What is the most powerful brain supplement?

Caffeine has unparalleled efficacy, evidence, and demonstrated safety. Fr both cognitive and athletic performance.

By the way, has the Army produced their research paper to show the optimal dosages and times to take it? That paper came out earlier this year and I believe was going to be an app as a human service project.

Was there a definite answer on whether modafinil has other effects (increased anxiety, increased focus/motivation,makes you anti-social) or does it just keep you alert for a period of time? was always wondering that also guessing whatever supplement cernovich posted in the beginning is pretty solid

Say what you want about Adderall, but the shit works. I work in sales and most of the top performers use a lot of it often. I use it infrequently as I worry about the long term effects.

I've heard if you're working on a big project, 12 hours a day for a stint Adderall gives you an edge. Its hard to stay mentally focussed on computer screens and meetings for that long. I would consider it if I had something short term where I needed total focus. I would be wary of taking it for an extended period of time. All that said I've never used it.

@KidTwist - Props to Caffeine. An Americano is my personal favourite delivery method.

Also, gym works, and healthy living.

Probably Modafinil (and other related ones). Read a study that it yielded better results, and more creative/ productive thinking than Adderall or caffeine. Moda improves brain function, speed just is a basic stimulant meanwhile.

Add to that some caffeine and you'll be good.

All things considered, the best thing is to take vitamins, eat healthy, get adequate sleep and work out. There's no substitute really.

I don't know if this is a thing but, 3 cups of coffee and I'm usually all amped up but in no clear direction. I'm basically ADHD OH LOOK A PUPPY

3 cups of green tea and I'm alert but kind of "smooth" about it. Not jittery and generally focused.

Keen to try Modafinil but no idea how to get it through customs.

Most fish oils on the market are garbage, they've gone rancid already and can do nothing for you.

The biggest brain supplement worth mentioning is cholesterol (since your brain is made of cholesterol). If you can eat a high cholesterol diet then your brain is going to work much better since it will have the biggest tool it needs to regenerate brain tissue and form synapses. If your long-term memory is good (you can remember your childhood) but your short term memory is trash (you do not know what you had for breakfast this morning) then your blood cholesterol levels are low and your brain cannot form new memories.

Cholesterol synthesized from the liver is far inferior and takes energy away from the organ it could have otherwise used to detoxify the body. This is why most vegans act like mentally retarded children, their avoidance of animal products keeps them in such a state.

Assuming you are getting your cholesterol from animal products, you should be getting sufficient vitamins required to support the brain as well. Eat animal brains, organs, and muscle meats (if that's all you can find) with preference to 'whole animal' products like oysters, mussels, and eggs ('whole' products have more complete nutrition than muscle meats).

I've done a lot of controlled experiments with nootropics. Logging how much I was taking, consistency, taking regular IQ tests, other cognitive tests like finger tap, stroop test, N-back etc.

The racetam family of nootropics absolutely works and measurably increased my objective cognitive performance (verbal intelligence, working memory and reasoning). Of these pramiracetam is the strongest but it dulls your emotions. Not fun.

Noopept was slightly less effective but it didn't have that drawback, and it has a number of other long-term benefits such as neuroprotection, preventing oxidative damage, anti-anxiety etc. It works similarly to racetams but it's disputed if it would be classified in that family anymore. Anyway 20mg daily is the dose and make sure you are getting enough choline in your diet (mostly comes from eggs, chicken, or just take a choline supplement) otherwise you'll get headaches.

Modafinil is the only thing I've ever taken and noticed a dramatic difference.

Fish oil, Udos oil, ACV... all that stuff I've never noticed anything, although other people seem to.

Sustainable?

l-theanine + caffeine

If you want something stronger, you can look into cerebrolysin, basically pig brain. its used for stroke patients.
Many healthy partakers also report cognitive boosts

Cerebrolysin. I've sampled this medication myself and can say without any doubts it's by far one of the most potent if not the most potent nootropic one can administer. The effects are astounding. Improved my cognition and memory significantly in several weeks time.

Adderall. Take ZMA (especially magnesium takes the edge off), L-Tyrosine (building block for Dopamine which Adderall depletes) and fish oil with it if you want the comedowns to be manageable.

