I am currently watching right now is game of thrones season 5 with subtitles and Frankly speaking, it is the best drama series of the era. Never have I come across an extraordinary screenplay & fabulous script along with a wonderful cast.

Still watching the vastly inferior to BB, Better Call saul - the most overhyped show on the internet.

The big difference is that BB had lots of very clever moments and shocking twists that you could never see coming - leaving you in awe at both WWhite's thinking (and the cleverness of the writing). Sure it was a stretch in terms of believability at times, but you let it go just due to the audaciousness of the ideas.

Whereas BCS includes lots of episodes with characters acting stupid in order for certain story beats to happen (especially the last episode). It's well shot and acted but I am just watching out of mild curiosity rather than active enjoyment at this point.

Naw, that would be The Umbrella Academy.

I've sworn off all contemporary content. I partly blame Devon Stack for blackpilling me with his video essays. The programming and subversion became so apparent it was hard to turn my mind off and enjoy anything Netflix or HBO were assaulting audiences with after that.

My last attempt was Cobra Kai, which started off well enough (Johnny basically being MAGA, poking fun at the Woke) but a few seasons later he had learned to appreciate the joys of Ecuadorian immigrancy and his female teenage students were manhandling bodybuilders. I submitted a review of it on IMDb and they refused to publish it. Imagine my shock.

These days, if I'm in the mood to watch anything at all, I try to seek out older titles (with very few exceptions).

I just started Better Call Saul and I will say that for whatever reason, I didn't expect to like it. But Netflix suggested it for me since I liked Ozark so much so I thought I'd give it a try.

Anyways, I'm a few episodes in and I'm enjoying it so far. It doesn't have me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode like Ozark did but it's a well-written and acted show.

Looks like there are already 6 seasons of BCS. For those who have seen it, does it get better? Worse?

The Terminal List was so bad it was funny. It basically took all the worst aspects of cheesy action movies and turned into a totally unnecessary 8 hour tv show. Man do they stretch this out. They keep replaying a memory from Chris Pratt's past about a bird crashing into a window. It follows all the standard tropes and is bland is just about every aspect. The lighting is so low that at times it's hard to tell what is happening. A mediocre mess.

I actually liked the show for what it was, but the bird thing was really aggravating. I got it the first dozen times, no need to keep showing it.

Yeah, about that...

I wonder if those were photoshopped in by some troll. Surely, that Starbucks cup would've been noticed by everyone on set while filming the scene.

I don't watch TV, but I read there were so many GOT's editing mistakes that they should have caught. It is so laughable that Hollywood has turned into a joke.

Sometimes I wish there was less science fiction and fantasy being produced. There's way too much of it, often of poor quality, and they're the ripest genres for pushing Woke nonsense, atheism, anti-clericalism, as well as infantilizing adults.

I recall Game of Thrones dedicating a seasonal arc to the dangers of religious fundamentalism. Vox loved it.

I liked The Terminal List. Would recommend.

Sure there's typical suspension of disbelief, and the bird hitting the glass is overdone.

Apart from that, I thought the story was good...caught the attention and I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Decent bit of mystery, with great action scenes as well. Not to mention, some plot twists to boot.

For a show about righteous indignation, I thought it did a good job showing the main character as someone who was seeking justice for noble reasons, and who was overall a virtuous person. From a Christian standpoint, it's better left up to God. But there is something about getting back on the ones who have really really wronged you, i.e. given you a death sentence disease, killed your friends, wife and child. I wouldn't blame or judge someone seeking justice for those reasons. And I think he gets his revenge in some of the most satisfying ways I've seen from a TV show.

Recently finished Season1 of the new Hulu show "The Bear" with the wife. We both liked it. I used to cook in a restaurant, I also like Food Network shows and comedy/dramas so that could be a factor. A brief synsopsis: a Michelin-starred young chef returns to run his family's restaurant in Inner-city Chicago after his brother passes away. Just a warning that there is a fair amount of cursing.

What about Greyhound with Tom Hanks? Surely we can agree that’s a great and wholesome movie.

I haven't seen it, but the trailer didn't really strike me. I suppose I'll give it a try. But I'm not really sure how one calls a war movie wholesome.

My favorite war movie is Apocalypse Now, so that might tell you the aesthetics I go for.

Recently acquired a Sky Q box, and can now stream old TV series. I'm currently watching season 1 of Swedish police drama Beck:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907683/

In an episode originally transmitted in the spring of '98, a 30-something woman laments the fact that her long term boyfriend has walked out on her, and she complains that men don't want a "strong, independent woman". Although that phrase is now almost parody, I thought it had only come into use recently - looks like the rot has been going on for a lot longer than we thought.
