RE: New TLC show - 90 Day Fiance

I would imagine the whole underlying purpose of this series is to poke fun at American men and discourage them from marring foreign brides.

Edit: Wait a minute. On second thought, is the goal of this show instead to show how an American man is supposed to help empower a foreign woman to "evolve" into a modern day western one?

I haven't watched anything but the initial trailers. Do any of the guys on the show explain the desire for a foreign bride is based on their disdain for American women and feminism in general?

How is it possible that ALL of the men are weak and all of the women are strong? The casting was done deliberately. No happy couples were included on purpose. For sure the purpose is to serve the American white female imperative.

I'll share my interpretation, I really have no idea what the reality is.

1) Mormon guy met her while on mission I guess - he doesn't really ever talk about why he didn't succeed here.
2) The Oklahoman - he was working in Venezuela I believe. That is where they met
3) The huge guy with Aya - it looks like he was looking for love abroad - but you can tell that when you are married to the nightmare he was married to - that he would want someone more loving and supportive
4) The big guy from Cleveland - I don't think he did well with ladies in general - too soft, takes too much crap. When people ask how they met, he always tells a story about how he wanted to learn Russian and they met on a language exchange site. I bet it was some Russian dating site.

None of them have ever said - I don't like American women for xyz reasons. I bet anything they did say would get edited. Or maybe not - ratings boost with from angry feminists.

Aside from the Oklahoman - they don't have any looks, not in good condition (i.e. workout) and all seem too soft. The OK is the least wimpy but still a bit soft. My money is on them getting married since they have the best chemistry, she does like to spend though. He doesn't seem capable of saying no to her. He comments about it, but at the end of the last episode you see them getting into a jacuzzi in their new place (common area - not in the apt) and he is all smiles knowing he is going to be fucking her - that's the look on his face at least.

The women do come from more caveman/alpha male cultures so it stands to reason they will be able to control the men better. Of course in their own land they have no power. Its kind of the reverse of us when we are expats overseas!

just saw episode 3!
The fat Cleveland guy is in trouble. All the other guys..the girls seem to actually like, regardless of the statistics that show they will Americanize and split. Aziza is NOT having fun there, nor does she seem family orientated like the Filipina girl. She is plotting. Anyone who has dated in FSU has learned to sense these chicks.Disaster tat will show pretty early.
All the other have hope if they man up. Also it seems they are making big mistake. They all talk seriously about marriage and making plans. They should be spending more time ACTUALLY getting to know one another...and having sex ofcourse!

Exactly re Aziza. She's a huge flight risk and I think will be gone inside 6 months if they get married.

I couldn't watch episode 3 after hearing Aziza's guy from Cleveland speak. He's just so lost/so beta it's scary. Too painful to watch!

Depends on what you mean by the women being strong.

I don't see the Brazilian girl as strong. I would say the opposite. She's a girly girl with very little life experience.

Mike had a moment where he felt like a winner this week. Great to see. I mentioned in Episode 1 that he was taking the submissive role when they walked hand in hand. That was switched around when you see them at the end of Episode 3.

Sadly, Mike will immediately revert back to his passive, pleaser frame. Any gains he made this week will immediately be lost again.

This week they mentioned that the show will follow the stories of four couples. So it looks like gym owner guy Len is no longer being featured?

Russ sometimes gets the deer in the headlights look when it's time to be assertive. Although I think that's mainly due to being on camera. He has more of a filter than his wife-to-be. I trust that when the cameras are switched off, he has no problem saying what needs to be said.

The feminists probably complained about age differences lol

This is that Tanya chick, I tried to find a pic on the net no luck, so I took pics with my phone. In one pic, her current husband says she's scary.

You think?

Tanya has game for sure....or are there no other women in that town? Damn.

Just an absolute control freak who marries men with no spine. Her new husband seems pretty wimpy also. Maybe she is just fantastic in bed, or something. Her arm is bigger than most people's thighs. You can tell she is insane, and I would love to see her lose her shit. That would be pretty epic, because she is unstable. But hey at least her hair is long with natural, I mean unnatural colors. Hard to look at it.

On a side note, it is weird we have not seen the 4th couple. I wonder why.

You mean 5th couple? 'Cause we already have the Russian, Philippina, the Columbian, and the Brazilian. The 5th couple would have been the Gym owner Len with his hottie Ukrainian fiancee. Damn it, if I don't see that I am downgrading this show from 4/5 to 3 stars max.

Columbian chick's twitter: @pao8705. Judging by recent pictures I think she's back in columbia...

apparently her and the guy are calling into the Opie & Anthony show tomorrow morning, if you've got siriusXM.

Not sure if they are still together, but Russ and Paola did marry according to newspaper wedding announcements.

I also saw online somebody that worked with Alan claiming he went on his mission in college and that is when he met Kirylam's family. He kept in touch with the family after he returned to the United States, and fell in love with Kirylam after she grew up. So he likely first met her when she was 9-13 years old and he was 19-23. That is some fucked up shit. The Mormon Church comes down on your ass you aren't married and popping out LDS children by 25.

It doesn't imply that he was "into her" at that age. He even said in one of the episodes he met her when she was younger I'm pretty sure.
