Sorry but every 7-11 within 500 miles of me is Indian owned and operated. Not to mention Dunkin Donuts. How is that a hurtful stereotype if it’s true?

Don't forget the Patel Hotel Cartel.

Bro ...the shitty little NJ neighborhood where I grew up had a local cockroach motel that was Indian owned. I went to school with their son ...and they’re name was Patel.

Later in life I had a high school friend that became a hooker and worked out of that place. Ironic.

The Simpsons last very good season was 8. 9 was very uneven but overall good quality, and 10, while overall fine, was where the decline in quality became obvious. I stopped watching after 11 and have only seen scattered episodes since.

So, after checking the dates, this means the show has been mediocre since 1999. I don't care if they make Apu into a fucking tranny.

^^ totally agree with the above. I didn’t know the seasons but late 90s is when I felt it lost its quality too. Mid 90s was the peak of the series.

The irony is that many of the people who whined about this have probably never set foot inside a convenience store and therefore don't realize the patently obvious fact you pointed out.

It's all because of this faggot Hari Kondabolu (he's on the right) and his crybaby documentary The Problem with Apu.

I'm a British-Indian and I thought Apu was hilarious. His portrayal is not unrealistic. I could walk into an Indian grocery store in Los Angeles today and find expired goods on the shelves or items with the expiry dates rubbed off.

I fucking hate Indian-Americans.

Outside of the Apu business, I think Simpson should have been cancelled a long time ago - it's been shit for at least 15years.

You may have to add British Indians to the hate list. Its seem that couple of pricks from Airstrip One decided to fuck over a show for there brothers and sisters across the Atlantic. Apu is stereotypical Indian that has come and lived in US in the past 30 years. At the same time, Apu has good 20 years of character development in the show that makes him into something more than stereotypes. SJWs only focus on the superficial features of the characters that offends them.

SJWs want the media to depict a utopian vision of diveristiy, not the messiness of the real world. The only non-utopian aspects acceptable are bigoted straight white males.

I used to love the Simpsons when I was a kid but I haven't watched it in about 15 years. This really is awful though, bending to SJW's, Apu was one of my favourite characters and the show will suck without him.

Last year I went and watched a few newer episodes. They still throw some good writing in there, but like anything else they're generally pumping out man hatred in one form or another.
Marge is seen as the smart sensible one, Homer a lazy bungler, Lisa an overachiever, and Bart as a bad boy.
There was one I watched where Mr. Burns decides to start his own for-profit university a la Trump University.

While annoyed but not surprised at this obviously pandering premise for an episode, there was a funny scene where Burns and Smithers return to Burns' alma mater, Yale, to donate a new wing only to be hounded by crazy SJWs and a powerless inneffectual faculty.

"You'd be creating a space for violence," says one student while the screen subtitled something to the effect of "Actual quote from Yale student league"

When you factor in that The Simpsons has ALWAYS had a left-wing agenda (hence it's always been held up as an anomaly in Rupert Murdoch's Fox empire) you begin to realize this is a bellweather for how far the left has shifted towards the extreme for it to single it out for attack.

I don't have to outline all the ways The Simpsons skews left, do I? It's generally a rebuke of empty consumer culture and unrestrained Scrooge-like capitalism. What it tended NOT to be about is identity politics, however. But it had its moments, even with Apu. Apu was used as a proxy for Mexicans in this episode suggesting we turn a blind eye to immigration law, for instance.

So really, this is the left eating its own for not being extreme enough.

Oh to be the oppressed Indian minority that has highest household income in the country, outpacing the second highest earners by 20k and doubling the income of the evil whites.

If I could put my SJW/pussy hat on for a moment...there are oppressed classes in American society. They're called white Appalachians. Impoverished, poor access to adequate healthcare, poorly educated and poorly funded schools, opioid addicted, etc.. There is a legitimate hurdle anyone from WV, parts of KY, TN, VA, NC, and SC face when they attempt to leave the area. Their accents are 100% a burden that must be shed. No one in LA, NY, Silicon Valley, or Boston will promote or even hire a fully capable person for a position of importance if they're viewed as a hillbilly.

Moreover, deriding people from these areas is not only accepted, but encouraged. They have the worst social mobility of any group in the country and every power that exists nearly actively sets itself to keep these people down.

I've worked in schools systems in central WV, Loudoun Co. VA, and Baltimore.

A kid from the trailer park in Bumfuck, WV with a 34 on his ACT is still going to his local college, maybe drop out after a few semesters because his family can't afford tuition or he sees himself as a warm body not contributing to his family's income so he bails and gets a job to simply not be a drain for four years.

A kid (of any color) from Loudoun with a 29 ACT goes to Georgetown, GWU, or UVA (my alma mater, I'm almost ashamed to say) because his family/school has a pipeline and his life is set up for cruise control.

A kid from Baltimore gets a 25 ACT and manages to graduate with wrap that is only a page gets recruited by Johns Hopkins. Every institution and authority bend over backward to elevate even the most mediocre of the "oppressed" classes. West Baltimore isn't THAT much like The Wire. The drug game isn't the only game in town. Don't be a shithead, be literate, and people will be clamoring to pave the road of your life with golden bricks.

If you want to speak of genuinely damaging stereotypes, look no further than Cletus. .

Matt Groening has always been left-leaning. Read the various "Life is Hell" books like "School is Hell" or "Childhood is Hell". It tends to rip on Republicans a lot while leaving the Democrats alone. Hell even Futurama had an episode making fun of Birthers too with that one episode. All the dumb and evil people on the Simpsons are all conservatives and the smart and good ones are liberals.

Oh and 500th post, Yay!

The greatest irony is their best and most prolific writer for the show was libertarian/conservative, John Swartzwelder. Penning his works while in coffee shop booth with unless amounts of caffeine and cigs.

How long was John on the writing team? I seem to remember a lot of the good writers left the Simpsons to work on Futurama.
