The TV Series Thread

I don't watch any TV anymore but I have a full archive of Magnum P.I. Of all the shows I saw that was the most watchable, free from nasty stuff and with an amiable character of Tom Selleck. I play it sometimes to go back to better times.

Magnum P.I. is one of my favorites as well, and even though it’s a 40 year old show, it’s aged nicely. It’s indeed a throwback to better times and while I also watch very little TV these days, one of the retro channels in my cable line-up has daily reruns and I watch whenever I can.

Has anyone seen the Russian TV series Trigger? It's about a psychologist who uses controversial methods by radically subjecting his patients to their worst fears. I've heard good things about it, but it doesn't seem available online. Does anyone know where one can watch or buy it? Also, any other recommendations of Russian TV series are welcome.

I needed a new TV series to watch so I scrolled through Prime to see what I could find. After spending at least 15-20 minutes searching for something decent and getting frustrated with not finding anything, I settled upon a show called Catastrophe.

It's about a man and woman who meet at a bar and have a one-night stand that ends up in a pregnancy. The problem is the guy lives in the US while the woman lives in England. But they decide...WTH...and decide to get married and have the baby anyway. The guy moves to London and these two strangers decide to live together.

Sounds okay, right? I like shows that take place in faraway lands and the premise is somewhat unique, so I gave it a shot.

Well, the woman has the dirtiest mouth you could imagine. I don't even want to repeat some of the stuff she's said but it's potty humor to the max. Hearing the words that come out of her mouth pretty much ruins what might be a decent show. And frankly, she's not the only one. The writers of this show have used the 2nd season to introduce other weird, sex fetishes and whatnot into certain episodes.

It's a shame as this could be a nice little show about two people who come together to raise a child. However, the Leftist narrative is on full display here as they try to normalize feminist behaviors in women along with other things that should never be seen in a TV show.

I have heard that Brits swear more than Americans.

I agree that excessing swearing puts me off of a TV show as well. It is distracting and worse when it is coming from a woman that has or will have children.

Does the man also swear a lot and have a similar personality or if he more polite?

It would be funny if they had him helping her improve her behaviors and as the show progresses, she becomes a more refined lady. I was thinking of 'Taming of the Shrew' where the temperamental lady becomes a good wife because the husband knew how to take charge. That should be made into a TV show.

But the libs would give it the moniker "Shaming of the Shrew". ;)

That would be an interesting storyline...but he's nearly as bad as her. In fact, it seems that he uses toilet humor whenever he's around her, while when he's with his friends, he's not as bad.

The Last Kingdom, Frontier, Yellowstone, Rome, Domina and Black Sails are some of my favorites so far. The Last Kingdom is my overall favorite.

I never watched this but I came across an interview once with the chick. She was clearly too old to even get pregnant without the aid of IVF. One scene she was complaining about the husband not taking enough interest in her problems after he spent a long day at work.

The whole show seems like it's just meant to bust men's chops.

Watched 1883 because I liked yellowstone til season 4 went crap.

WOW, it quickly turned into woke trash. Terrible, terrible writing.

Woke blonde elsa falls in love with the first cowboy she meets, fornicates with him, and then he dies, and then she is in ridiculous mourning for a man she just met, all in the same episode. She then becomes a psychotic murderer. Then she falls in love with a native named "sam" who speaks perfect english after they fornicate during a tornado. Daddy dutton is totally okay with it. She now can speak the native's language. European immigrants are made out to look like absolute morons who can't take care of themselves. No one in town gives a second look or comment to the black guy that's in their party who shacks up with a gypsy.

Maybe watch the first 2 or 3 episodes then drop it. At least the landscapes look pretty.

Glad I didn't watch it. The main Yellowstone is good, I had thought about getting into this one but definitely glad I didn't.

Better Call Saul was absolutely bananas last night.

Yea I was thinking about this last night while watching it. Howard represents the white, European Christian male who built America and aptly named Saul Goodman represents the Jews, trying to tear him down and pretending to be the champion of the downtrodden minorities while being nothing but a deranged conman. Howard was correct in his assessment of Saul and Kim during the conversation at their house. They go out of their way to completely ruin his character, setting him up to appear as a degenerate sinner, even poisoning him, in order to bring him down and then still gaslight him to his face when he calls them out.

A theme in TV shows and movies is having the audience root for the degenerate, sinful, psychopath character as the hero and despise the generally decent people who are improperly portrayed as the villains. Inversion city.

Do you frame everything in terms of Jews and Christians? Way to read way too much into things.

If you want a show were the good guy wins just because he's the good guy go watch a John Wayne movie. Better Call Saul isn't black and white, there's a lot of subtly and nuance to it.

I thought it was an apt analogy.

Many shows and movies have inverted the good and the bad. Prime example - in Dexter, they have us rooting for a serial killer.

Better Call Saul isn't black and white, there's a lot of subtly and nuance to it.
I'm aware, I've watched both series including Breaking Bad.

I started watching Yellowstone a long time ago but I drifted away after a few episodes into the first season because I don't have much time and I save my discipline for more important things. How did it go crap? The usual wokeness?
