[QUOTE="yeppels, post: 1260845, member: 9633"] I've been doing a lot of reading about the origins of Buddhism/Taoism, before they became organized religions and were more philosophical, and this message in particular resonates with that philosophy. Through self study and training, we are all capable of spiritual salvation through our innate biology and environment. However, this is difficult. Very difficult, and for most people, impossible, as it requires the ability to accurately self-reflect, admit ones own faults, and in general be willing to change one's own behavior on a much deeper level that most people are comfortable with. These abilities can be taught, but again through dedicated practice, and without having to resort to any kind of external God. Unfortunately in order for millions of people with different cultural backgrounds, languages, and traditions, to come together and live in peace, requires a shared narrative and removal of individual responsibility, hence organized religion.