If not, basically any other hard stimulant. Vyvanse, Dexedrine, Ritalin, Mydayis, whatever they're a horse a piece. Each one works differently on everybody. One may work for you and another may not. But once you dial your dosage down it's all smooth sailing from there.

If uninsured/broke you could try micro-dosing crystal meth, it's actually FDA approved for treatment of ADHD, but with street ice you really have to micro-micro-dose it as in with a milligram scale, measuring out 5 mg (which is about the size of a few grains of salt) taking it twice a day through the mouth, never exceed 10 mg a day, never smoke/snort/IV as it's a very strong stimulant and that's how you get hooked.

Most people say modafinil works, maybe it does but I tried up to 300 mg a day which did jack shit, then found out via testing that I am a non responder to it (which apparently is a thing).

On the other hand I find it very funny that governments and big pharma see smoking as a bigger issue than prescription stimulants and opioids. I went to my GP today to refill a prescription. He asked how my mood was, if I am still a smoker, then spent 15 minutes explaining various methods available for quitting smoking. Then wrote me a 90 day script for what is basically medical meth, and sent me on my way. I guess it's OK to do drugs as long as you're doing the drugs the government allows you to.

Oh btw on the way out he said "have a nice day"

I was going to reply, caffeine, not even close, and we know about safe dosing. Then I came upon the post by

and thought the sustainable addition was insightful, since it's what I'm talking about too. What does theanine add, by the way?

I can tell you as well that L-tyrosine on an empty stomach will provide a noticeable boost in supplying the precursors to dopamine as listed above. It's similar to the coffee mood boost. I worry about doing it a bit too frequently, so I only take small doses once in a long while. By the way, I also tried trytophan as a recommended anti-inflammatory at one point, and although I might have been susceptible, it increases serotonin along the same type of mechanism as L-tyrosine above. It pushed me to that sleepy/low mood state that crystallized in my mind that "depression" is about balance of mind and body, but it is on the DOPAMINE side of things, it has nothing to do with serotonin except insomuch as it is required for balance (I believe without a doubt that increased serotonin makes you feel "depressed" or blues/less cognition and motivation).

I hope this is helpful, I'm always interested in reading about nootropics, but hardcore pharmaceuticals are off limits (generally speaking) due to what I consider to be universal tradeoffs.

Not "most powerful", but I've anecdotally noticed improvements in attention and mood coinciding with when I"m eating fresh citrus.

Fish/Krill oil - Omega 3,6,9
Marine Phytoplankton: really improves my mood
Swiss Ultiboost Memory + Focus: Great if you can't focus and need to study. Also great for anxiety and brain fog.
Saint John Wort: Great for mild-moderate depression
Swisse Ultiboost Mood: improves mood
Kava: Good for anxiety. This really help me with giving up smoking years ago where I know its banned in some countries.
L-Tryptophan- helps you sleep and improves your mood.
Intermittent/Extended Fasting: best way to increase your focus and mood. It is the no. 1 way to repair brain cells.
Meditation: a must everyday just like the gym.
Eat very healthy (fruit, vegetables, grass fed meat, wild fish) and don't eat any take away food/junk food: Most foods are poisonous today where it really does fucked with your moods and how you think. Try to eat only what cavemen had access to eat. Avoid microwave food cause it nukes all the nutrient hence why the food is soggy with no favour. I don't even bother warming food, I just take it out of the fridge, wait an hour until it's at room temperature and eat it. It's the same as cold pizza, it still taste good cause it still has all the nutrient in it. Since I made the change to a more healthy lifestyle my mood has increased 100%, I have more energy than in my teen years and my mind is focused. I also haven't been sick in 10 years compare to 2-4 times every year. Try to also stay away from Sugar, Diary, Wheat, Gluten and Soy if you can. Keep your body at optimum levels by not allowing anything that can cause any kind of damage (inflammation). Junk food is a drug, no different to smoking or being an alcoholic.

Most of the guys are going to hate this but try to be more Vegan. I love my meat but I've done the research which pisses me off but no meat can increase your endurance 10 times. It also decreases your chances of getting any major disease or cancer by 10x. I've also became more Vegan to get an edge in my training now that I just turned 40 but I still eat my meat during the week but have cut down heaps.

This documentary pisses me off but it shows how today scientists can look at the bones of Roman soldiers and see what they ate. The best of the best sports people like Arnold has spoken out as well in this doc.
