The YouTube thread

As you probably have heard by now, YouTube is about to introduce new censorship regulations which could affect a large number of content creators, especially but not limited to the alt-right. For more information here's a link to an archived Breitbart article.

Now unless you are German you will most likely be unaware that YouTube's new initiative is the direct result of NetzDG ( Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz) wich was secretly passed in the Bundestag by only 10% of all attendees (a minimum of 50% is required according to § 45 of the Bylaws of the Bundestag) and thus is expected to take effect right after the German federal elections on October 1st 2017.

I have taken some of the highlights taken from a popular German Youtube blogger and translated them as best as I could. Warning: I have not verified all points below so there could be inconsistencies or false information.

Free Speech In (And Outside Of) Germany Is DEAD

All critical content directed at the government can now be simply and quickly removed from the Internet.

Internet sites and Internet channels (e.g. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) openly critical of the government can and will in the near future be censored on the basis of 'hate speech' or 'fake news', 'racism', 'Islamophobia', etc..

When NetzDG takes effect on October 1st 2017 online networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube will be compelled to delete 'offending content' (i.e. anything labeled as hate speech, fake news, racist views, etc.) within 24 hours. For ambiguous cases a period of 7 days will be granted.

Any companies serving content on the Internet in and outside of Germany will be compelled to voluntarily comply with the NetzDG as they may otherwise face substantial financial penalities ranging into the tens of millions of Dollars.

The censorship of all online content will operated primarily by ideologically supportive agencies and NGOs, e.g. the German 'Amadeu Antonio Stiftung' which is headed by fomer East German Stasi agent and self declared racist ("the East is too white") Anetta Kahane, as well as the actual online organization serving the content.

Expect a vast swath of Internet content to now be censored via automation and artficial intelligence directed by government agencies and ideologues at various government sponsored private NGOs. The new YouTube censorship initiative which was just recently announced is a direct result of NetzDG. This has been in the works months.

Voluntary ideological censorship by private organizations (e.g. Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) can now be done under the guise of preventing financial penalties. Effectively social networks and content providers are being coerced into political compliance.

The new NetzDG was supported and backed by Angela Merkel, who received a solid education as secretary for 'Agitation and Propaganda' in the GDR, and Heiko Mass for whom freedom of speech (the main pillar of democracy) belongs in the hands of private organizations and Stasi rats free of any control mechanism.

There also will be the 'Bundestrojaner', the Bundes-Trojan, which is spyware built and disseminated by government agencies to intentionally infect the computers and mobile devices to spy on not only any person of interest but also anyone loosely connected to them (e.g. family, friends, acquaintances, business partners, etc).

The state will have the means and authority to gain access to any and all content stored on a person's computer and smart phones. Any passwords or online access codes found can also be used liberally to extract more information about the person of interest.

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" Who watches the watchmen?

Opinion: Possible targets of NetzDG and Staatstrojaner: System critics (political, Islam, conservatives, politically incorrect bloggers, etc.) are now considered potential terrorists and they and their social circle can now be surveilled and spied on.

Starting in 1957 Erich Mielke (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Mielke), as minister of state security, one of the leading party loyalists in charge of building a comprehensive surveillance and suppression system in the GDR.

If Erich Mielke and Erich Honecker weren't already dead they would most likely permanently walk around with a massive erection at the pure concept of a powerful government controlled surveillance apparatus like NetzDG.

The Future Is Looking Dim

Free speech, forming the basis of democracy, is now effectively dead courtesy of Heiko Mass, Angela Merkel and their Marxist cronies.

NetzDG direclty violates European law (E-commerce directive 2000/31/EG2)

NetzDG also contradicts fundamental EU data protection laws whch prohibits the hand over of personal data to complaining entities without a direct court order, which could otherwise result in threats, stalking, or worse.

NetzDG also violates the German constitution, most definitely the U.S. constitution, and that of many other Western nations.

NetzDG directly violates elemental human rights, such as freedom of speech and right to privacy.

Will EU trigger article 7 on Germany for this blatant anti democratic move?

Don't get your hopes up. Germany is only the guinea pig for a European wide measure.

BTW, I hope you guys all realize that this, despite being a German law, will affect the rest of the world. What gets banned due to German complaints won't be available for you either, no matter where you are.

Let's none of us pretend for a second that this isn't all done in partnership with the Zuckstain. The big tech companies are not innocent victims in this. If Zuck threatened to yank all social media services to Germany over this law then Merkel would have folded like a bad poker hand.

Hope you boys are learning how to shoot, move and communicate (without the net).

I'm dead serious about that last part.

If Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc start full-on censoring everything they don't like (e.g. "alt-right" content), it just means that people will migrate over to more "open" competitors and these sites will ultimately collapse. The free and open nature of these sites is what made them so successful in the first place.

2017 Germany is making the Soviet Union and Chinese Community Party look like a bunch of amateurs.

At least we have the RVF :grouphug:

Absolutely, and I fully agree. One of the points expressed above is that they however can CLAIM that they do not have a choice since their hands are being forced. It's all very insidious and it will affect all of our online activities. It does not matter if you are German, Australian, Swiss, American, French, etc. this directly affects YOU and perhaps even your business.

