LOL. I say that! Maybe it's because some of us are old enough to remember when they first came out as normal household appliances. (My mom refused to get one!). So these things seemed to heat foods somewhat mysteriously and we'd imagine the food inside is being "zapped" like little lightning bolts of electricity.

I wasn't sure if it's a regional or age-related thing. My mom also says "nuke," but every other boomer-age lady I know says "zap," as in "just zap it for a coupla seconds and it's fine."

I like "Chef Mike."

So has my sleep schedule, especially ever since the time change. Hate that. Maybe it's from too much worry about what is happening in our country and others...
But, yes, parents of babies and young children are sleep-deprived. It comes with the territory. They do grow up, so enjoy this special time. It gets better.

Thanks. I can't really complain too much, we have a chill baby who is an excellent sleeper normally (we co-sleep, which makes things easier) and older son is a good sleeper, too.

One thing I think back on the past few years is how societal panic historically precedes big changes.

Haha, yeah. Both my older son and baby were awake the other night when I was awake, and my mom said she was awake, too. Wondering if it's something in the air.
Could be. We’re more sensitive to seasonal changes than we like to believe, I think.

Seasonal changes + daylight savings switch is a recipe for disaster. I still haven't been able to adjust to the time change. The level of sunlight in the morning before the switch was enough to help me wake up.

I don't care which time we use, I just wish we'd pick one and stick to it.

Well, for one I noticed the weather where I live being even colder and wetter than it already was and people still claiming, oh, it´s too hot and dry, while I´m preparing to be uncomfortably cold even in the summer and I can´t turn my heating off even now.

And then there´s the low and still falling global birthrate getting more widespread attention amidst a social climate that is still so insanely anti-natalist and I wonder which direction that discourse will take.

Not weird but there is no thread on random things and I just wanted to share! I’m on assignment in North Carolina and saw my first black widow pretty close. About 4 feet away. God has slowly worked on me. Back in the day I would just see one and run screaming. Or try to destroy the house in attempts to get rid of it. Boy if a spider happened to be on me full panic attack with full body hives. Actually that may still happen. Anyway it was scary and fascinating to look at but I also let the extended stay know asap. Please remove deadly spider! I wonder why God created some insects that scare so many humans. Like spider and wasps and scorpions. I don’t understand that. They are not cute or cuddly! But then again we are a family of snakes and rodents and reptiles and dogs so……. But those are all cute!
