I travelled into the Melbourne CBD (downtown) for work last week. Boy, has it changed. I mean, it was already ultra 'diverse' to start with, but that last trip I'd say it was (no exaggeration) 90%+ diverse including all workers. It's a bit of a weird time, Melbourne still in lockdown, no office workers - really only other public transport/courier/convenience store workers (Indian) and student/residents/restaurant operators (Chinese). A handful of Australian construction/maintenance/trade workers and that was it. It really was like a different country. Almost 1 in 5 rental properties are vacant in the 3000 postcode. I think Aussies have abandoned it now and will retreat to nearby Regionals. I have also noticed a large number of e-celebrities doing their big announcement videos on how they are 'leaving California' - inc. Joe Rogan (to Texas), Ben Shapiro, Graham Stephenson (to Vegas). It was a weird coincidence, as if it was orchestrated in some way. What a great way to destroy a city without firing a single shot (and vacuuming up the wealth along the way through taxes and corruption).
