No, the thesis is that it’s strictly the harder stuff that causes the total breakdown of health. I don’t think ADHD drugs are completely safe, but the negative side effects aren’t connected to the AIDS mortality rates.
But the initial impetus for AIDS came from the fact that all these young gay men in places like San Francisco were hardcore users of one particular drug: amyl nitrite, also known as “poppers.” Now, apparently one of the main effects of using poppers is that it’s a relaxant that causes the anal sphincter to loosen and relax. It’s just ridiculous, once you learn all this stuff, how scientists refuse to put two and two together.