Time to dust off the trust busting tools, obviously.

It's trivial to do country-based censorship--how do you think Netflix controls regional content?--so if Google pretends they have to ban content for the whole world to comply with some dumbass German law so they can muzzle people they don't like, they're going to get their asses sued off.

Even the lefty nerds at Hacker News are pissed off about this so I expect some of them will be working to get around the meddling, one way or another. Decentralized tools are the future, people. We need to not only stop relying on platforms controlled by enemies, but stop relying on third party controlled platforms at all so this sort of shit isn't even possible. We have the technology.

That is true, however with the proliferation of VPNs they could (and probably will) argue that only a global ban or deletion can assure that no innocent minds are being harmed by the content by accident. Again, let's remember, this is not about protecting children or susceptible individuals, this is about defending one ideology and suppressing another.

Remember, the first renowned victim of this new censorship initiative has been Jordan Peterson, and he's not anywhere near Germany nor do I expect does he have many German subscribers/viewers.

Even the lefty nerds at Hacker News are pissed off about this so I expect some of them will be working to get around the meddling, one way or another. Decentralized tools are the future, people. More precisely what we need is a distributed video distribution platform similar to Popcorn Time / bittorrent. Add a means for micropayments and donations via bitcoin and we're in business. I mentioned PT as we need a more polished front end, preferably based on a web interface that also works on mobile platforms.

You are absolutely correct - we do have the technology.

But what IF this is the plan? Destruction of old social media in order to "force" people on the new ones, those we tend to regard as "third party", "non biased" and such?
Basically, what if even the alternative platforms are controlled oppositions and all this war for attention is just a smoke screen.

Similar to how Anonymous are founded by Soros & Co., i.e. they battle the people who fund them in order to show the illusion that we have choice.

Bit paranoid post of me, but that is my honest opinion.

The alternative platforms haven't really gained momentum.
In the Jordan Peterson thread pointed out how many "more median friendly" personalities and their audiences have only gingerly tried out or engaged in these platforms (ex: sargon of akkad is active in Twitter and Youtube though he complains about both platforms- specially Twitter, but he often takes days to upload vids or content to Vid me and Minds.
Then again the bulk of his reach is through these two "mainstream" platforms so very likely he'd lose a huge audience/income if he abandoned them. Plus He already got a close shot on his patreon as well following the Sarkisian non-scandal...

Has Lauren southern got around hers getting shut down?

I'm sure there is historical lessons to be learned here.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 3 times Germany and there won't be a Germany afterwards.

Don't worry, there won't be any left after the country turns full blown Islamic in about 2025.

RE: New YouTube Censorship Regulations Direct Result Of German NetzDG Law

And it's implemented by a former Eastern Stasi official.

We will see how fast shit will go down. So far German alternative information sites can divert their content to foreign IP addresses, but the social media content will likely be severely restricted and thus the people down the block will think that the rapes and assaults they witnessed personally must be some kind of rare fluke.

Once Was Not

RE: New YouTube Censorship Regulations Direct Result Of German NetzDG Law

Never really understood the "Germany ruined Europe three times" meme myself.

Ultimately stuff like this only helps us. The further daily life and free speech degrades in Europe, especially Germany, the better. As long as Europeans can escape into hedonism and escapism, there will be no shift in the mindset currently barreling them into a caliphate. This goes double for Germany, who will likely be able to use their strong economy as a crutch longer than others.

Once they can no longer go out at night, go out to music festivals, or even use their precious trains and public transportation without being forced to face Islam's angry Scimitar then they will retreat to within. There they will find massive censorship and state authorities harassing them for their not so anonymous online activity. They won't even be able to vent their frustrations. There will be nowhere to escape.

In my opinion, the worst case is the continuing of the slow frog boil we've got going on. We need leftists to keep pushing further and further all while closing the gap with the degradation of daily life. More migrants and more censorship and socialist oppression to speed this shit up. If we have to wait 30 years it'll be a lot uglier. If that happens then I believe Germany will indeed finally finish itself off after being defeated the past century. Their spineless Prussian-free leadership country will break up into member states.

So yeah, stuff like this used to piss me off, now it just makes me happier. It's not like we were going to be able to ride google and netflix and youtube and all other lefty controlled platforms into an Islam free rebirth of Western society anyway.

This could be true, but I think that if the dominant social media and video hosting sites go full-on totalitarian with censorship, people will become distrustful of them and this will open up the opportunity for legitimately free and open platforms to take their place.

It's the same old story we've seen with so many other empires and companies - they rise, and when they reach the peak of their power they become too cocky and think they can do whatever they want, and this causes their fall.

There's something called LBRY that might be doing just that.

The funny thing is that I spoke to several Germans about it and they were all in favor of the new law. All of them would self-describe as left leaning. Go figure.

They will all be in favor of it until the new Stasi puts their daughter in a re-education camp in the future.

The useful marxist idiots cheered on Chavez in Veneuela, they also cheered on various communist dictators in the past.

The tears and the full face of the tyranny come later.

It is really funny that the Germans were supposedly so opposed against the privacy breach of Google Streetview, but fucking draconian fines against a grandmother who mentions that she was sexually assaulted by a migrant - that is of course very problematic.
