What do you think about country music?

I totaly love this band. Their music is addictive and lyrics are awesome.... some of them are deep, other are funny. I can´t get enough of their music since I heard first song, it had already been some years.
In part of the world where I live country music is considered to be something totaly "out", but almost everyone I play this music to, loves it too, including girls.

Not my style, but here is Sean Hannity's theme song on Patriot radio:

I always get invites and discounted/free tickets to shows like this. The music ain't great, but the eye candy is off the charts. What Maverick calls a "target-rich environment".

You happened to pick the quintessential crappy country radio single. That music video looks like a trailer for Idiocracy.

Truth is though, most of the country people I know are into that ish, and I still love hanging out with them. I can overlook ishy stuff on the radio just fine when I'm having a good time around a bonfire with people that aren't uptight and don't give a F about what's "correct".

I really like (old) bluegrass. The new stuff is as much a beta boy whine as anything else, with few exceptions.
There is a really good documentary, Give Me the Banjo! which is a quote from Mark Twain. It's so good, youtube charges for it, and price went up over time. It is worth every penny.

This shit is cancer. Steve Earle said it best in a recent interview:

"The best stuff coming out of Nashville is all by women except for Chris Stapleton. The guys just wanna sing about getting f***ed up. They're just doing hip hop for people who are afraid of black people. I like the new Kendrick Lamar record, so I'll just listen to that."

Some ear bleach for anyone that sat through that FGL train wreck -

Just discovered Alejandro Escovedo thanks to this thread. Pure musicianship, definitely a unique sound all his own. Love it.

Here's Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens returning the favor, con Flaco Jimenez tickling el acordeón:

Who are these women who Steve Earle is hyping up? Whenever I listen to his radio show I just get irritated because he spends half his time bitching about Trump. He probably is talking about Margo Price and her "bravery" for wearing an "Icky Trump" shirt:

Kasey Musgraves is probably in his mind too, although she always sings about Leftoid issues I find some of her shit pretty catchy:

It's sort of interesting to see the parallels in the past though - you had pop country in the 50s and 60s like Dickie Lee, and the then you see the response from the OUTLAWS like Hank, Waylon and TVZ. Here is what Pop Country sounded like a couple generations ago, and you can just imagine Johnny Cash thinking "the fuck is this shit" - I gotta say though Dickie sure is catchy!

Now you have the Florida Georgia Line, LOL.

I think that Sturgill's take on your typical modern pop country music is much more to the point

I agree with you on Stapleton though he is awesome. Him, Sturgill and Jason Isbell are the three best guys in country music these days. Been on a huge Sturgill bender lately.

How sick is this Nirvana cover with the horns by the Dap Kings??!!

Side note (I tried to post this in my last post but new forum rule is max 5 vids per post)

What song did MOVSM post above by Alejandro that was removed? This one is probably his most well known

And thanks for the Dwight clip, I haven't listened to him in a while. He was probably the Outlaw answer to Garth Brooks and shit like that in the 90s - never going to go into that Pop Country route which Garth did after his first couple albums. Just an outsider doing his own thing. Here is is paying homage to Elvis the King:

Illmatic. Going to have Sturgill playing in the car for a while I think. I've always liked outlaw cats like Cash and Haggard, and the more mainstream but still real as fuck Hank Williams, and only recently have I discovered some of these younger guys who are keeping the tradition alive.

I've had Sturgill on heavy repeat since you posted this. I'd heard his name thrown around a few times in the past, but never gave him a listen until last week.

A Country concept album, I'd never thought I'd see the day! Everyone needs to give A Sailor's Guide to Earth a listen from start to finish.

Man I just saw that Guns N Roses is playing with Sturgill in Little Rock and Denver, guy has really made it. Glad to see he is getting the recognition he deserves...

Here's some other good shit though.

Isbell sings this one. I actually just bought Jason Isbells new CD "Nashville sound" and it fucking sucks, guy decided to do a "concept album" for the Democratic Party. Sad!

I actually have just been blasting the Black Crowes first Cd lately, SHAke Your Money Maker. From 1990. What an unreal CD, every song is good. Probably too Southern rock n roll for this thread and it would be a complete detail to post a song but man what a gem. It sort of reminds me of GnR Appetite for Destruction, just a total masterpiece of a debut album.
