svyatogorsk, Ukrainian nationalist formations acting as barrier detachments today blew up a bridge across the Seversky Donets River.
️Under the onslaught of Russian units, cut off from the main forces and supplies due to the undermining of the bridge, the remnants of the battalions of the 95th airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 81st separate airmobile brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abandoned military equipment along with weapons and dispersed along the river bank.
️Up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen swam across the river. The Russian servicemen deliberately did not open fire on them.
️We regard the refusal of the Ukrainian military to defend the useless Kyiv regime led by nationalists as the only right thing to do, not cowardice.
In doing so, they all saved their lives.
️We call on all military personnel and members of the territorial defense units of Ukraine to follow this example and stop thoughtless resistance in order to save their lives. For its part, the Russian armed forces guarantee all Ukrainian servicemen and members of territorial defense units who voluntarily laid down their arms decent treatment and return to their families."

"The testimonies of local residents and monks in the liberated Svyatogorsk of the Donetsk People's Republic confirm the deliberate arson on June 4 by Ukrainian nationalists of the wooden skete of All Saints of the Russian Land.
️ According to eyewitnesses, as early as the second of June of this year, the Ukrainian military came to the territory located to the south, across the river from the city, the Svyatogorsk historical and architectural reserve.
️ The goal was to survey the area for placement on the high bank, where the architectural reserve is located, artillery positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fighting continues on the line of contact in Tsupovka and Velikie Prohody. Foreign mercenaries are participating in the clashes from the Ukrainian side.
In Dementievka, engineering units of the RF Armed Forces blockaded servicemen from the 92nd mechanized brigade
There are clashes near Rubizhnoye. According to some reports, the RF Armed Forces mined all approaches to the village.
Russian army continues to push the enemy out of Ternovaya.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to strengthen the grouping in the Chuguev direction - reinforcements have been deployed to Bazalievka
In Akhtyrka, Sumy region, DRGs are being actively trained under the guidance of NATO instructors. They will be involved both in the border areas and on the line of contact in the Kharkiv region.

"The battle for Davydov Brod in the Nikolaev-Kherson direction: May 30 - June 7, 2022

Before the start of the offensive on Davydov Brod, the line of demarcation between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation passed, in fact, along the banks of the Vysun and Ingulets rivers. The entire section from Snigirevka to Chervony Yar by the end of May was one continuous gray zone, where sabotage and reconnaissance groups periodically collided with each other.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied two small villages of Kalinovka and Murakhivka, transferring assault units and military equipment there. On the eve of May 30, the construction of a pontoon crossing in Veliky Artakovo began.
At the same time, tactical aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was deployed to the front, aircraft worked on the positions of the Russian Armed Forces from airfields in Krivoy Rog and Voznesensk, Russian fighter aircraft worked in response, and Calibers hit the runways.
On May 30-31, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to force the Ingulets river near Veliky Artakovo and transfer assault units to the southern bank. In the following days, battles began near Belogorka - it was there that the artillery units of the RF Armed Forces and aviation burned the ukrainian equipment.
The ratio in manpower was not in favor of the RF Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to push the RF Armed Forces towards Davydov Brod - the defense in the village was held by the forces of one platoon.
Having tied the defenders of the settlement in battle, the Armed Forces of Ukraine set up a crossing already in Davydov Brod itself to bring in additional units.
At that moment, the Russian Armed Forces sent reinforcements to this sector of the front - under the cover of artillery fire, the platoon holding Davydov Brod managed to leave the settlement.
By June 5, Davydov Brod was under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - in that village, the units that forced the Ingulets under Veliky Artakovo and in Brod itself joined.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed the ukrainian crossing at Davydov Brod and began to strike at the village.
All Ukrainian units located in that area ceased to exist.
On the night of June 5-6, the RF Armed Forces launched a counteroffensive in two directions - control over Davydov Brod was returned, and Ingulets river was forced through the Ukrainian crossing at Veliky Artakovo.
As of June 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine retain control over Kalinovka and Murakhivka, however, there are only spotters who correct the fire of Ukrainian artillery from Kaluga.
The RF Armed Forces continue to conduct counter-battery combat and build up a grouping to develop a counteroffensive on the northern bank of the Ingulets river."

