Weird things you noticed lately (Ladies)

Has anyone else noticed a trend of men wearing mid-thigh workout/athletic shorts with capri length leggings underneath? My husband turned on some sportsball after Church on Sunday to take a nap to and there were some “health” ads with men wearing spandex unitards. Is this a “new” normal thing? So confused and weirded out lol

I always assumed it was to help prevent chafing as I've mostly seen long distance runners doing this. I also see it more in cold weather, so maybe it's for warmth and the shorts are an attempt to look less gay in tights? I think the shorts are a modesty thing. I'd much rather them cover with shorts than just wearing the leggings.

I previously posted about milk going sour early, likely due to the mishandling of it by transporters and store workers, and there may be lying by the distributor on the best by date. And I noticed today that a couple jugs of milk I bought from Walmart have tasted and smelled... off. I'm not sure how to describe it other than tasteless and nearly odorless. This leads my husband and me to think they might be using some new additive to extend the shelf life. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Ok I have not noticed this lately it was actually decades ago but can anyone tell me why no matter the city/state you are in if you happen to be on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd it’s the most ghetto dangerous street in that city. Why??????

Do you mean using the Google search engine? While searching online I would use one, or a combination of, either DuckDuckGo, Yandex or Mojeek, avoid all Google products if you can.

Using Firefox browser shouldn't really make much of a difference accessing the site, it's more about which search engine you use, but if you were thinking of switching browsers, I'd recommend either Brave or (the better choice IMO) Librefox -- this is an independent fork of Firefox maxxing on the privacy/security benefits and a preferred choice over the standard Firefox browser, which is still not bad:

I wouldn't call MLKJ a "decent man." Look up and watch John Doyle's video on him.
Not perfect but could have been worse. He could have been all pants sagging with a gold grill in his mouth crying poor negro. At least he tried. Everyone has skeletons but if they make an effort that’s better than nothing.

i surely don’t know a lot about him. But a black man in a suit telling people to get along. No sagging pants. No grill. no f*ck the PO-lice. I don’t understand. His street should be filled with well dressed well to do black people. Not shoot ‘em up 24/7.

Vehicle traffic these days creeps me out.

It used to be that there were certain times of day when many streets and roadways in less densely populated areas were basically dead.

Nowadays I can be pretty close to the middle of nowhere, and it doesn't matter what time I go out for a walk, it's basically impossible to find a road that doesn't have cars coming and going at least every minute or two.

It never stops. NEVER. No exaggeration. I've always been a walker and I've gone out at all hours, and it's gotten absolutely nutty over the last 10 years or so. Even in the dead of night.

I'm pretty well convinced that these fools running around in their cars all the time are basically living blood constantly tracing runes that give power to the spells that bind them in spiritual slavery.

Another thing:

The new standard of sharing news and information via embedded videos and embedded tweets, etc.

1. This format utterly wastes human time and energy. What could be summed up in a single brief paragraph (or sometimes a single sentence) now requires multiple click-throughs, bloated loading times, and usually at least several minutes of wading through garbage to get to the point.

Not to mention the time/energy wasted by the people who do the embedding and sharing, given that:

2. This format was designed so that MASSIVE "webs" of shared information can be effectively obliterated with a few keystrokes by deleting the original source material that has been shared/embedded.

3. Even when not maliciously deleted/censored, it is almost GUARANTEED that these shared/embedded sources will eventually "evaporate" by way of "updates" and "restructuring" of the systems that host them. This is 100% by design.

Even on this forum where I know many are already wise to the fact, I often sit for whole minutes staring at a page full of "TWEET LOADING" messages. And I usually just chuckle and close the page or scroll until I find a post where an actual text summary has been provided.

I have mad respect for the folks who copy/paste or type up a quote that won't go the way of "THIS TWEET/VIDEO DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE" (and so often within just a few days, if it's anything interesting).

Ye olde stories of people chasing leprechaun gold come to mind...

Of late, I've experienced a couple of cases of the polar opposite. Particularly strange was the occasion when I left work at 5pm and, for a few seconds, the normally manic T junction nearby didn't have a single car visible in any direction.

Tourist areas often have more traffic in the summer and suburban/city areas get more crowded in the fall (the inverse being true, too).

I don’t know if this is the right thread for this but I do not understand how every business is understaffed. The extra rona money was stopped a while ago. How are these people surviving and not working. I mean everywhere. Several states I’ve been though in the past year all had many businesses extremely understaffed or have shortened hours of operation. Explain this to me. Are these people afraid of rona and millionaires?
well something i learned, which made me mad was that our state was allowing people to enroll in the state medicaid program if they caught covid. So basically if you tested positive for covid, you could get free healthcare for at least a year. Also, once you are unemployed for a certain amount of time you just enroll in the state medicaid and get free healthcare and continue applying for unemployment checks.

My mom's work gets a lot of workman's comp cases, people who work for Amazon, UPS, etc for a month, then "get injured". She says some patients have been to her office 6+ times in the past few years after "injuries" from different jobs.

These social benefits are supposed to be a safety net for people who need it for short periods of time or the disabled, but the majority of people are just playing the system, taking whatever freebies they can get.

I’m not sure this is even a problem but I’ve noticed a lot of grandparents taking care of their grandchildren and quite frankly looking exhausted.
This is a better option than putting your child in daycare all day but I can’t help but feel bad for the grandparents. Unless they are volunteering to care-then it’s on them. Lately though, it seems like I talk to more grandmothers than mothers in my baby’s “mommy and me” classes. Even at the park, I found myself talking to a grandpa about potty training. He told me he cares for her while her mom and dad are at work.
I would say close to half are being taken care of by grandparents in my daughter’s library music class. I actually sat there and counted this week. 9 grandmas, 6 moms, and 1 grandpa.
My cousin is 73 and she watches my cousin’s 2 year old daughter. She came to visit and complained how tired she was and how she couldn’t keep up. The toddler now goes to daycare part time to give her a break. I know both my cousin and her husband have to work to afford their new house, though.

I had a help a panicked grandmother get her granddaughter out of her car seat the other day. She thanked me and said “I know it was simple for you to get her out but I’m old and I don’t have the strength.”
It’s weird….not saying it’s bad.

Yeah, I think it can be nice for both the grandparents-- if they're willing and retired-- and the kids, though. And it's WAY better than daycare lol. (I worked daycare/preschool for a few years, I wouldn't willingly subject my kids to it.)
