I don't know how many of you watch sports on here. I imagine it's fairly low, but I am a basketball and football fan. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure but oh well. I thought it would make for a good thread as there are some interesting things happening relating to the vaccine. As football season is about to get underway, that seems to be where most of the battles over the vaccine are occurring. Some initial thoughts/insights:
Right now, the NFL is not mandating the vaccine but is applying major pressure to the unvaccinated. To my knowledge, teams are probably around 97/98 percent vaccinated. This week, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach admitted to getting to 100% vaccinated by cutting a few lesser-known unvaccinated players. Of course, most teams are doing this but just aren't admitting it. Quarterback Cam Newton was cut by the New England Patriots today but their coach said his vaccination status was not a factor (right). He is unvaccinated, and to my knowledge there are only three other unvaccinated starting quarterbacks: Lamar Jackson, Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz (Tom Brady may also be). Lamar Jackson is a superstar and is at no risk of getting cut. Wentz and Cousins are solid but middling, so they have to play really well in order to be safe imo. Cousins is the son of a pastor who has called this what it is, a plandemic, so the media hates him more than anyone. He has also basically outright stated that he will lose his career before getting the vaccine. There are a few superstars at other positions who are resisting: Christian McCaffrey, DeAndre Hopkins and Dalvin Cook come to mind. Cole Beasley, a receiver for the Bills, is a solid player and is the most vocal of all players in not going along with the plandemic. He's a cool dude and who knows, may be a secret lurker on this forum. I'm sure there are many more but I'm just going off recent memory. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out. I admit to getting discouraged about what's going on and sometimes get outright depressed over it, so it is encouraging for me to see people who, at least so far, are willing to put so much on the line to resist this lead-in to the Mark of the Beast.
One other thing that was crazy was the Pittsburgh Steelers for a few practices were requiring that their unvaccinated players wear colored wristbands indicating their unvaccinated status. Nothing fascist there.
One last thing that I'm struggling with is although I don't really have an NFL team I root for, the closest thing would be the Los Angles Chargers, and I understand they were one of the first to be fully vaccinated. It's made it a struggle to continue pulling for them, but maybe that's for the best. I should be ultimately directing my focus more on Christ, so making it harder to root for certain players/teams is kind of a natural way of trending more toward God.