- The AFU emphasize small unit tactics; this slowed down the Russian advance in the beginning of the war
- The Russian offensive routes largely matched with those the Ukrainians trained for in NATO exercises

- The border regions were full of photo traps & other surveillance equipment that gave the Ukrainians a good idea of what was happening militarily
- Even a full liberation of the DPR & LPR won't secure Donetsk from Ukrainian shelling because of long-range weapon systems

- The seemingly senseless shelling of Donetsk is explained by Ukrainian attempts to cause discontent among civilians in the sense that the Russian Armed Forces cannot protect them
- The capture of Lisichansk will mark the full liberation of the LPR

- "Small cauldron" tactics & the slow advances are deliberate, but not the tactics of choice; Russians are advancing at best with a 1:1 ratio and often against a numerically superior enemy
- Prisoner exchanges are still taking place, but not mass exchanges, 15 for 15, 30 for 30

- The Ukrainian army generally refuses to pick up their dead despite being offered ceasefires to do so
- The average level of experience in the AFU has dropped significantly since the start of the war, it's now 20% professionals and 80% conscripts

- Ukrainian infantry is of very low quality in terms of training & morale; their artillery & special forces are decent
- The Ukrainians generally don't accept close quarter combat and retreat instead, but they usually do so in an organized manner

- The volunteers from all over Russia who are trained in Gudermes (Chechnya) are doing quite well in the war
- This scale of combat is seen for the first time since WW2; Kots has never worked in a conflict of this intensity

- Russia is not at war with Ukraine, but with the entire NATO infrastructure: intelligence, satellites, communications, military equipment, counter-battery systems, electronic warfare systems
- "Bayraktars" are absolute crap, they're fish in a barrel for any decent anti-air

- The Ukrainians are having problems with some munitions, e.g. their Smerch & Uragan MLRS systems rarely fire in volleys nowadays, mostly single shots
- Ukrainian artillery is often the only thing slowing down Russian advances
- Securing Donbass won't automatically win the war

Training maybe, but much of their arty equipment is destroyed or damaged by now. The NATO resupplies are being intercepted also.
The more professional troops are KIA or WIA the more this will be exacerbated, conscripts will fare poorly trying to take on Arty duty.

It will be much reduced due to those systems being singular launch and more easily tracked if missile-delivery and thus able to be countered by sat/drone surveillance and counter-fire.

Initially yes, but they aren't in-depth so the more Russia pushes in the less effective those will be.

All that said. Russia needs to start making some fairly significant gains by the end of this month, a breakthrough is imperative if they want to keep Ukraine on the backfoot.

The units of the 79th brigade and 10th brigade, located on the outskirts of Severodonetsk in Sirotino, are asked to give the command to retreat from the leadership because of the threat of being surrounded.
Part of the servicemen of the 115th ombr retreated to Lisichansk in small groups.
Earlier, units of the 79th Specialized Brigade and 10th Specialized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as 111 territorial defense brigades, departed to Lysichansk in unorganized groups.
The flight was stopped by the transfer of units of foreign mercenaries to Severodonetsk, led by People's Deputy Maryana Bezugly. Foreign mercenaries acted as a detachment and were able to stop the collapse of the defense.
The RF Armed Forces are fighting in the industrial zone near the Azot plant - units of the 81st Airmobile Brigade are holding the defense there together with mercenaries of the International Legion of Territorial Defense.
Units of the RF Armed Forces are conducting successful battles north of Borovskoe, pushing the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the forests to the territory of the airfield and the village."

Its like giving Iraqis an M1 Abrams - they run a single tank down a tight urban canyon of 4-5 story buildings, manage to perch it up on a smashed Renault truck and a concrete fountain, watch it get dogged by a group of teenagers throwing makeshift IEDs down from open windows, then complain about its 'inferiority.'

Reminds me of Korea and Viet Nam where its very obvious who were the pilots flying MiGs that achieved high kill ratios in A2A combat; it wasn't the natives.

Its like giving Iraqis an M1 Abrams - they run a single tank down a tight urban canyon of 4-5 story buildings, manage to perch it up on a smashed Renault truck and a concrete fountain, watch it get dogged by a group of teenagers throwing makeshift IEDs down from open windows, then complain about its 'inferiority.'

Fun fact - M1 Abrams has a Halon based fire extinguisher system, when it activates the crew either jumps out or suffocates... and you can activate it from the outside by a quick pull lever /there are 3 of them/.
The Iraquis learned about them pretty fast... they used to send out kids to "play" near a tank and "accidentally" pull one of those levers - BIG, RED levers - can't miss them.
Causing the Halon System to be activated, which flooded the tank with Halon. And the crew had to bail or suffocate.
And at that point, they'd get gunned down...
